Cakewalk has released version 8.5.3 of Sonar Producer, Studio, and V-Studio 700.

The SONAR 8.5.3 update is focused on AudioSnap 2.0 providing usability enhancements, optimizations, and overall improved stability when performing complex audio timing tasks.

Changes in Sonar v8.5.3

• Improved stability
• Improved rendering quality and functionality
• Improved tempo detection algorithm and new option to set clip tempo to original project tempo
• Improved Clip Tempo Maps functionality
• New resolution settings to set tempo changes on every beat, measure or clip
• Auto stretch mode added to Clip Follows Project command, emulates AudioSnap auto-stretch behavior
• New Extract Groove and Apply Groove buttons to match the groove of one clip to another
• Snap Settings can now be used to snap both audio and MIDI events to audio transients in selected tracks

Cakewalk has announced the Mobile Studio Canvas, a new portable music production package for Mac and PC.

The Mobile Studio Canvas for Mac, PC, and standalone performance is the first such product in the Cakewalk hardware family. Capable of producing over 1,000 sounds, the Mobile Studio Canvas includes the Roland SD-50 Sound Module, redesigned GM (General MIDI) 2, and Roland’s Solo Tones sounds. The unit’s USB memory drive can playback MP3, WAV, AIFF, and MIDI files without a computer. It is also a 2-in/2-out audio interface as well as a 1×1 MIDI interface, and ships with SONAR 8.5 LE recording software for use with a computer (for Windows only).

Cakewalk has announced the launch of the FA-66, a FireWire Audio Interface for Mac and PC.

The FA-66 is a compact, portable 6-in/6-out FireWire 400/800 audio interface designed for mobile recording and performance professionals. The unit has two XLR/TRS combo inputs with phantom powered mic preamps, with one offering Hi-Z for recording electric guitar or bass, plus two RCA inputs – all with zero latency direct monitoring. The FA-66 delivers 4×4 simultaneous performance at up to 24-bit/192kHz sound quality, or 6×6 simultaneous performance at up to 24-bit/96 kHz.

The FA-66 also features MIDI in/out ports, optical S/PDIF I/O, a built-in analog limiter and indicator, and FireWire bus power.
