Drum Broker intros Special Limited Edition: Cocaine Synths

!llmind Cocaine Synths

The Drum Broker has released Cocaine Synths, a limited edition sample pack by !llmind.

“Aggressive, dirty, inspiring and addicting. In a nutshell, this is what Cocaine Synths brings to the table. Drawing inspiration from various analog synthesizers created and used in the 70′s & 80′s, I wanted to create a sample set of loops using those same synthesizers (aka ‘Cocaine Synths’) that evoke those emotions I was so fondly of listening to, growing up as a child.

Here, I’ve created 20 ‘moments’, equivalent to those same moments when the needle touches the vinyl, and you find that perfect section to loop, chop & create a masterpiece from. Warmth, depth, aggression and texture define this sound set. Owning these samples is a no-brainer.” – !llmind

The pack is limited to 100 copies, available for purchase from the Drum Broker for $24.99 USD.

IK Multimedia releases EQ 73 & EQ 81 models in T-RackS CS 4.6

IK Multimedia has announced version 4.6 of T-RackS CS (Custom Shop), featuring the EQ 73 and the EQ 81, two new must-have British EQ models that provide the warmth and tone heard on countless recordings around the globe.

T-RackS CS EQ 73 / EQ 81

EQ 73

The new T-RackS EQ 73 model is based upon a classic British hardware unit that is universally acknowledged as the most used preamp in music recording history. The original “class A” device has a sonic signature almost instantly recognizable to engineers and recording enthusiasts the world over. Thanks to its unique and innovative circuitry the signal passing through it becomes thick and bold making every instrument stand out with audible fullness. The T-Racks EQ 73 model captures this nuance so that even in the DAW environment the tone stays intact.

The EQ 73 is an extraordinary EQ, and our engineers went the extra mile to make sure the part of the preamp circuitry functionality was captured as well — a feature no other emulation on the market has included. The interaction between the preamp and the EQ section is what makes this legendary EQ so desirable. The gain range is so wide that many color shades can be found. At lower settings it adds some harmonic coloration that will make kicks or snare fatter and punchier. Going up the gain hill moves it into downright distortion with an analog saturation rarely found in DAW plug ins. This is a killer function that adds that elusive “analog” character to a sterile sounding track, or provides a new creative effect.

EQ 81

Following in the footsteps of its older sibling, the EQ 81 takes the word versatility even further; the EQ section is composed of 4 independent frequency bands, rounded out by high and low pass filters to eliminate unwanted frequencies from the signal. This EQ powerhouse is at home in practically any mixing work where there is the need to sculpt the tone of a track with precision and musicality. Plus, adding to the versatility is the ability of the high and low shelving bands to become peaking type if needed.

As with the EQ 73 model, IK Engineers made sure the preamp circuitry modeling was ultra-accurate and usable. It’s class A/B circuit design delivers another range of tonal coloration, and while the EQ section is so accurately modeled in the EQ 81, its interaction with the preamp stage is what really sets the module apart providing identical sonic hardware performance not found in other digital models. Countless hours were spent not only in making sure the EQ curves are dead-on accurate, but that the preamp response and overall module interaction was faithful to the original hardware unit.

Both the EQ 73 and the EQ 81 models have the dual concentric knobs found on the original units “separated” for easier and faster shaping, and the unit offers improved readability of the knob positions for quick adjustment.

The T-RackS Model EQ 73 and Model EQ 81 are available for the introductory price of $124.99 USD / 99.99 EUR (excl. VAT) or 125 Custom Shop Credits.

Producertech intros House Production with Ableton Push Part I, a video tutorial course by Paul Maddox.

House Production with Ableton Push Part I

This is a course for anyone wanting to get into producing House music with Ableton’s Push, by one of the most respected producers of the last decade, Paul Maddox. With numerous releases under his own name and also his co- productions as Spektre, on labels like Data, Positiva, Tidy and Viscious, his tracks have seen support from revered DJs such as Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin and James Zabiela.

On this course, Paul shows a hands-on approach to making music, using Ableton’s revolutionary control surface Push. Multiple drum tracks are created, sequenced, layered and processed, with parts played in live or programmed with Push’s step sequencer and then edited with the hardware controls. A funky bassline is then added to complete the groove, created from scratch with the Live Suite synth Operator.

Accompanying the lessons is a download pack containing the Live Set from the course and over 100 extra house drums hits and bass samples from the Loopmasters collection.

The course is available from Loopmasters for £14.95 GBP.

TAL-Bassline-101

Togu Audio Line has updated its TAL-BassLine-101 and TAL-U-NO-LX synthesizer instruments for Windows and Mac.

We updated TAL-BassLine-101 and TAL-U-NO-LX-V2. This update adds a global MIDI Program Change switch to disable MIDI program changes.

We had to remove default preset loading while starting a new instance to allow a clean loading of the plug-in state in some hosts. We also fixed that.

Changes in BassLine-101 v1.41 & U-NO-LX v2.41

  • Default preset loading while loading a new plug-in instance removed. This fixes a preset loading issue in ableton live OSX.
  • MIDI program change disable switch in menu.
  • Automation-Lag in ableton live fixed (1.41, 2.41).

The synth plug-ins are available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/AAX), priced at $60 USD.

Odo Synths has announced the release of version 3.0 of its Dream 64, a free chip synthesizer instrument for Windows.

Odo Synths Dream 64

Dream 64 is not an SID emulator, but it’s a plug-in that can recreate sounds that are used in chip-music. It’s inspired by the SID chip from the old but good Commodore c64 but with some extra features for fun.

Dream 64 v3.0 features

  • All sequencers have a start and end loop but start always at step one.
  • Start-step never can be higher than the end.
  • Every sequencer has its own BPM rate or all have one manual rate.
  • 8 step Wavetable sequencer with audio on/off (gate effect).
  • 8 step Arp sequencer notes from c to c3 and one c4 note.
  • 8 step Ring modulation sequencer notes from c to c3 and one c4 note.
  • A Bitcrusher only for the ringmod. This is nice if you use the Wavetable.
  • 16 step easy to edit filter-sequencer. Can be used for nice bass sounds because it has an end step (will sustain).
  • Waveforms for the oscillator are saw, triangle, pulse, noise, ringmod mode. The noise is very special – it can be pitched by key or fixed.
  • Oscillator octaves from -3 to 2.
  • Ring modulation oscillator notes from c to c3 and one c4 note and a bitcrusher (this is nice for the wavetable sequencer).
  • 2 LFOs with 21 waveforms BPM rates and manual with inverter.
  • The LFOs can start (key sync) (host sync) and (free run).
  • Destinations of the LFOs are pitch/pulse/ring osc and Filter.
  • 2 modulation envelopes with inverter and BPM retrigger.
  • Destinations Pitch/pulse/ring modulation.
  • Filter Envelope can be switched to the filter sequencer.
