de la Mancha sets free Dirty Harry lo-fi synth plugin

de la Mancha has announced that its Dirty Harry lo-fi synthesizer plugin for Windows is now available as freeware.

de la Mancha Dirty Harry
dirty harry is an unashamedly DIY lofi synth based on the samples of my two homemade, lofi noisemakers, the Atari Punk Console and the BugBrand WOM

dirty harry offers 20 unique waveforms in all their mono/monophonic glory. For extra grit the oscillators can be sync’d or ring modulated. Fidelity can be lowered further still with reduction in sample quality, distortion and a unique ‘bad contact’ emulation. 2 tempo sync LFOs allow modulation of filter, pitch and contact, with one LFO modulating the depth and frequency of the other.

There are envelopes for volume, pitch and filter, with different contours and pitch options. Throw in an arpeggiator, pitch drift and portamento and you can see that whilst it may be lofi in sound, it doesn’t lack for sound design features.

Dirty Harry is available to download as a VST plugin for Windows.

DNR Collaborative releases Mono Destroyers, free sample pack

DNR Collaborative Mono Destroyers

DNR Collaborative has announced the release of Mono Destroyers, a free sample pack.

DNR Collaborative has released a FREE samplepack of .wav format samples, created from a Bugbrand DIY boutique synthesizer with a few custom modifications. The synthesizer has been outfitted with posts with with you can patch capacitors of varying values and potentiometers in order to have a much more flexible circuit-bending experience.

This samplepack has been created by recording a very large portion of audio from the synth and splitting up the usable content into “long” and “short” sample categories. The longer portions of audio are great for creating atmospheres and textures, while the short samples are good for creating usable synthesizer sounds. The samples have not been processed in any way whatsoever.

Paul Birken releases Murky Modular Pack

Paul Birken's BugBrand Modular

Paul Birken has released the Murky Modular Pack, a collection of free samples of Paul’s BugBrand Modular.

Paul Birken likes to play in he basement. Really though, I think we all do. Some of our basements are on the 3rd floor and some are in the garage. What we all have in common is a place for the music to be created and/or played. What we don’t all have in common is a penchant for Analog buggery. That’s where Paul comes in.

He’s recently got himself a new toy. Behold! The Bugbrand Modular! Paul has zipped up a handful of about 80 little loops, hits and whistles of the bleepy, R2 variety in his initial explorations into this new synth of his to share with everyone. Cut em up, cut em loose, show em to your mom. It doesn’t matter what you do with them, but if it sounds fun send it in for everyone to hear!

The 28 Mb sample pack is available from the Fun in the Murky website.
