Roland has announced the Mobile UA, an ultra-compact USB audio interface that incorporates newly developed S1LKi sound technology.

Roland Mobile UA

Featuring up to four channels of DSD and PCM audio playback in a small, bus-powered device, the Mobile UA delivers exceptional audio quality and low-latency operation for on-the-go music production, live performance, and general listening enjoyment.

Not much bigger than a deck of cards, the Mobile UA is the world’s smallest USB audio interface that supports both DSD and ASIO. It offers native playback of DSD audio sampled at 2.8 MHz, and Roland’s proprietary S1LKi audio engine also reproduces traditional PCM audio at rates of 44.1 kHz and above with extreme precision. Using the same type of 1-bit D/A converter used in DSD, the resulting conversion produces ultra-smooth, unclouded sound when compared to standard D/A conversion in PCM-based devices.

Mobile UA features

  • World’s smallest USB audio interface that supports both ASIO and DSD.
  • High-quality audio playback from Roland’s newly-developed S1LKi audio engine.
  • Native playback of 2.8 MHz DSD audio.
  • Ultra-compact four-channel audio output.
  • High-powered 158 MW + 158 MW (at 40 ohm load) headphone amp.
  • Supports ASIO and Core Audio; designed for low-latency operation.

VB-Audio releases Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO Bridge

Related: , , , , , Posted in news on Oct 29, 2013 - comment 0 comments

VB-Audio has announced the release of Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO Bridge, a virtual audio device made to manage high resolution audio streams.

VB-Audio HiFi Cable & ASIO Bridge
Audio Applications using regular audio devices can now use ASIO Devices through the Hi-Fi Virtual Audio Cable and ASIO Bridge.

Like the VB-Cable, HiFi Cable is a virtual audio driver (MME, DX, WDM, KS, WASAPI) working as a “Virtual Audio Cable” to connect audio applications together. All incoming signals to the Cable input (Playback Device) go out to the Cable Output (Recording Device). But the HiFi Cable also works with the ASIO Bridge, allowing to route these virtual i/o into an ASIO Device.

Then ASIO Bridge enables every audio application, video game or whatever player, to take advantage of the ASIO device through their native Windows audio interface. It includes the possibility to read DVD with a Windows Player and spread the 6 or 8 outputs on your preferred professional audio device usually driven by ASIO Interface.

HiFi cable supports all sample rate from 8 kHz to 384 kHz, 16 or 24-bits resolution (bit perfect) and up to 8 channels.

The Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO Bridge for Windows is available as donationware.

John Shield WDM ASIO Link Driver

John Shield has released version 1.2 of WDM ASIO Link Driver, which now offers multichannel sound support.

Utilising a virtual WDM sound card, this driver allows you to listen or record windows audio from your ASIO driver or host program. You can make the windows audio appear as an input into the host application, or monitor windows audio as an ASIO output bypassing the host application.

Run your DAW in ASIO mode and still listen to windows audio. It’s also possible using the Link driver, to grab your total ASIO output and feed it back into the ASIOVAD stereo mix making it recordable by live windows streaming applications (i.e. live broadcast, voice chat programs).

Changes in WDM ASIO Link Driver v1.2

  • Can now route all 8 channels into host ASIO inputs (was previously limited by the number of real ASIO device inputs).
  • Substantial improvements to timing code making sound more robust under heavy CPU or when running on slower machines.
  • GUI improvements and more info displayed.
  • Auto check for updates (free updates too).

The WDM ASIO Link Driver for Windows is available to purchase for $14.95 USD.
