Akai Pro announces APC40 mkII, APC Key 25 & APC mini

Akai Professional has announced the APC40 mkII, APC Key 25, and APC mini, three new Ableton Live controllers.

Akai Pro APC series 2014

In 2009, Akai Professional partnered with the creators of Ableton Live, a powerful performance and production software environment, and introduced the original Ableton Performance Controller. With the debut of the APC40, Akai Pro raised the standards for controller design and revolutionized Ableton Live software and hardware integration. Akai Pro now unveils the reimagined APC40 mkII along with two compact Ableton Live controllers—APC Key 25 and APC mini.

APC40 mkII

Akai Pro’s flagship Ableton Live controller, the new APC40 mkII, incorporates five years of user feedback into its design for extended functionality, countless musical capabilities, and improved workflow. The APC40 mkII features a 5×8 RGB LED clip-launching matrix, assignable A/B crossfader, 8 rotary knobs, 8 channel faders, and a send button for quick access to send busses.

AIR Ignite

AIR Music Technology has released version 1.2 of its Ignite music creation software.

Offering an entirely unique approach to making music with computers, Ignite v1.2 adds over a dozen features and enhancements, while delivering seamless integration with a growing list of top-name controller hardware from Alesis, AKAI professional, and M-Audio.

Ignite provides an original and musician-centric way to craft music. Free of the constraints of traditional DAW software, Ignite allows musical ideas to be quickly captured, combined, and arranged—with professional results. With Ignite v1.2, improvements have been made to the intuitive graphic interface. The Arranger screen now makes it simple to duplicate ideas (called Clips), encouraging experimentation. The timeline graphics have been updated, and other workflow enhancements have been added to advance the user experience.

“The response so far has been tremendous, with over 25,000 users having already downloaded Ignite. We’ve been getting a steady flow of feedback, some of which we have already used to drive the improvements in Version 1.1 and 1.2. Customers have started to post and share music they have created using Ignite,” said Samara Winterfeld, Principal Product Manager for AIR Music Technology. “We are thrilled with the response Ignite has received from our M-Audio customers and are equally excited to bring the same level of integration to Akai and Alesis customers.”

From day one, Ignite has offered seamless integration with M-Audio keyboard controllers, eliminating any time-consuming mapping and set-up chores. Ignite v1.2 now supports twelve popular Alesis and AKAI Professional keyboard controllers with this same plug-and-play integration, meaning that the vast majority of people using keyboard controllers now have full access to Ignite—for free.

Ignite v1.2 is available via download to owners and purchasers of supported products. In addition to keyboard controllers, Ignite will also be included with a select group of audio interfaces including the new M-Audio M-Track Series and the popular M-Audio Vocal Studio.

AIR Ignite gets iZotope Radius time-stretching & pitch-shifting

AIR Ignite

iZotope has announced it has licensed Radius to AIR Music Technology for inclusion in the Ignite.

Ignite, a desktop recording and creative software solution, is for musicians looking to capture ideas quickly and easily with M-Audio, Akai Pro and Alesis MIDI keyboard controllers. Radius, a time-stretching and pitch-shifting algorithm, will provide Ignite users with even more control over their creative workflow.

“When we were looking for a time-stretching algorithm for Ignite, iZotope was the first company we thought of because of the pedigree of their technology. Even at extreme tempo changes, the quality of Radius is very high,” says Principal Product Manager Samara Winterfeld of AIR Music Technology. “iZotope worked closely with our development team on ways to optimize the integration, which is also something that is very important to us.”

Ignite features Smart MIDI technology to help jump-start ideas and enhance music-making skills. In addition to hundreds of onboard instruments and extensive MIDI control, Ignite supports two tracks of simultaneous audio recording.

“iZotope is very excited to have our high-quality time-stretching and pitch-shifting technology as part of Ignite. It’s a pleasure to support a product that helps musicians quickly create and publish musical ideas so quickly,” says Scott Simon, Business Development Manager at iZotope.

AIR Music Technology will be exhibiting at Hall 5.1, Booth B45 during the 2013 Musikmesse, April 10-13, in Frankfurt, Germany.

AIR introduces Ignite music creation software

Related: , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jan 24, 2013 - comment 0 comments

AIR Music Technology has presented the Ignite music creation software, offering an entirely new approach to making music with computers.

AIR Ignite
Ignite works seamlessly with your M-Audio keyboard, giving you the fastest way to capture ideas and make music.

Ignite is a discrete, standalone music ideation and creation software, built from the ground up to spark creative ideas and enable musicians to build songs in an organic fashion. Ignite stands apart from the traditional music recording software model. These original digital audio workstations, or DAW systems, recreated—and expanded on—the machines, technology, and experience of the recording studio session. By comparison, Ignite mirrors the creative process, and provides the individual musician with a more personal and interactive workspace.

At the heart of Ignite is its non-linear Arranger, which replaces the traditional timeline and tracks-and-lanes format with an interface free of studio jargon. Using Ignite, ideas can be captured quickly in a flowing, effortless manner. Ideas are captured as phrases, called clips. Clips can be any length and don’t have to be aligned into a pre-determined structure (tracks and lanes). Individual ideas can be snapped together in pairs or groups to intuitively construct entire songs. Audio and MIDI clips can be freely combined, edited, and rearranged at will. A collection of effects is available to enhance any clip or recording. Arranging and rearranging clips is simple and invites experimentation. Each clip is color-coded, providing a visually intuitive way to see and work with musical ideas.

Ignite provides seamless integration with any current generation M-Audio controller. A graphic image of the keyboard will appear on screen, and the key parameters will be automatically assigned, or mapped, to the front panel controllers. This tight integration provides an out-of-the-box solution that simply works with no setup chores to perform. Ignite’s Smart MIDI technology assists in the creation of chords, phrases, patterns, and complex arrangements to kick-start or embellish the user’s musical creation.

Included with Ignite are over 275 remarkable instrument sounds developed by AIR Music Technology, based on their acclaimed Hybrid, Strike, Transfer, Structure, and Velvet virtual instruments. Instruments include keyboards, drums, percussion, basses, guitars, synths, strings, brass, and woodwinds.

Ignite features

  • Capture ideas quickly—with professional results.
  • Easily combine and arrange individual recordings.
  • Unique non-technical, musician-centric workflow.
  • Intuitive graphic interface speeds production.
  • Smart MIDI chord & phrase creators aid composition.
  • 275 superior instrument sounds created by AIR.
  • Instant, hassle-free M-Audio integration.
  • Collaborate and share songs via SoundCloud.
  • Export MIDI and audio files for use in any DAW.

AIR will be exhibiting at Booth 6700 at the 2013 Winter NAMM show, January 24-27 in Anaheim, California.
