Line 6 has introduced AMPLIFi, a high-performance guitar amp with 5-speaker stereo design that includes a streaming Bluetooth speaker system and a breakthrough iOS app.

Line 6 AMPLIFi

High-Performance Guitar Amp with 5-Speaker Stereo Design

AMPLIFi is unlike any amplifier ever built. The five-speaker stereo design delivers stunningly detailed guitar tones, from crystal-clear highs to deep and smooth low end. Featuring two tweeters, two mid-bass drivers, and a custom guitar speaker, AMPLIFi covers a far wider frequency spectrum than any other guitar amplifier, delivering sonic details traditional amps simply can’t produce. AMPLIFi is available in a powerful 150-watt model or portable 75-watt version, both of which can deliver ear-splitting volume levels.

Streaming Bluetooth Speaker System

AMPLIFi is the ultimate Bluetooth speaker system for guitarists, featuring streaming compatibility with Android™, iOS, Mac® and PC devices. The full-range speakers deliver amazing sound, while the custom guitar speaker functions as a thumping subwoofer. AMPLIFi combines playing and enjoying music like no other system, enabling guitarists to jam along with songs in their music library, play back tracks during band rehearsal, or crank up the volume at parties.

iOS App Control and Cloud Connection

The AMPLIFi Remote app for iOS introduces a new world of possibilities. Instead of using static knobs or tiny screens, guitarists can now control every aspect of their tones from an iOS device.* AMPLIFi Remote also introduces revolutionary Line 6 tone-matching technology, which automatically serves up guitar tones that match tracks in a guitarist’s music library.

With a cloud community of guitarists uploading their best patches, AMPLIFi Remote provides a unique and powerful resource for finding guitar tones. Within the cloud community, guitarists can rate their favorite tones, upload their own, and build their musical network by connecting with other musicians and fans. The AMPLIFi cloud automatically keeps all devices up to date and synchronized. Guitarists can store an unlimited number of presets in the cloud–and access them anywhere.

“AMPLIFi is a groundbreaking new amp that promises to change the way guitarists jam, practice and enjoy music forever,” said Max Gutnix, VP of Products and Marketing at Line 6. “It sounds absolutely amazing and delivers a uniquely incredible experience that players of all levels are going to love. Whether listening to music, jamming with friends or creating inspiring new tones to share, AMPLIFi is going to rock your world.”

Kapture, the audio recording wristband that allows you to save and share what was just said, is pleased to announce the success of their recent Kickstarter campaign.

Over 1,228 backers supported the month-long campaign with a total of $162,386 being pledged, exceeding their goal of $150,000, and putting them in the less-than-one-per-cent of Kickstarters that raise over $100,000.

“The success of the Kapture Kickstarter campaign can be attributed to enthusiasm for the product’s endless applications in the everyday lives of its supporters,” said Matthew Dooley, one of Kapture’s co-founders.

During the course of the campaign, the founders remained actively engaged with the Kickstarter community, innovating where they discovered an opportunity.

One such innovation was the Klip, which was designed in response to supporters who wanted an alternate option for accessorizing with the device. In addition, Kapture solidified its status as wearable tech that’s meant to be seen by introducing two luxe metallic editions, putting it in the company of the stylish iPhone 5S and Google Glass. Initially offered in five on-trend colors, Kapture is now also available in 14K gold and chrome, thanks to a partnership with 3D printing powerhouse Shapeways.

Kapture will be accepting pre-orders through its website starting November 1st, 2013. Kapture’s public release is planned for March 2014.

IK Multimedia releases iRig BlueBoard wireless MIDI pedalboard

IK Multimedia has announced the release of iRig BlueBoard, a Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac.

IK Multimedia iRig BlueBoard

iRig BlueBoard is the first wireless MIDI pedalboard for iOS and Mac that uses Bluetooth technology to transmit MIDI messages, allowing a user to control the functions of their favorite music-making apps. Any MIDI compatible app – such as IK’s AmpliTube, VocaLive, SampleTank, iLectric Piano, iGrand Piano — or any other Core-MIDI-compatible app like Apple GarageBand, can be controlled wirelessly.

