Pulse Code releases Modular synthesizer app for iOS

Pulse Code has announced the release of Modular, a modular synthesizer app for iOS.

Pulse Code Modular
Modular, the ultimate synthesizer that will revolutionize your sound.

Modular looks, acts, and sounds like a hardware modular synthesizer to give you features that musicians want such as pulse width modulation, oscillator sync, 4 pole ladder filters, and 1v/oct filter tracking. Traditional modular systems are expensive and out of reach for the average artist. Modular is here to bridge that gap and allow everyone the opportunity to use these powerful synthesizers.

What makes modular special is the audio and visual experience you have with it. The beautifully minimal menu systems and interface, and the ultra-realistic synthesizer graphics are just the beginning. The real beauty is not what you see, but what you hear. Pristine and punchy oscillators that sound great, even at the extreme ends of the frequency spectrum. It starts with band-limited oscillators. Not just traditional methods of band-limiting, but band-limiting that enables each note you play to have the maximum number of harmonics without distorting.

Modular features

  • High fidelity, virtual analog synthesis, using bandlimited oscillators and oversampled filters.
  • Audiobus and background audio modes.
  • CoreMIDI control with external devices or internal sequencers.
  • Beautifully rendered graphics.
  • Dynamic workspace with intuitive navigation.
  • Optional modules available individually or as a Module Bundle.
  • 10-octave keyboard with classically styled arpeggiator.
  • Extensive in app help with detailed module descriptions and guides.
  • Record and export live performance to Soundcloud, Audio Copy, email and iTunes file sharing.

The Modular app for iOS is a free download at the iTunes App Store. Modules are available as in-app purchases for $0.99 USD each or $4.99 USD for all modules currently available.

VirSyn AudioReverb

VirSyn has announced the release of AudioReverb for iOS, a studio quality reverb for Audiobus and your iTunes music library.

AudioReverb is an algorithmic reverberation app which combines the flexibility of vintage algorithmic reverbs with the sonic quality of convolution based reverbs.

The creation of high quality reverb needs a realistic simulation of the important early reflections together with a smooth and colorless reverberation tail.

The early reflections are the most important clue for the human ear to get a feeling about the dimension and character of a room. Most algorithmic reverbs offer a number of different algorithms to simulate different natural rooms like chamber, halls or artificial ones like plates. AudioReverb uses impulse responses from real acoustic spaces and classical reverb algorithms to emulate their acoustical properties.

The resulting reverberation sets new standards in clarity and sense of space! Use AudioReverb for enhancing your listening experience with your favourite iTunes songs. Use AudioReverb as professional reverb plugin to improve the quality of any Audiobus compatible App.

AudioReverb features

  • Algorithmic reverb generation.
  • Smooth reverb tail generation.
  • Early Reflection Modelling.
  • 118 factory presets.
  • 4 Band Equalizer.
  • Audiobus compatible as input/effect/output.
  • Reverberate any song in your iTunes library.
  • Low latency live usage with mic and headphones.
  • Audio recorder.
  • Upload to SoundCloud and File Export.
  • Audio pasteboard for exchange with other Apps.

AudioReverb for iOS costs $9.99 USD.

Sunsine Audio releases Effectus for Audulus

Sunsine Audio Effectus

Sunsine Audio has released Effectus, a collection of 4 stereo effects for Audulus.

Effectus contains 4 stereo effects ready for standalone or Audiobus use.

Effectus features

  • Shifter – Shifter contains a pitch shift section as well as a ring mod section. Both can be used independently or mixed together as well as mixed with the original signal. This is the free demo instrument.
  • Binary (Chop) and Binary (Ring) – Binary is an amplitude modulator or gate device, and comes in two flavors. Binary (Chop) allows exploration of slower speed stereo gating effects while Binary (Ring) brings the amplitude modulation into the audio range, producing ring modulation effects with a different tone than the “traditional” ring modulation in Shifter produces.
  • Mothra – Mothra is a sequenced and filtered reverb. Each input is individually fed through a network of distortion devices, simple low pass filters, and reverbs which are then delivered to a 16 step sequencer providing strange stereo and resonant spaces which can be “stepped” through.
  • Time Gap – Time Gap is a filtered stereo delay with cross feed between the left and right channels. A simple high pass filter is followed by three delay units with two resonant low pass filters placed between them, delays can be cross fed at two points in the signal chain.

Miselu intros C.24 – The Music Keyboard for iPad

Related: , , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jul 10, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Miselu has introduced the C.24, a two octave wireless music keyboard designed for iPad that provides a truly mobile music making experience.

Miselu C.24
The ultra portable C.24 transforms from a flat protective cover into a piano-style keyboard at the touch of a spring loaded latch.

“The vision behind Miselu is to bring physical interfaces to virtual instruments,” says Miselu CTO Jory Bell. “For centuries society has supported artists by building tools for them and we feel that the iPad is the tool for artists today. With the C.24 we built the perfect match to the iPad in terms of aesthetics and functionality.”

Miselu is utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy to connect the C.24 to the iPad. It is compatible with any iPad music app that supports Core MIDI, such as Apple’s GarageBand, Korg’s iMS-20 and iPolysix, NLog Synth Pro, Waldorf Nave, Retronyms Tabletop and Steinberg Cubasis.

To enhance the keyboard performance the C.24 employs technology that has never been used in the music instrument space before. The semi-weighted feel of the keyboard is created by the use of anti-polarity magnets. Additionally each key incorporates an infrared emitter detector pair providing real time analog position data to track the performance. This optical key tracking technology delivers velocity and monophonic aftertouch more accurately than traditional switches.

The C.24 also provides additional tactile controls in a capacitive ribbon controller that extends across the width of the keyboard. The bar is divided into two regions, each with 32 embedded LEDs for visual feedback. One region is configured to function as eight assignable buttons while the other is designed for analog expression such as pitch bend.

Miselu CEO Yoshinari Yoshikawa says, “I founded Miselu with the goal to build innovative music instruments and I believe that we have achieved that with the C.24. I’m looking forward to seeing it in the hands of musicians all over the world and hopefully inspire creativity.”

Audiobus co-creator and Audanika CEO Sebastian Dittmann says, “I’ve been following Miselu’s progress for more than a year. Having met with the team personally more than once I can tell that they’re dedicated to creating innovative solutions that work and are of actual benefit to the users. I’m looking forward to their first product.”

Miselu is launching the C.24 exclusively on Kickstarter. The funding period ends August 8th, 2013. Various rewards are available to backers, including a C.24 Keyboard from the first production batch for $99 USD.
