Loomer has released version 1.4.0 of Aspect, the semi-modular synthesizer for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.

Aspect is a 32-note polyphonic synthesizer with an open ended semi-modular architecture, streamlined interface, and analogue sounding synthesis engine.

Changes in Aspect v1.4

  • Support for the sustain MIDI controller.
  • Lag Generator component now only filters audio rate modulation sources when the Lag is set to above 0%.
  • Lag Generator output can now be used as an audio source, as well as a modulation source.

Aspect is available for Mac, Windows and Linux in various formats, for £65 GBP. A trial version can be downloaded from this page.

Where many new VSTi offer tons of interesting “sounds”, Aspect is quite refreshing. It’s a simply designed and musical sounding synth, ready to work. The presets are fairly conservative which helps to give you an idea of what the synth is about – good tone. A pleasant GUI makes it easy to program. The basic design concept here reminds me a bit of the Novation V-Station.

Nice to see Linux users acknowledged as well.

I like Aspect a lot. Not sure what it is exactly but it just sounds really good to me. I agree about the GUI, very friendly.

I used it on as the main synth on this track.
