Audjoo updates Helix synthesizer plug-in (incl. 64-bit)

Related: , , , Posted in news on Aug 12, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Audjoo has released an updated version of Helix, a virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

Audjoo Helix
Helix is a unique synthesizer-plugin with a sonic clarity beyond the competition. Soaring leads, solid basses, glimmering pads… Helix does it all.

The main oscillators of Helix allow you to pick from hundreds of included waveforms, or load your own. The waveform can be further bent and warped by two sets of controls, A and B. The in-between states are automatically created into something similar to a wave-table. The oscillator can then sweep across this sound-scape for unique and lively sounds.

Changes in Helix (08-08-2013)

  • Proper support for 64bit hosts (VST&AU).
  • Installer for Mac. Installs AU&VST. Universal Binary(32&64bit).
  • On Windows separate dlls: audjoo_helix_32.dll & audjoo_helix_64.dll.
  • The shape-sliders do not cause drop-outs anymore (optimizations).
  • The morphing sounds better with fast rhythmical morphs (think wobbles).
  • Imported wave is pure with all sliders off (try import pure-sine).
  • Support “corrupt” wave-files (exported from wave-designer).
  • Nicer trial-mode-experience (support saving, nag screen comes up a bit later).

Helix for Windows and Mac costs $149 USD. Note that Power-PC Macs are no longer supported.

Big Tick Zen, unversal presets manager updated to v1.5.3

Big Tick Audio Zen

Big Tick has released version 1.5.3 of Zen, the universal presets manager for Windows and Mac.

It loads in any host as a vsti, and acts as a loader for other vstis. So with Zen, you can search for “Rhodes piano” and get a list of all matching presets – regardless of the final vsti (Rhino, Zebra, Absynth… whatever). When you select one of the presets in Zen, the corresponding vsti is automatically loaded to play the requested preset.

Changes in Zen v1.5.3

  • Added an option to extract/expand tags list with no matches in the current list.
  • Extended virtual banks slots to 127.
  • Added a dot indicator to identify untagged presets.
  • Added support for Audjoo Helix.
  • Added infobox messages and credits in the config page.
  • Fixed tooltip message for the previous preset button.
  • Fixed – sometimes tagging a preset would not be uploaded properly.
  • Reduced CPU usage with UI refreshes.
  • Fixed bug with uploading icon (would keep flashing after uploads were finished).

Zen for PC and Mac is available as freeware.

Audjoo Helix

Audjoo has released an update to Helix, a virtual synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

Helix is a Wave-Table-Shaping, Phase modulation, Virtual Analog, Physical Modelling Hybrid Synthesizer. Unusually high sound quality, massive modulation, creative audio-routing and many built-in effects all make Helix a synth easy to like.

  • Bug-fix: Some filters could freak out with very high cutoff-frequency.
  • 100+ new cycles included (for wave-type oscillator).
  • New and improved re-sampling algorithm for the rompler.
  • Slightly quicker startup time.
  • LFO “free”-phase, to feel more analog.
  • More Global LFOs.
  • Global LFO can retrigger each time a new key is pressed.
  • Step-sequencer “key-step” (start at a new step with each key-press).
  • Chorus stereo-flip.
  • Shaper-postgain as a modulation destination.
  • Bugfix when saving patches on mac: properly ask before overwriting.
  • Reverb dry-level.
  • Support tuning in sfz-files.
  • A bunch of new presets.

DMS Audio Sound-Kontrol, sounds for Audjoo Helix

Audjoo Helix

DMS Audio has released Sound-Kontrol, a collection of presets for the Helix synthesizer by Audjoo.

I have created these Synth Patches for Audjoo Helix Synth. They are mostly Pads Suitable for Film, Electronica, Ambient, New Age, Berlin School etc.

Helix is a Wave-Table-Shaping, Virtual Analogue, Physical Modelling Hybrid Synthesizer with a deep rich high sound quality that makes it well suited to pads and textures with depth, although it is quite capable of Bass and Leads etc. Some of the Pads possible in this synth remind me a little of the more powerful Native Instruments Absynth at times and this is not a typical thin sounding Vsti. I’d rate this along side the excellent Albino 3 from Rob Papen, although Albino is more obvious to use from a brand new user perspective. A great all round synth and fairly easy to use once you get to grips with the interface although I have encountered the odd interface bug in Ableton Live.

Sound-Kontrol contains 87 patches for Helix and is available to download at no cost.
