FXpansion BFD Sleishman

FXpansion has announced the release of BFD Sleishman, a set of 2 expansion packs for BFD2 and BFD Eco that capture the sensitivity, tone and dynamic range of Sleishman drums.

Sleishman’s extraordinary free-floating drums enjoy legendary status by those drummers in the know, and by those lucky enough to own them. The Sleishman system of suspending the shell without any physical contact with lugs and other hardware results in unbeatable sustain and purity of tone. The drums’ patented tuning system keeps both heads precisely in tune with each other, resulting in a very unique sound.

This means that the BFD Sleishman expansions offer a very individual drum flavour: ultra-refined and full of thick, sustained tone.

BFD Sleishman features

  • 2 Low-cost, download-only expansion packs for BFD2 and BFD Eco.
  • BFD Sleishman Drums features a 20″ kick; 10″, 12″ and 14″ toms; and a bonus ‘lite’ snare.
  • BFD Sleishman Snares features 4 premium snares, some played with rods or brushes.
  • Extra tom articulations when used with BFD2.

BFD Sleishman Drums and BFD Sleishman Snares are available to purchase as a download for £25 GBP / €35 EUR / $50 USD each. A bundle of both packs is available for £38 GBP / €52 EUR / $74 USD (Save 25%).

FXpansion BFD Eco

FXpansion has announced the release of BFD Eco, an easy but powerful software instrument for acoustic drums.

BFD Eco is a streamlined, fun and affordable software instrument for acoustic drums, based on the award winning BFD2 engine. Optimized for flexibility and power while being incredibly easy to use, BFD Eco is provided with an extensive built-in library of drum sounds and patterns, and is also compatible with the wide range of FXpansion and 3rd-party add-on expansions.

BFD Eco gives you easy access to the some of the best sounds in the BFD2 library, recorded at London’s Air Studios. The included sounds are full of dramatic levels of detail and mojo… Anything but sterile, BFD Eco is imbued with a musical character that sets it apart from the homogenized, flat sounds found elsewhere.

Included are a multitude of presets that showcase BFD Eco’s powerful, punchy-sounding mixing section. The EQ and dynamics/effect processing allow you to sculpt the raw sounds and lush stereo ambience for any situation. DCAM circuit-modelled compression, filtering and drive provide hardware-style tone and grit, while an integrated version of Overloud’s Breverb plate algorithm can be used for artificial reverb effects.

BFD Eco also contains a Groove section containing over 1500 drum patterns to drag into your DAW, to sequence on the built-in Drum Track or to simply loop continuously. Preview patterns in sync with your project and use the humanization effects to adjust the feel to your needs. You can even export a stereo mixdown from the Groove engine – ideal for generating loops and breakbeats to use as audio tracks or in any sampler instrument.

Other advanced features that set BFD Eco apart from the competition are its customizable keymapping, electronic drum support, the ability to combine kit-pieces from different expansion libraries, and an interface perfectly balanced between ease of use and powerful flexibility. BFD Eco also can be upgraded to BFD2 – both are fully preset-compatible to enable a seamless transition.

BFD Eco features

  • 5 kicks, 6 snares, 12 toms and 3 hihats.
  • 11 cymbals and selection of percussion.
  • 15 built-in effects including EQ, filtering, dynamics, drive, reverb and more.
  • Groove section with over 1500 patterns and advanced humanization.
  • Customizable keymaps and electronic drum support.
  • Built-in Stereo audio export.
  • Over 40 great-sounding presets.
  • Full plugin integration for your digital audio workstation.
  • Compatible with FXpansion and 3rd-party expansion libraries.
  • Upgrade path to BFD2.

BFD Eco is available to purchase for PC and Mac (Standalone/VST/AU/RTAS), priced at £84 GBP / $149 USD / 94 EUR excluding local taxes where applicable.
