Musicians Institute, the College of Contemporary Music in Hollywood, CA, has partnered with renowned software company Propellerhead to feature the Reason digital audio workstation (DAW) as a major part of MI’s curriculum beginning in Fall 2014.

Reason-focused courses at Musicians Institute

MI’s new Reason-focused courses will be required for all students in Performance Programs for Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keyboard Technology and Vocals.

As part of the school’s blended learning initiative, which pairs classroom instruction with digital delivery of multimedia content, MI will install Reason in a variety of computer lab workstations across campus. Students will also have access to special discounts that allow them to purchase Reason for their own personal use. The partnership will ensure that MI has continual access to the latest Reason upgrades, and will enable Propellerhead to incorporate feedback on how their software is used by MI faculty and students.

“In today’s music industry, musicians are expected to be proficient in both the recording and performance fields,” said Donny Gruendler, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Musicians Institute. “MI is dedicated to providing our students with the tools they need to stay on the cutting edge of contemporary music, and Reason is the perfect program to do just that. We’re excited to partner with Propellerhead, a company that shares our mission to provide an innovative and well-rounded music education.”

Reason at Musicians Institute

“Musicians around the world choose Reason software because it offers a powerful tool set, inspiring workflow, and endless creative possibilities,” said Gerry Bassermann, Director of North American Sales at Propellerhead. “We’re thrilled to partner with Musicians Institute to make Reason a key part of their academic curriculum. We look forward to sharing in the development of the next generation of music artists.”

Reason audio production software offers guitarists, bassists, drummers and other musicians all the tools and instruments they need to turn ideas into music. With an intuitive visual workflow that accelerates the creative process, Reason makes it easy to record and mix great-sounding tracks. An expandable rack of instruments, samplers, drum machines, effects modules, and guitar processors provides an endless array of inspiring sounds. The Propellerhead Rack Extension audio plug-in platform enables musicians to expand their workflow even further with additional instruments and effects that integrate seamlessly into the Reason rack.
