Bootsy FerricTDS

Inspired by the smooth dynamic shaping capabilities of some high-end reel-to-reel tape recorders, this plug-in simulates three of the most distinctive and much appreciated sonic effects generated by these devices:

  • DYNAMICS – gently shaping the overall dynamic response
  • SATURATION – adding extra harmonic-related content
  • LIMITING – controlling peak performance

FerricTDS features

  • Performs gentle audio dynamic treatments.
  • Masters difficult to handle audio material.
  • Adds extra harmonics and saturation effects.
  • Controls outgoing audio peaks.
  • State-of-the-art digital signal processing.
  • 4x oversampled core algorithms.
  • Performance-critical parts are written in assembler.
  • Completely SSE-optimized.

FerricTDS is available as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC. It is part of the KVR Developer Challenge 2009.

Bootsy updates Density mkII to v2.0.1

Density mkII

Bootsy has released version 2.0.1 of Density mkII, a smooth and versatile stereo bus dynamic processor for Windows PC.

Density mkII was primarily designed to work in a typical stereo audio group mixing situation or while summing and to glue all things together in a rather unobtrusive way. Yet it’s capable of signal colouring but in a subtle and pleasant way and also can perform quiet different tasks very versatile.

Changes in Density mkII v2.0.1

  • Sudden CPU spiking on some system configurations is fixed now.
  • Plug-In is loading properly into Wavelab now.

Note: There is still an issue with older SSE (SSE1) compatible systems where a fix is already in the making but not yet stable and it is unclear when this will finally been done. Therefore some older machines are still not supported for the moment with this Plug-In release.

Density mkII is available for download as a freeware VST effect plug-in for PC (SSE2 type CPU).

Bootsy releases Density mkII

Bootsy has released Density mkII, a smooth and versatile stereo bus dynamic processor for Windows.

This device ain’t modeled after any specific outboard gear but rather incorporates some proven dynamic shaping approaches from the past, combined in a seamless fashion with some much more modern concepts in audio processing – the best of both worlds.

Density mkII features

  • Perform ultra smooth 2bus compression.
  • Master difficult to handle audio dynamics.
  • Manage mid/side dynamic processing in a true two channel layout.
  • Apply dynamic range adjustments easily
  • State-of-the-art digital signal processing.
  • Zero latency processing, no phase alterations.
  • Performance crucial parts are written in assembler.
  • Completely SSE optimized.

Bootsy announces Density mkII

Bootsy Density mkII

Bootsy has announced Density mkII, a new version of the versatile dynamic processing effect plug-in for Windows.

The rumors were true: After quiet a long time of ignoring any update/improvement plans on this one there is finally a completely reworked mkII version already in the making.

Committing to the original concept of Density, the mkII is also aimed at the very same goal: smooth and versatile dynamic processing on the 2bus to provide density in a mix and so to glue all things together.

So if you expect a general purpose compressor or something (as lots folks had requested) – sorry, look elsewhere, there is absolutely no change on the original objective but just the excecution is way improved.

And that ain’t limited to the DSP under the hood but includes an entirely new designed interface and usage concept. Again, the credit here goes to Patrick which meanwhile really scares me: Seeing the current artwork first time knocked me right out of my chair, thats all I can say for the moment.

More details will follow in July.

Bootsy releases TesslaPRO

Bootsy has released TesslaPRO, a transient aware signal saturator VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.

While TesslaSE has gotten famous for it’s ability to let audio transient information pass through (to a certain extend) TesslaPro is going to extend this further: The amount of untouched transient information can be dialed in variable. This way one is able to obtain full control on where signal saturation is going to happen and how such effects appear into a mix sonic wise.

Bootsy TesslaPRO

TesslaPRO features

  • transformer style signal saturation.
  • smooth transient polishing and increased RMS leveling.
  • transient aware signal saturation.
  • switchable subbass enhancements.
  • subtle and nice audio coloration enhancements.
  • SSE and Assembler optimized sound engine.
  • state-of-the-art digital signal processing.
  • minimum latency processing.
  • harmonic enhancements with low artefacts (aliasing).
  • plugin integration is done with Synthmaker software.
  • performance crucial parts are written in assembler.
  • completely SSE optimized.

TesslaPRO is available as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.

Bootsy announces NastyXTC

Bootsy has announced NastyXTC, an Xciting Transient Controller plug-in for Windows.

NastyXTC features four separate transient controllers plus an additional ‘warmth’ tape like processor and is aimed to enhance the sonic perception of any kind of audio material without that much digital artifacts known from some traditional exciters or enhancers.

Bootsy NastyXTC

NastyXTC features

  • Four transient controllers, basically frequency and transient controlled EQ’s where just the actual dialed in frequency gets saturated depending on the transient information of the actual audio content. The EQ’s audio content (and nothing else) gets saturated but just depending on the transient information of the incoming audio.
  • Sophisticated M/S processing per band allows for stereo field processing and the overall stereo imaging can be controlled by increasing the side signal processing of the audio content which then occurs frequency dependent.
  • ‘Warmth’ processor, which is basically an ultra-fast tape style high frequency compressor. The HF level loss is compensated by “filling in” some K2 harmonic audio content. The result is a very subtle HF smoothing which is able to polish some uneven artifacts such as too much pronounced hihats or sibilant vocals.
  • Works as an unobtrusive de-esser easily as well.
  • Capable of finishing uneven mixes as well as polishing individual recordings/tracks in any mixing situation.

NastyXTC will be available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC in Q2/2009.

Bootsy TesslaPRO teaser

Bootsy has revealed more information on TesslaPRO, a signal saturation modeling audio processor VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.

The TesslaPRO audio processor is aimed to take the critically acclaimed TesslaSE signal saturator on to the next level.

Changes in TesslaPRO

  • The amount of untouched transient information can be dialed in variable. This way one is able to obtain full control on where signal saturation is going to happen and how such effects appear into a mix sonic wise.
  • Core algorithm re-written in assembler, further optimized and runs now 4 times oversampled.
  • DRIVE amount is now output level compensated and in addition there is more precise and detailed control on the reworked transformer style bass distortion.
  • Completely redesigned user interface.
  • Some bugfixes, e.g. the slow loading time issue which occured in some system configurations.

TesslaPRO will be available as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC, in Q2/2009.
