Arturia releases iMini synthesizer app for iPad

Related: , , , , , , , Posted in news on Feb 27, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Arturia has announced the availability of iMini, an authentic recreation of the Minimoog monosynthesizer for iPad.

Arturia iMini
iMini is a recreation of the classic 1971 Minimoog™ synthesizer, one of most iconic synthesziers of all time.

iMini is based on the TAE® (True Analog Emulation) synthesis technology found in Arturia’s award-winning Mini V soft synth, meticulously modelling the distinctive tones and analogue nuances of the legendary Seventies-vintage Minimoog Model D monosynth. Moog changed the musical world with the Minimoog and Arturia helped change the music software world with the Mini V.

Arturia now brings the still-sought-after classic Minimoog sound to the musical masses, transforming any iPad mini, iPad 2, or iPad with Retina display into the ultimate analogue synth emulation! Those timeless three oscillators and that 24dB per octave fabled filter are all present and accounted for in iMini. It also successfully sports the look and feel of Dr Bob Moog’s namesake iconic synthesizer for all to see (and hear). But being a game-changing iPad app for 2013 and not an analogue synth design dating back to 1970 means there’s a whole lot more to iMini than first meets the eye…

iMini features

  • Realistic recreation of the classic Minimoog™ sound.
  • Hundreds of sounds created by the top sound designers in the world.
  • Preset compatibility with Arturia Mini V software.
  • Core MIDI support
    • Including MIDI controller mapping.
    • WIST sync with other iPAD/Iphone devices.
  • High quality sound based on our TAE™ analog modeling technology.
  • Tabletop Ready iOS application for a complete electronic music studio.

iMini is available to purchase for a 3-week introductory price of $9.99 USD / 8.99 EURO (regular $21.99 USD / 19.99 EURO). iMini requires at least an iPAD 2 and OS 6.0 or later.

Spitfire Audio updates Albion Vol 1 for Kontakt to v4

Spitfire Audio Albion

Spitfire Audio has released version 4 of the first volume of Albion, a sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

The finest orchestral sessions musicians playing the finest, rarest instruments, recorded at Air Studios – Lyndhurst Hall, London, through the finest vintage, valve, and ribbon mics to 2″ tape. The only tape based orchestral library in the world. This is all you need to write epic sounding, widescreen cinematic orchestral music straight out of the box. Recorded in sections, this library features rich aggressive and lyrical strings, punchy, growling brass and some seriously malevolent woodwinds.

Albion features

  • Unified patches to bring all articulations of an instrument into a single NKI with keyswitching.
  • New ‘Combined’ patches to merge Lo/Hi sections instead of cumbersome MULTIS.
  • New ‘Time Machine’ patches to stretch/squash the short samples time-wise.
  • New ‘Overlay’ patches to easily blend Albion with Loegria/Iceni/Sable/Solo Strings.
  • New ‘The Cog’ patches to tweak the instrument on a granular level to your preference.
  • The latest version of Spitfire’s Ostinatum machine (configurable keyswitches, multiple tracks, etc.).
  • Highly configurable articulation mapping (assign and group articulations to notes, CCs, velocities and MIDI channels).
  • Customisable CC can be used to quickly change articulation (defaults to CC32).
  • Expression control added to all patches.
  • ADSR control added to the Stephenson/Brunel patches.
  • Route a microphone’s output by clicking the mic title.
  • Improved Round Robin reset options such as ‘Reset from’ and ‘Reset on transport’.
  • ‘Presets’ allows you to quickly purge/unpurge articulations defined for various situations.
  • Holding alt when dragging a mic slider prevents purge/unpurge.
  • And many many more tweaks and fixes.

Albion is available to purchase for £349 GBP ex. VAT. The v4 update is free to Albion users.