This opens up a whole new world of live performance possibilities. The user can switch between presets, change patches, and turn effects on and off from up to 10 meters away. The user can even connect pedals (not included) for further control of continuously variable parameters such as volume and wah, without being tied by cables to a mobile device.

iRig BlueBoard is small enough to fit into a laptop bag and works with any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad supporting Bluetooth 4.0. It also works with any Mac that supports Bluetooth 4.0 / Bluetooth Low Energy. The iRig BlueBoard app runs in the background on a mobile device or Mac, translating Bluetooth signals into MIDI signals.

iRig BlueBoard features

  • Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard (10m/32.8′ range).
  • 4 backlit assignable foot switches.
  • 2 1/4″ inputs for assignable expression pedals or switches.
  • Can send Bank Change, MIDI Program Changes and MIDI Control Changes.
  • BlueBoard iOS app runs in background on mobile device or Mac, and translates Bluetooth messages to MIDI.
  • Runs on standard AAA batteries.
  • Small enough to fit in a laptop bag.

The iRig BlueBoard is now available to purchase for $99.99 USD / 79.99 EUR.

Miselu intros C.24 – The Music Keyboard for iPad

Related: , , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jul 10, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Miselu has introduced the C.24, a two octave wireless music keyboard designed for iPad that provides a truly mobile music making experience.

Miselu C.24
The ultra portable C.24 transforms from a flat protective cover into a piano-style keyboard at the touch of a spring loaded latch.

“The vision behind Miselu is to bring physical interfaces to virtual instruments,” says Miselu CTO Jory Bell. “For centuries society has supported artists by building tools for them and we feel that the iPad is the tool for artists today. With the C.24 we built the perfect match to the iPad in terms of aesthetics and functionality.”

Miselu is utilizing Bluetooth Low Energy to connect the C.24 to the iPad. It is compatible with any iPad music app that supports Core MIDI, such as Apple’s GarageBand, Korg’s iMS-20 and iPolysix, NLog Synth Pro, Waldorf Nave, Retronyms Tabletop and Steinberg Cubasis.

To enhance the keyboard performance the C.24 employs technology that has never been used in the music instrument space before. The semi-weighted feel of the keyboard is created by the use of anti-polarity magnets. Additionally each key incorporates an infrared emitter detector pair providing real time analog position data to track the performance. This optical key tracking technology delivers velocity and monophonic aftertouch more accurately than traditional switches.

The C.24 also provides additional tactile controls in a capacitive ribbon controller that extends across the width of the keyboard. The bar is divided into two regions, each with 32 embedded LEDs for visual feedback. One region is configured to function as eight assignable buttons while the other is designed for analog expression such as pitch bend.

Miselu CEO Yoshinari Yoshikawa says, “I founded Miselu with the goal to build innovative music instruments and I believe that we have achieved that with the C.24. I’m looking forward to seeing it in the hands of musicians all over the world and hopefully inspire creativity.”

Audiobus co-creator and Audanika CEO Sebastian Dittmann says, “I’ve been following Miselu’s progress for more than a year. Having met with the team personally more than once I can tell that they’re dedicated to creating innovative solutions that work and are of actual benefit to the users. I’m looking forward to their first product.”

Miselu is launching the C.24 exclusively on Kickstarter. The funding period ends August 8th, 2013. Various rewards are available to backers, including a C.24 Keyboard from the first production batch for $99 USD.

IK Multimedia announces iRig BlueBoard

IK Multimedia has announced the iRig BlueBoard, the first Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Winner of the iLounge “Best in Show” at the recent CES, iRig® BlueBoard, a groundbreaking new Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard for iPhone, iPad and Mac, which gives you: the guitarists, bassists and keyboard players hands-free control of mobile and Mac music apps.

IK Multimedia iRig BlueBoard

iRig BlueBoard is a great addition to any mobile or studio rig for live performance and recording. You can use it to extend control of your preferred music apps by switching presets, changing sounds or modifying effects parameters – all hands-free. You don’t have to put down your instrument, and can remain focused on your performance.

Any music app or software that is MIDI compatible (the standard communication protocol for musical instruments) – such as IK’s AmpliTube, VocaLive, SampleTank, iGrand – or any other Core-MIDI-compatible app like Apple GarageBand, can be operated wirelessly with iRig BlueBoard.

This ultra-portable unit uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology to transmit the actions of its four onboard, backlit footswitches and its two optional external pedals to the mobile device or Mac. Then using the included iRig BlueBoard app and software, the Bluetooth signals are converted into MIDI messages and routed internally to the music app that’s running on the device.

