FabFilter Pro-DS

FabFilter has announced the release of its Pro-DS de-esser effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Featuring ingenious vocal sibilance detection, powerful processing options and insightful metering, truly transparent de-essing becomes effortless with FabFilter Pro-DS.

The unique newly developed Single Vocal algorithm in Pro-DS has an uncanny ability to separate sibilance from non-sibilance in individual vocal recordings. It almost always works right away without the need for complex manual tuning, making the de-esser very easy to set up. Alternatively, the classic Allround detection implements a custom side-chain filter path, tuned to perfection for de-essing full mixes or high-frequency limiting of any material.

The intuitive interface in FabFilter Pro-DS makes it easy to find the right settings quickly with great visual feedback. A large real-time level display shows a scrolling input waveform and highlights the parts affected by the de-essing algorithm, showing you exactly how much processing is going on. Finding the right Threshold setting becomes a trivial task with the circular side-chain input meter around the Threshold knob. In addition, the side-chain filter slider displays a real-time spectrum analyzer, enabling you to easily zoom in on problem frequencies. Advanced GPU-powered graphics acceleration ensures seamless animation and also keeps the main CPU free to do audio processing.

To fine-tune the sound, FabFilter Pro-DS offers optional look-ahead (up to 15 milliseconds) and adjustable stereo linking. In addition to general wide-band processing, linear-phase split-band processing is also available. Together with optional mid/side processing (affecting only the mono or stereo content) and up to four times linear-phase oversampling, Pro-DS is capable of highly transparent de-essing in the most demanding situations. All this power combined with its innovative, easy-to-use interface makes Pro-DS the perfect de-essing solution for any mixing and mastering job.

TC Electronic to Display ‘Live Aid’ Processing for System 6000 MKII for the first time at AES 2012

TC Electronic System 6000 MKII

TC Electronic has announced it will exhibit its state-of-the-art, BS.1770-3 compliant processing and metering solutions for System 6000 MKII at AES 2012 in San Francisco (Booth 1019).

TC Electronic will again be exhibiting at the annual AES convention in the US, displaying the latest solutions for measuring and correcting loudness in post, production, mastering and broadcast.

For the first time, AES visitors will be able to experience ‘Live Aid’ processing for System 6000 MKII. The Live Aid license includes the ALC6 algorithm that introduces no less than five innovative, industry-first features. Without sacrificing audio quality, even OB and Live production may now comply with the latest international standards on loudness and true-peak level. Live Aid also contains the DMix algorithm that is able to downmix, loudness process, headphone optimize and true-peak limit any mono, stereo or 5.1 source. Precise conditioning of a program for Mobile TV, iPod or IPTV is now possible, thus creating a perfect 5.1 audio and a Mobile feed directly off the OB truck.

TC Electronic LM6

In conjunction with TC’s highly acclaimed Radar Loudness Meter, ‘Live Aid’ forms the ultimate package for any production, post or mastering facility delivering content for film or broadcast. In short, the Radar Loudness Display provides the user with coherent information of all relevant loudness data, including history, in a single, recognizable view. The Radar Meter is available on several different platforms such as System 6000 MKII, DB4 MKII/DB8 MKII and LM2, as well as in the form of native plug-ins supporting AAX, RTAS, Audio Suite, AU and VST formats.

All of TC’s loudness solutions reflect the latest standards, even the recently updated ITU-R BS.1770-3. Loudness-related products have already been updated to comply with this brand new incarnation of the BS.1770 loudness standard, including System 6000 MKII, DB4, DB8, DB4 MKII, DB8 MKII, DB2, LM2 and the plug-ins LM6 and LM2. AES visitors are invited to come by the TC booth to experience these newly updated products on site.

Nugen Audio releases ISL—Inter Sample True Peak Limiter

Nugen Audio ISL

Nugen Audio has announced the release of its ISL Inter Sample True Peak Limiter for Windows and Mac.

Finally, there is no need to second guess your sample-peak limiter time and time again, or deliberately increase headroom to avoid a downstream problem. Now you can simply dial in your True-peak limit and let ISL take care of the rest.

ISL is a transparent look-ahead limiter designed to allow you to get on with creative audio production while it takes care of True-peak compliance for you.

ISL uses the standardised True-Peak algorithms of ITU-R B.S. 1770 and related standards and is suitable for the control of audio for Post Production and Broadcast applications. True Peak limiting can also be used to ensure that down-stream Codecs (mp3, AAC etc.) do not introduce distortion into the signal.

ISL features

  • Loudness compatible limiting.
  • Protect against distortion introduced by lossy codecs.
  • Don’t guess, set TP limit directly from the specification to ensure compliance.
  • Mix with your ears, ISL takes care of the rest.

ISL for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AudioSuite) is available to purchase for $249 USD.

TC Electronic LM2 Radar Loudness Meter native plug-in introduced

TC Electronic LM2 Radar Loudness Meter

TC Electronic has announced that its LM2 Radar Loudness Meter technology is now available as a dedicated stereo plug-in supporting all major plug-in formats.

The new LM2 plug-in features TC’s innovative Radar Display that provides a quick – yet detailed – overview of the loudness landscape of any stereo audio signal. The main radar view shows loudness history, while the outer ring displays momentary short-term loudness. Finally, True-peak Levels are shown in real-time on the right side of the user interface, completing the overview.

Further, there are two versatile descriptors that can be set to reflect a variety of parameters – e.g. Loudness Range (LRA) and Program Loudness. Each revolution of the radar can be set from 1 minute to 24 hours, which means that LM2 will in fact log loudness data for up to 24 hours continuously.

The LM2 native plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS/AAX/Audio Suite) is available to purchase for the introductory price of $99 USD / 79 EUR until 30 June, 2012 (regular $199 USD / 159 EUR).
