112dB Redline Monitor

112dB has released Redline Monitor, a sophisticated near-field monitor simulation for mixing and mastering on headphones.

Redline Monitor is a listening, mixing, and mastering tool. It replaces the extreme stereo separation that is characteristic for headphones with the detailed stereo image of near-field monitor speakers.

Its proprietary algorithm performs a sophisticated combination of filtering, frequency-dependent delaying, mid/side processing, and room simulation to create a convincing acoustic soundstage that allows you to properly localize sound sources. It also adjusts the relative levels of panned sources as they appear on speakers, and moves the soundstage from an indeterminate location inside your head (with headphones) towards a clearly defined location in front of you.

Redline Monitor features

  • True stereo soundstage with adjustable left/right speaker position from 30° to 90°.
  • Transparent sound with flat frequency response (±0.1dB for the entire 10Hz-22kHz range).
  • Phantom center separately adjustable from 0dB to -3dB for optimal speaker matching.
  • Distance control from 0m to 2m to simulate placement of near-field monitors in room.
  • Auxiliary left/right solo and phase invert controls for critical listening.
  • Output switchable to mono for mono-compatibility checking.
  • Support for samplerates up to 384kHz.
  • Flexible MIDI learn system.

Redline Monitor is available for Windows and Mac (RTAS/VST/AU) for an introductory price of $69 USD / 69 EUR (valid through April 21, regular price will be $99 USD / 99 EUR). An unrestricted 60-day evaluation version is available here.

112dB Morgana

112dB has released Morgana, an authentic representation of a vintage digital sampler, designed to be musical rather than accurate.

Morgana doesn’t try to boast the most impressive spec sheet, or the most transparent sound. By returning to a simpler architecture, Morgana actually transcends the limitations of typical software samplers, creating an experience that sounds and feels like an actual instrument–one that is inspiring and with a sound all its own.

Morgana features

  • 16 voice digital sampler.
  • Two part multitimbrality.
  • 8-bit sampling rate.
  • Variable sample rate from 10.1KHz to 29.41KHz.
  • Two APDSR envelopes for filter and amplitude.
  • Two sample oscillators per voice.
  • 4-pole analog modeled filter per voice with cutoff and resonance controls.
  • Keytracking generator for filter cutoff.
  • Relative level, cutoff, transpose, and detune per sample.
  • Non-destructive input modeling with antialias filter, mic preamp, and gain control.
  • LFO with MIDI clock sync.
  • Flexible MIDI learn system.
  • SampLink technology for full-featured realtime sampling capabilities.
  • Support for WAVE, AIFF, and ReCycle (.REX/.RX2) sample formats.
  • Support for different tunings through .SCL tuning files.

Morgana is currently available for Windows (VST) as a download version (30.5 MB) for the price of 169 EUR. (This price includes the upcoming RTAS version for Windows and RTAS/VST/AU version for Mac OSX, which will be made available as a free download for all registered users when they become available).
