112dB has released Big Blue Compressor, a tube-modeling compressor effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

The Big Blue Compressor is a modern compressor with vintage qualities. Although it can sound transparent whenever necessary, it was designed to give character and warmth to your sound.

Modern features from the digital world, including a Look Ahead function, are paired with qualities from the analog world, such as the saturation of transients that is typical of tube compressors. Far more than a tool to compress the dynamic range of sound, the Big Blue Compressor gives you unprecedented control over the character of the compression algorithm and the esthetics of the output sound. This enables you to vary from very clean and smooth results to dramatic reshaping of the sound transients.

112dB Big Blue Limiter

112dB has released version 1.1 of Big Blue Limiter, a tube-modelling character limiter effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Big Blue Limiter is a character limiter. It is neither transparent nor intended to be. In fact it adds a little mojo to everything you run through it, if desired even when no limiting is taking place. Big Blue Limiter uses analog tube modelling in its limiting circuitry, which makes any limited warmer and fatter by adding a pleasing amount of coloration. And as if that weren’t enough it also features an independent preamp that just loves to be overdriven.

With its versatile sound, intuitive interface, easy operation, and negligible CPU load Big Blue Limiter feels equally at home during a mix session and a mastering session.

Changes in Big Blue Limiter v1.1

  • New: Modern skin by WitchGraft.
  • Fixed: Scrolling the mousewheel down caused controls to jump to their maximum value.
  • Fixed: LookAhead knob was stuck in Ableton Live.
  • Fixed: Drive setting reset to off during Wavelab 6 render.

Big Blue Limiter is available to purchase as an effect plug-in for PC and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AS) for an introductory price of 99 EUR (Europe) / $99 USD (worldwide) through September 22, 2010 (regular price 149 EUR / $149 USD).

An unrestricted 60-day evaluation version is available to download from the 112dB website.
