Cakewalk releases Gibson EB 5-String Bass for Dimension Pro

Gibson EB 5-String Bass for Dimension Pro

Cakewalk has announced the release of Gibson EB 5-String Bass, a new expansion pack for the Dimension Pro virtual instrument for Windows and Mac.

This one-of-a-kind expansion pack provides eight accurate bass instruments, painstakingly sampled in 24-bit resolution by Craig Anderton from a pristine example of Gibson’s EB 5-String Bass.

Thanks to Gibson’s unique Tuned Coil Tap pickup technology, the EB 5-String provides eight distinct sounds that form the basis of a group of eight “Pure” sampled instruments. Each note for each sound was sampled individually, allowed to sustain (no looping), then trimmed judiciously for the optimum tradeoff between sustain and reasonable instrument size. All instruments also include ten slides and one FX sound, while the mod wheel emulates pulling back the EB’s tone control. Eight additional “Growl” programs add a gritty overdrive to the eight pure sounds, for a total of 16 programs.

Cakewalk Marketing Director, Andrew Rossa, states, “the Gibson EB 5-String Bass Expansion Pack showcases the musicality, realism, and technical excellence you’d expect from Craig Anderton—and then some, given the EB’s exceptional sound quality. These sounds are a ‘must-have’ for any Dimension Pro owner who wants to incorporate the finest electric bass sounds possible into their productions.”

The Gibson EB 5-String Bass Expansion Pack costs $39.95 USD. Until February 28th, 2014, it is available for an introductory price of $19.95 USD as part of Cakewalk’s “Bass Month”.

Roland unveils AIRA product line: TR-8, TB-3, VT-1 & System-1

Roland has unveiled its AIRA product line, comprising the TR-8 Rhythm Performer, TB-3 Touch Bassline, VT-3 Voice Transformer, and System-1: Plug-Out Synthesizer.

Roland’s newly developed Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) faithfully captures the sound and feel of some of our most revered classics. ACB is the technology behind the authentic sound and responsive behavior of the AIRA products.

It utilizes original design specs, consultation with original engineers, and a detailed, part-by-part analysis of each analog circuit in Roland’s own pristine units.

TR-8: Rhythm Performer

Roland TR-8
Authentic TR-808 & TR-909 experience in a modern, performance-ready instrument

The TR-8 is a performance rhythm machine that melds the legendary sound and vibe of the TR-808 and TR-909 with features and functions for the modern age.

Genre-defining sounds, classic effects, unprecedented live pattern manipulation, and solid, intuitive performance controls. It’s the TR…evolved.

TB-3: Touch Bassline

Roland TB-3
The magic of the TB-303 with new sounds and modern, performance-ready features

Based on the wildly influential TB-303, the new TB-3 Touch Bassline is a performance-ready bass synthesizer with authentic sound and intuitive controls engineered to play.

The TB-3 contains the unmistakable character of its predecessor, wrapped in a modern package with a pressure-sensitive touch pad that makes both playing and programming a total joy.

VT-3: Voice Transformer

Roland VT-3
Easy voice transformation with vocoder, lo-fi effects, and synths you can sing

Aggressively processed vocals are common in electronic music today, but producing these effects easily and reproducing them live has been a challenge—until now.

With the VT-3 Voice Transformer, you can smoothly alter pitch and formant in real time to introduce heavily processed vocal sounds into your studio tracks and stage performances with zero hassle. On top of that, the VT-3 looks great and works seamlessly with other products in the AIRA series.

SYSTEM-1: PLUG-OUT Synthesizer

Roland System-1
Sounds with character and loads of controls in a Plug-Out capable synthesizer

Back in the 1970s, Roland launched the SYSTEM 100, SYSTEM 100M, and the now almost mythical SYSTEM 700. These modular and semi-modular synthesizers are heralded to this day for their flexibility and character of sound.

In the spirit of its predecessors, the SYSTEM-1 breaks new ground with remarkable flexibility and access to a vast palette of tones with the bold, unmistakable character associated with Roland synthesizers for nearly four decades.

AIRA products will be available by the end of second quarter 2014.

Particular intros Deep Down And Certain – Slide & Swell Subbass

Deep Down And Certain - Slide & Swell Subbass

Particular Audio has released Deep Down And Certain – Slide & Swell Subbass, a sample pack featuring a collection of sliding, bending and undulating bass motions.

As usual with everything Particular, this pack oozes transistor and tube mojo – and a bit of grit. Insert into anything four to the floor and you have a solid foundation right off the bat.

All loops are in mono below 180Hz, ensuring they are solid and safe to add to any track.

Created by playing two sequences in parallell, one for gates and notes and one for pitch undulations through CC sidechaining envelopes, LFOs and portamento note sequences. The rest is just good raw materials.

The sample pack is available from Loopmasters for £14.95 GBP.

Plughugger releases Dr Bob – 150 dance sounds for Spectrasonics Trilian

Plughugger Dr Bob

Plughugger has announced the release of Dr Bob, a sound expansion of 100 new sounds for the Spectrasonics Trilian virtual bass instrument, aimed for modern dance music.

Dr Bob is modern take on the Moog legacy. From the original Minimoog and Taurus pedals to modern models such as the Little Phatty, Spectrasonics Trilian offers a wealth of sampled Moog models.

With this soundset we set out to push the sound of Moog in new directions. Not only is this an expansion with bass sounds, but also contains sounds seldom heard from a Moog: mellow synth plucks, lush pads, inspirational arpeggios and old-school stabs(!).

As a bonus, Dr Bob comes bundled with the additional soundset Fat Bastard.

Plughugger Fat Bastard

Fat Bastard is a collection of 50 presets based on the experimental and weird waveforms from the Metasonix Assblaster, and works well as a counterweight to the polished and well-behaved Moog waveforms.

A bit of a warning though. These sounds are a bit all over the place and are not as “sophisticated” as the sounds in the Dr Bob soundset.

The Dr Bob library is available to purchase for the introductory price of 9.90 EUR until February 16th, 2014 (regular 14.90 EUR).

Multiples Pro releases Sub Bass Vol 2 sample pack

Multiples Pro has launched Sub Bass Vol 2, a free sample pack featuring sounds from the upcoming Sinus instrument library for Kontakt.

Multiples Pro Sub Bass Vol 2

As we move forward with music production we tend to try a layer sounds to create frequency rich palettes that give weight to our work.

Nothing more needs to be said in regards to bass because we spend a huge amount of time creating the best and weighty sounds we can.

But we decided that on this occasion we would instead of using the tried and tested synthesizers or the usual 808/909 combo, create our own Sub Bass synth and sample it for this library.

And so we did……

Sub Bass Vol 2 features

  • 10 multisampled sounds from c1-c3 in .wav format.
  • 10 fully mapped Kontakt sample banks.

The sample pack is a free download via “Pay by Tweet”.
