AudioThing releases Soundscapes Vol.1

AudioThing Soundscapes Vol.1

AudioThing has introduced Soundscapes Vol.1, a collection of soundscapes, textures and ambiences ready to use as Kontakt instruments or WAV loops.

These sounds are divided in two main categories as the source materials: concrete and gear. The raw concrete samples were recorded in different places across Europe (Paris, Dublin, London and Naples) using studio or handy equipment. The raw gear samples were recorded from hardware synthesizers like a Custom Eurorack Modular Synth, guitar pedals and noisy toys like a Thingamagoop 2.

Everything was then processed and boxed inside a Kontakt instrument with a custom performance view. The pitch bend is assigned to a ±24 pitch transpose, good for glitch effects. All samples are perfect loops, so if you don’t have Kontakt you can load them directly.

Soundscapes Vol.1 features

  • 30 Kontakt Instruments (.nki).
  • 10 Kontakt Multis (.nkm).
  • 33 Samples (48Khz / 24Bit).
  • Size: 117 MB installed.
  • Formats: Kontakt and WAV (loops).
  • Custom performance view.
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 3.5+ full retail version is required.

Soundscapes Vol.1 is available to purchase for the introductory price of $8 USD until January 19th, 2012 (regular $10 USD).

AudioThing releases TapeStation for Kontakt

AudioThing TapeStation

AudioThing has announced the release of TapeStation, a sample library/virtual instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.

What happens when a ’90s analog synth meets an ’80s tape recorder? We sampled a famous Analogue Bass Synth to tape using a new old stock cassette, and boxed it into a Kontakt Instrument.

The original synth produced fat basses and sharp leads, but now the raw tape sounds and unstable pitch add perfect elements for “tron” like sounds. Each waveform (Sawtooth, Square, Pulse 5%) was sampled chromatically from C0 to C7 and each sample is more then 6 seconds long. In the custom Performance View a Saturation and Limiter Input Gain are added to the original synth’s parameters

TapeStation features

  • 2 Oscillators (Saw, Square, Pulse 5%).
  • 12-24dB/oct filter.
  • 1 LFO (Random, Saw, Triangle) for Pitch and Cutoff.
  • 2 Envelopes.
  • 24 Factory Presets.
  • 24 User Presets (save function within the Kontakt GUI).
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Size: 200 MB installed.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2.2 full retail version is required.

TapeStation for Kontakt is available to purchase for the introductory price of $9 USD until October 24, 2011 (regular $12 USD).

AudioThing releases Pong Glockenspiel for Kontakt

AudioThing has announced the release of Pong Glockenspiel, a sample library for Kontakt 3.5.

AudioThing Pong Glockenspiel

Why use sticks when you can use ping pong balls? Pong Glockenspiel is a Kontakt Instrument made by recording a toy glockenspiel played with ping pong balls.

Two velocity layers (hard and soft) are cross faded to have a smooth transition while the 3 round robin (repetitions samples) avoid the “machine gun” effect of sampled instruments.

Tweaking the controls in the custom performance view you can alter the instrument making many new sounds. There are also two ambient instruments and two synth pad instruments crafted using the original samples.

Pong Glockenspiel features

  • 6 Kontakt Instruments (.nki).
  • 3 Round Robin.
  • 2 Velocity Layer (cross faded).
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Size: 82 MB installed.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 3.5+ full retail versions is required.

Pong Glockenspiel is available to purchase for $5 USD.

AudioThing releases Wood & MilkShake for Kontakt

AudioThing has released Wood and MilkShake, two sample libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt.

AudioThing Wood

Wood is an organic material, found in plants, and used for many purposes such as making musical instruments. Many wooden instruments are idiophones, instruments where the vibration of the material itself is the main source of the sound.

Following this concept, Wood is a sample library made by sampling hits, collision or effects with wooden tools (sticks, claves, boards, drums, castanets, bowls and so on). The samples are then processed into different instruments ranging from tuned/untuned percussions, drum kits, hits/noises to sound textures and sound effects.

Wood features

  • 17 Kontakt Instruments (.nki).
  • 4 Kontakt Multis (.nkm).
  • 3 Round Robin and Velocity Layers for most samples.
  • Size: 88 MB installed.
  • Formats: Kontakt and .wav.
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit stereo.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Note: Native Instruments Kontakt 3.5 full retail version is required.

MilkShake combines the sounds of milk and sugar with the Waldorf microQ synthesizer.

