Allen & Heath has announced the Xone:23, a high performance 2+2 channel DJ mixer.

Allen & Heath Xone:23

The new mixer is packed with pro features that would normally be found in the booth of a top-rated club, including an enhanced version of the legendary Xone filter with resonance control, VCA faders, 3 band total kill EQ, illuminated switches, crossfader curve selector, with styling inspired by the flagship Xone:DB4.

At the heart of the mixer is the renowned analogue Voltage Control Filter (VCF) system offering Low-Pass and High-Pass filters, frequency sweep and ‘mild to wild’ resonance control. There is also an FX loop to connect to third party FX units, which route back in through the filter system.

The 2 stereo channels feature independent level controls for each input enabling up to four stereo sources to be simultaneously routed to the mix, as well as the dedicated send and return system for external FX. The mixer can also be upgraded with the latest Innofader for enhanced scratch performance, available as an accessory from Allen & Heath.

The main mix output and mic input are on professional standard balanced XLR’s, and there is a dedicated record output. The Xone:23 is equipped with comprehensive monitoring facilities, including a booth output with its own volume control, a cue mix control, and signal levels clearly displayed on the 9 segment peak hold meters.

Styled on the Xone:DB4, the Xone:23 includes soft touch, backlit controls, light-piped meters and a distinctive new shaped steel faceplate.

Xone:23 features

  • 2+2 channels with dual phono/line inputs.
  • VCF Filter system – low-pass + high-pass filters plus frequency and resonance controls.

Allen & Heath intros ICE-16D multi-track recorder

Allen & Heath ICE-16D

Allen & Heath has introduced the ICE-16D, an alternative version of the ICE-16 multi-track recorder launched last year.

Both units are 16 In/16 Out audio interfaces, allowing performers and audio engineers to easily capture high quality multi-track recordings direct to a USB drive or interface to a computer. Additionally, the ICE-16D has balanced I/O, designed for those customers using the unit in a studio environment or requiring fully balanced inputs & outputs on AES59 standard D Sub connectors.

Fitted into a compact 1U rack design, ICE-16 and ICE-16D are capable of studio quality interfacing, converting and bi-directional streaming of 16 channels over high-speed USB or FireWire at 24 bit, 96kHz resolution. Alternatively, 16 channels can be simultaneously recorded straight to a USB hard drive or memory stick at up to 24bit 48kHz resolution as a .wav file. The unit is expandable, so you can link units together and synchronize recording of many channels.

Signal and peak metering is provided for each channel and can be switched to show input or output. Headphone monitoring is also included and switches on each channel enable checking of individual or multiple channels. ASIO drivers and Core Audio compliance ensure full compatibility with all the main DAWs, including Logic, Sonar, Cubase and Pro Tools.

ICE-16D features

  • 16 analogue Inputs, 16 analogue Outputs.
  • Front USB socket for quick capturing to USB mass storage devices.
  • Hybrid FireWire (IEE1394) / USB2 .0 16×16 audio interface.
  • Industry standard wav file format.
  • Up to 6 hours of 16 channel audio on a 32GB USB stick.
  • Signal Present and Peak LED metering on each channel.
  • Mono headphone bus for Input or Output monitoring.

Allen & Heath releases GLD OneMix for iPad

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Jul 24, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Allen & Heath has launched GLD OneMix, an iPad app that gives musicians wireless control of their personal monitor mix.

GLD OneMix locks control to a single Aux mix, providing instant access to a customised easy-to-use monitor mix environment.

Multiple iPads can be set up by an Admin user to give numerous musicians personalised monitor control without affecting each other or the FoH main mix. A musician’s own aux monitor mix is assigned and locked into the ‘My Mix’ layer, and a selection of input splits dedicated to the individual musician can be added. Similarly, all other instrument send levels can be assigned to any of the three extra layers, allowing unique personal monitoring configuration. The range of accessible settings is defined by custom permissions for each layer.

When in User mode, the musician is presented with simple-to-use access and control of their aux master level and processing, instrument send levels and processing, if enabled. Depending on the application and the performer’s technical knowledge, the layout and level of access can be kept minimal or extended to a more complex musician’s monitor mix involving a high channel count across multiple layers. Notably, the mix can be tweaked and listened to by both the user on stage and the sound engineer at the desk, enabling easy interaction between the two. Up to 16 iPads running OneMix can be connected to a GLD system.

“Joining GLD Remote, OneMix offers yet more control options for the GLD system. OneMix is a customisable solution for personal monitoring, drilling down the mix into very simple local control for performers without affecting the greater mix environment. OneMix also complements the ME distributed personal monitor system and ideal for wireless In-Ear users who can have a complete wireless system with this app,” comments Nicola Beretta.

The GLD OneMix app is available from the iTunes App Store for $4.99 USD.

Allen & Heath intros ZED-16FX and ZED-18

Allen & Heath has announced the ZED-16FX and ZED-18, two new models to its ZED range of multi-purpose live sound and recording mixers.

x

The new ZED-16FX and ZED-18 each have 10 fully-featured mono channels and 3 or 4 dual stereo channels, respectively, fulfilling the demand for increased channel counts in a compact format.

In keeping with the rest of the range, both mixers have a connection for USB send and return for recording, playback and effects. The 10 mono Mic/Line inputs feature Allen & Heath’s acclaimed DuoPre two stage preamp, 3-band MusiQ EQ with swept mid frequency, and 100mm faders, all in a compact, rack mountable format. The stereo inputs have 2-band EQ and inputs for extra sources, and there are 4 auxes accessible from each mono and stereo channel.

Additionally, the ZED-16FX has a built-in FX processor with TAP tempo delay settings and a 24 bit/48kHz conversion rate, with access to a comprehensive set of 16 in-house designed effects derived from Allen & Heath’s iLive pro touring digital mixing system.

“The ZED-18 and 16FX are the perfect size and format for so many applications. In a rack-sized chassis we’ve packed in 10 mono channels while retaining all the stereo inputs (on ZED-18 there are 7 stereo inputs including the USB). The monitoring and output configuration is the same as the ZED-14 and 12FX, which is really useful in both live sound mixing and studio situations, and they are designed and built to last for ages. Having just used one for a fantastic gig with The Deadly Gentlemen (perk of the job!), I can say that they are an absolute joy to mix on!” comments Allen & Heath R&D designer, Mike Griffin.

Cakewalk’s SONAR X1 LE music production software is bundled with the ZED-18 and 16FX mixers, enabling the user to perform many different tasks, for live performance, live recording, studio recording, or studio mixing. The combination of ZED and SONAR allows the user to capture a straightforward recording of a stereo mix, record tracks individually to build up a song, or insert an FX plug-in from SONAR.

ZED mixers are built to a professional standard, with rotary controls secured to the front panel with steel nuts and high quality components have been used throughout, including Neutrik mic XLR and 1/4″ jack connectors.
