Related: , , , Posted in news on May 20, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Wavesfactory has announced W-TubularBells, a virtual instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Wavesfactory W-TubularBells

Tubular Bells, or Orchestral Chimes, are musical instruments in the percussion family. Each bell is a metal tube, 30–38 mm in diameter, tuned by altering its length.

It rarely plays melody, mostly a bass that brings out some color but sometimes has some solos or solis, often very simple.

W-TubularBells features

  • 4 mallets (hard plastic, metal, felt, thin metal).
  • Up to 12x round robins.
  • Full decay.
  • No pitch-shifting, all notes sampled.
  • Top quality mics, preamps and converters.
  • 2 mic positions (close, far).
  • 2.4GB installed, stereo WAV files, 44.1KHz 24bit.

The library is available to purchase for 9.95 EUR.

Hzandbits releases Metal Bars & Bells sound fx pack

Hzandbits Metal Bars & Bells

Hzandbits has announced Metal Bars & Bells, a sample pack featuring a collection of bell-like sound effects in 24bit/96kHz.

No actual bells were harmed in the making of these sounds – but several other metal objects were.

From crow bars and stainless steel soap trays, a selection of highly resonant and beautiful sounds were coaxed. From sustained tones to short percussive hits; from distinctive sinewaves to shimmering, phasey goodness.

This collection contains several sounds from each object, giving you plenty of musical variety. Drop them straight into your favorite sampler, add healthy doses of reverb, delay and other effects, and you’re off to see the wizard. Or something.

Metal Bars & Bells is available for $16 USD. A 50% discount is available to newsletter subscribers.

Soundiron releases Circle Bells 2.0 for Kontakt

Soundiron Circle Bells

Soundiron has announced the release of Circle Bells 2.0, a sample library recorded with a rare and unique instrument called “Blossom Bells” created by Pete Engelhart.

This hand-welded tuned percussion instrument features six steel conical bells that are tuned to different keys and spread out in a fan arrangement. Each bell has a deeply rich, warm and sonorous tone with a long sustain and crystalline clarity. We recorded them with soft mallets, hard picks and viola bow with both single-strikes/staccatos and rolls/sustains for each articulation.

Its distinctive sound evokes the feel of a steel Marimbaphone or Celeste when played with mallets and a glass armonica when bowed, yet its character and undulating resonance defies any direct comparison to any other instrument.

The new upgrade gives this classic tuned percussion favorite a complete upgrade and overhaul. Originally released in 2009 back at Tonehammer, this new 2.0 for Kontakt 5 now restores all of the sample content to the previously unavailable full depth, size and fidelity that was captured in the original recordings.

Now at over 5.5GB and 2893 samples, Circle Bells offers up to 10X round-robins and as many as 18 velocity layers per note, depending on the articulation. We’ve also added a big new selection of atmospheres, leads, pads, glitchified grooves and tonal sound-scapes, all crafted from the original raw acoustic source to provide beautiful sonic accompaniment and creative inspiration. We’ve programmed it into our popular modular layer-builder system giving you the power to load and customize any articulation instantly and blend it with another. We’ve also added a complete rack FX panel to further expand your creative options.

Circle Bells 2.0 is available to purchase for the introductory price of $39 USD through April 1st, 2014 (regular $59 USD). Requires the full retail version of Kontakt 5.1 or later. Existing owners of the original 1.0 can get the expansion for $5 USD through a special upgrade email.

AfroDJMac releases free Jingle Bells for Ableton Live

AfroDJMac has released Jingle Bells, a free Ableton Live Pack.

It’s become a tradition around here to create an Ableton Live Pack especially for Christmas. Nothing really evokes the feelings and memories of Christmas quite like the sound of jingling bells!

This year I have decided to sample my sleigh bells. I did so using Rode NT5 mics, which I recently had modified by Michael Joly (he can turn entry level mics into high-end works of art). So to celebrate, I’ve created not one but four different instruments for your holiday pleasure.

The pack is a free download at AfroDJMac.
