Droomusic Dr. Bob’s Modular, sample library for Kontakt

Droomusic Dr. Bobs Modular

Droomusic has released Dr. Bob’s Modular, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Dr. Bob’s Modular Sample Library is a collection of sounds that combine classic vintage synthesizer technology with the latest cutting-edge sampling programs.

A System 15 modular controlled by an Encore Electronics Expressionist was programmed and sampled using Redmatica’s suite of sample-capture and processing tools. A Moog CP-251 was used to expand the palette of the original synthesizer and allow for greater control options. Those raw sounds were then processed and mapped using Native Instruments Kontakt’s powerful synthesis capabilities. These sounds are inspired by the works of pioneering synthesists like Isao Tomita, Wendy Carlos, Larry Fast, and Jean Michel Jarre.

Dr. Bob’s Modular for Kontakt 3.1+ is available to purchase for $50 USD. Individual sets are priced at $10 USD each. 50% or your purchase price goes directly to benefit the Bob Moog Foundation.

Arturia Minimoog V v2.0

Arturia has released version 2.0 of Minimoog V, a virtual Minimoog synthesizer instrument for Windows and Mac.

From the starship funk lead lines of the 70’s, to the gangster whine of mid 90’s hip-hop, the ever present minimoog has been making its phat presence felt for over 3 decades. In partnership with Bob Moog, we decided to reproduce the legendary interface with the same look and feel than the original because of its particular “mood”, and because many musicians wish to use the same interface they used in the past. But the reproduction of this synthesizer does not stop to the look and feel, we also recreated its inside characteristics…

Minimoog V features

  • All the parameters of the original minimoog V.
  • Advanced automation mode (Minimoog V 2.0 Only).
  • Revolutionary preset navigation system called the SoundMap (Minimoog V 2.0 Only).
  • New formant-analysis-based FX called the Vocal Filter (Minimoog V 2.0 Only).
  • New Chorus and Stereo Delay Effect section.
  • More than 500 presets created by talented artists and sound designers.
  • Lots more.

Minimoog V v2.0 is available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU/RTAS) for $249 USD/229 EUR. A 15-day trial version is available for download here.

Visit Arturia for more information and audio demos.

Propellerhead Software has announced it has recently supported the Bob Moog Foundation with a monetary contribution.

In addition, to raise awareness and entice others to donate, Propellerhead is releasing a free Moog-inspired ReFill to registered users.

With this donation to the Bob Moog Foundation, Propellerhead wishes to help pay tribute to the enormous contribution Bob Moog made to the music industry. The Foundation’s overall mission is to document, celebrate and teach innovative thinking and to support and honor the legacy of synthesizer pioneer Moog. Presently, the Foundation seeks to raise awareness and funds to preserve Moog’s extensive archives.

Industry pro’s (and Reason experts), Craig Anderton, Mark Vail and Gordon Reid, donated their best Moog-style patches, built using Reason’s Thor polysonic synthesizer, with the aim to shed some light onto the world of music synthesis that Bob Moog pioneered. Those patches have been assembled into a single Reason ReFill and are available free to registered Reason users on Propellerhead’s website.

Check the Properllerhead Bob Moog Foundation page and the official Moog Foundation website for more information.

Cakewalk Minimoog Tribute Expansion Pack

Cakewalk has released Minimoog Tribute Expansion Pack, an expansion pack for Rapture and Rapture LE.

Industry icon Craig Anderton has created a stunning tribute to legend Bob Moog with the the Minimoog Tribute Expansion Pack for Rapture. This special expansion pack blends classic Moog sounds with modern synthesis making it a must-have for any Rapture or Rapture LE customer.

Anderton says:

“I didn’t just want to imitate what the Minimoog did, because there are plenty of those sounds available. Bob’s genius was that the Minimoog was adaptable to so many musicial contexts, and this expansion pack adapts his waveforms to yet another context. So while there are some of the analog classics — basses, French horn, vox humana, and others — there are also sounds like richly varying rhythms based on tools like step sequencing”

The Minimoog Tribute Expansion Pack is available to registered Rapture, Rapture LE, and SONAR 7 customers for $49.95 USD via download at the Cakewalk website. In addition to the programs and waveforms, the package includes two informational videos: a photo gallery of the Minimoog used by Anderton, as well as a video with the story behind the programs.

Visit Cakewalk for more information and sound examples.