Because it’s wireless, iRig BlueBoard lets you setup onstage without being tethered to your mobile device. The unit’s range is 10 meters (over 32 feet), giving musicians a great deal of mobility to roam the stage that would be impossible with a wired unit. Because the footswitches are backlit, they’re easy to see in all lighting conditions, even on a dark stage. Additionally, the fact that iRig uses wireless Bluetooth leaves all the wired ports of the device free, so they can be used simultaneously by interfaces or controllers that feature the 30-pin or Lightning connector, like IK’s iRig HD, iRig MIDI or iRig Keyboard, and adapters or microphones that use the device mini-jack such as iRig or iRig MIC.

iRig BlueBoard features

  • Bluetooth MIDI pedalboard (10m/32.8′ range).
  • 4 backlit switches for sending program, bank and other MIDI messages.
  • 2 1/4″ inputs for optional expression pedals or switches that can used for sending continuous controller or on/off messages.
  • BlueBoard iOS app runs in background on mobile device or Mac, and translates Bluetooth messages to MIDI.
  • Runs on standard AAA batteries.
  • Small enough to fit in a laptop bag.

iRig BlueBoard is priced at $99.99 USD / 79.99 EUR MSRP (excl. tax), and will be available in the second quarter of 2013.

Alesis introduces MultiMix 10 Wireless & MultiMix 16 USB FX mixers

Related: , , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Jan 25, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Alesis has announced MultiMix 10 Wireless and MultiMix 16 USB FX, two new models to its MultiMix Series of live and recording mixers.

As the name suggests, the MultiMix 10 Wireless now features Bluetooth capabilities, and the MultiMix 16 USB FX now offers onboard effects.

“These mixers bring exciting new features to our popular MultiMix lineup,” says Alesis Project Manager Walter Skorupski. “We are very pleased to add these models to the mix.”

Alesis MultiMix 10 Wireless

The MultiMix 10 Wireless is a 10-channel, rack-mount mixer that is well suited to smaller clubs and venues, houses of worship, and traveling systems. Channels 1-4 are mono and offer both XLR mic inputs (selectable phantom power is provided) and balanced 1/4″ inputs. TRS inserts are also provided. Channels 5/6 and 7/8 are stereo-paired channels, offering left and right balanced 1/4″ ins. Channels 7/8 also offer a pair of stereo RCA inputs. Configured in stereo, Channels 9/10 are dedicated to receiving a stereo audio signal from any Bluetooth-enabled device. Simple, single-button front-panel pairing makes it easy. Each channel offers a peak LED, trim knob, 2-band EQ, pre and post sends, a pan knob, and a smooth-travelling 60mm fader.

On the back panel, the MultiMix 10 Wireless features 1/4″ aux sends and 1/4″ balanced stereo returns. The main stereo outs are 1/4″ balanced, and an additional set of 1/4″ stereo monitor outs are provided. Up on the front panel, the Master section includes additional easy-access XLR+1/4″ combo inputs for Channels 1 and 2 that override the respective rear inputs, making it easy to temporarily connect a microphone or other sound source without removing the mixer from the rack. An 1/8″ jack allows a non-Bluetooth source to access Channel 9. Located alongside the master fader, the twin 10-stage LED meters feature red peak indicators. A dedicated headphone jack is provided; the level is controlled by the monitor/phones knob. A very handy 1/8″ output provides the main mix directly from the front panel.

Alesis MultiMix 16 USD FX

The new MultiMix 16 USB FX performs double-duty as a versatile live and recording mixer and as a USB audio (16-bit, 44.1 or 48 kHz) interface for computer-based recording, even doing both at the same time. This class-compliant connection provides true plug-and-play connectivity with the computer and nearly any recording software. The versatility of the MultiMix 16 USB FX is ideal for the performing musician with a home or project studio.

The onboard processor (FX) offers 8 effect types, with individual sends on each channel. Eight mono channels include both 1/4″ and XLR inputs, with selectable phantom power. Four stereo-paired channels feature 1/4″ inputs. A direct guitar-level input is available on Channel 8. Each channel strip includes a multi-band EQ, sends, pan, and level control. Multi-stage LED metering, dedicated main and headphone outputs with individual levels, and two-track RCA tape ins and outs complete this multi-use mixer. Cubase LE6 is included.

Alesis will be exhibiting at Booth 6700 at the 2013 Winter NAMM show, January 24-27 in Anaheim, California.
