Related: , , Posted in news on Jul 31, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Zenhiser has launched Classic House Drum Sounds, a collection of 250+ authentic retro drum sounds, stabs & one shots.

Zenhiser Classic House Drum Sounds

We knew it was only a matter of time before we received a huge amount of requests for Classic 90’s House drum sounds, and with our love for everything retro we knew it would sit perfectly in the Zenhiser catalogue. Consisting of all the elements anyone needs to create authentic 90’s Classic House drums ‘Classic House Drum Sounds’ weaves it’s way through Jackin’ 90’s House, Classic Piano House, 90’s Techno, Italo House, the early UK Garage sound and just about everything in between.

The drum sounds within ‘Classic House Drum Sounds’ sound truly authentic, there’s no crystal digital drums, instead a little dirt, some sharp frequencies and the odd vinyl crackle which makes these vintage house drum sounds refreshingly iconic. Included in the sound pack are hi hats, kicks, percussion, snares and misc sounds including vinyl crackle and vocal stabs. To finish the classic house drum pack off we also included ‘Instruments’, a select collection of oldskool chord stabs and instrumental one shots.

The sample pack is available for purchase for $35 AUD.

HISS and a ROAR releases Tortured Wood sound library

HISS and a ROAR has released Tortured Wood, a unique 7GB sound library featuring the sounds of breaking wood.

HISS and a ROAR Tortured Wood

Tortured Wood? Hell yes! We’ve spent the last month breaking wood, slamming 40kg poles into stacks of debris, throwing pallets, planks and furniture around as loudly as possible! We also tortured wood in our quiet foley room, rendering half a dozen baskets into kindling & capturing some truly nasty crunches, creaks and breaks.

Primarily captured with Sennheiser MKH8040 ORTF microphones, we also used contact mics at times (although its very difficult to keep them attached to disintegrating wood!) We also captured some of the louder moments to Nagra 4.2 which will be released as a free update to this library, once final demonising is complete.

The library is available for the introductory price of $79 USD until August 9th, 2014 (regular $99 USD).

Acustica Audio releases new Red Eq equalizer

Related: , , , , , Posted in news on Jul 31, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Acustica Audio has launched the new Red Eq, a free equalizer effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Acustica Audio Red Eq

Red Eq is a free equalizer which provides three fixed bands at 80Hz, 1.8kHz and 8kHz, the upper and lower bands being shelving while the middle has a traditional bell response.

There’s an ample 16dB of cut and boost, and though the EQ may look limited compared to a parametric, it actually sounds nicely musical and the frequencies have been chosen with care. A five-section led level meter and an output gain knob allow you to control the overall output level from the unit up to a maximum of +6dB. A red warning lamp lights if the signal approaches clipping, due to excessive use of boost on already hot signals. It can be used to make adjustments in the most needed areas of the audio spectrum without the sound losing its focus.

Red Eq features

  • Mac OS X: VST 32/64-bit, AU 32-bit.
  • Windows: VST 32/64-bit.
  • New CORE5 engine (improved performances).
  • Delay time significantly reduced.
  • New installer.
  • Faster loading and less dropouts.

The plug-in is a free download (requires registration, also free).