AudioThing MilkShake

Have you ever wondered how a milkshake would sound like, if you could sample it? Now you can, with the new AudioThing instrument MilkShake! MilkShake lets you mix three basic ingredients, shake them, filter them and serve them with a nice matrix of effects ready to use. Everything at your fingertips inside a custom performance view. Milk and Sugar samples were carefully recorded using classic kitchen supplies. The Juice samples were, instead, narrowly sampled from a juicy Waldorf microQ sound designed patch. MilkShake it’s perfect for pads, tuned synth-percussions, textures, evolving effects, noises, and so on.

MilkShake features

  • Milk, Juice and Sugar samples.
  • ADR Envelope.
  • 4-pole LowPass filter.
  • Bitcrusher, Rotary, Phaser, Reverb, Delay, EQ.
  • 24 Factory Presets.
  • 24 User Presets (save function within the Kontakt GUI).
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Size: 85 MB installed.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Note: Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2.2 full retail version is required.

The Wood sample library is available to purchase for $8 USD; MilkShake is $7 USD.

AudioThing SX1500, Analog Synth Emulation for Kontakt

Related: , , , Posted in news on May 16, 2011 - comment 0 comments

AudioThing has announced the release of SX1500, an analog synthesizer emulation for Native Instruments Kontakt.

AudioThing SX1500

In the lab, for years, covered by other instruments and things, there was this old Italian analog synthesizer from 1979: the Jen SX1000. Monophonic with just 1 oscillator, it was often called “poor man’s Moog”.

It is always hard to sample analog gears so, instead of trying to clone it (which is obviously impossible for a sampler), we decided to use the samples of each waveform to build an hybrid synthesizer taking advantage of the Kontakt Script language.

It sounds both vintage and new! It is also possible to drift the oscillators to emulate the tuning problems of vintage analog synthesizers and to hear the usual knobs noise caused by dust while tweaking them. The Performance View follows the original parameters scheme adding, of course, new features.

SX1500 features

  • 2 Oscillators (Saw, Square, Pulse 5%).
  • 1 Noise generator (White/Pink).
  • 12dB/oct filter (like the original).
  • 1 LFO (Sine) for Pitch and Cutoff.
  • 2 Envelopes.
  • 24 Factory Presets.
  • 24 User Presets (save function within the Kontakt GUI).
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Size: 118 MB installed.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 4.2.2 full retail versions is required.

XS1500 for Kontakt is available to purchase for $9 USD.

AudioThing Toy Piano

AudioThing has released Toy Piano, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

I always wanted a Toy Piano like Schroeder’s, from Peanuts. I finally got this lovely 2-octaves upright toy piano and I could not resist to sample it and start making sound design. The sound of the piano is produced by metal bars stroke by plastic hammers, almost like a glockenspiel but more deep and warm. The Toy Piano was sampled with the lid both closed and open and percussions samples have been recorded playing the wood case of the Toy Piano with hands, nylon brushes and rubber mallets. There are also two ambient/pad/drone instruments created using samples start/loop tricks and a bunch of effects, both with a custom, tweakable, GUI.

Toy Piano features

  • 3 Round Robin samples for each key.
  • 6 Random release samples.
  • Two sample sets (closed or open lid).
  • Size: 108 MB installed.
  • Formats: Kontakt and .wav.
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Custom performance view.
  • Bonus percussion samples and sound designed instruments.
  • Native Instruments Kontakt 3.5 full retail version is required.

AudioThing Toy Piano is available to purchase for $5 USD.

AudioThing Magical Toy Keyboard

AudioThing has announced the release of Magical Toy Keyboard, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Years ago I used to do circuit bending and I had many little toy keyboards around. This one was one of my favourite, perfect for 8bit and chiptunes genres or just for fun. This Kontakt Library includes all sounds and rhythms from that old toy keyboard.

A little custom GUI let you choose to extend the original range of the instrument and to enable velocity to control the volume of the instrument. There is, also, a low pass filter (just 1 pole) to cut unwanted noise from original samples. The rhythms patch has each rhythm mapped to the white keys (just like the original) and they are tempo-synced to your DAW/sequencer.

Magical Toy Keyboard features

  • 25 Patches.
  • 12 Rhythms.
  • Formats: Kontakt and .wav.
  • Sample resolution: 44.1Khz / 24Bit.
  • Size: 70 MB installed.
  • Custom performance view.

Magical Toy Keyboard is available to purchase for $5 USD.
