Soniccouture has announced the release of Clav, a sound library for Native Instruments featuring the sounds of the Hohner D6 clavinet.
Featuring 31 velocity layers (14,880 samples – 9GB), Soniccoutures’ new intelligent round-robin system, release samples and a fully modelled pickup / preamp section, Soniccouture Clav brings the Hohner D6 Clavinet to your DAW like never before.
Few instruments get fans of funk grooves drooling like the Hohner D6 clavinet. Originally intended for classical harpsichord-esque duties, but really sonically closer to an electric guitar than a piano, its twangy, spanking timbres add a melodic tension to a groove like nothing else. To achieve the iconic funk sound it is paired with a wah-wah pedal – one of the earliest examples of this was on Up On Cripple Creek by The Band in 1969.
The D6 contained 60 strings that are amplified by two active pickups, one above the strings close to the bridge (Upper Pickup), and one below the strings (Lower Pickup). The instrument is played from a keyboard, which launches little hammers that strike and hold the strings in place. When the hammer is released, the dampers at the end of the string stop the sound. The D6 also has a Mute slider, which brings a felt damper over the resonant part of the strings to create a different timbre and shorter decay time.
Acousticsamples has announced the release of the Clavi D9, a sound library based on the well-known clavinet D6 by Hohner.
It is probably one of the most “funky” instruments ever invented, despite the fact that it was originally intended for classical music as its sound is close to the hapsichord. It turns out that it was very well suited to replace or double a rhythmic guitar and was used in many Funk and Disco hits.
The clavinet has 5 octaves (60 keys) and works in a simple way, when you press a note, the string is pressed against a bridge just like a hammer-on on a guitar, the non muted part of the string vibrates and the pickups amplify the sound.
The D6 has very few controls, 4 eq switches and 2 pickup switches to choose which pickup has to be used plus a global volume. We recorded both pickups and we modeled precisely the eqs, as a result you can use the whites switches exactly like on the real instrument. We sampled every possible aspect of the instrument, normal notes, staccatos, releases, mutes, every pickup, sympathetic resonances and more to give you the most authentic Clavinet sound possible.
Clavi D9 features
2,76Gb, around 4500 samples.
Precise simulation of the original filters.
Separation of both pickups and independant volume.
High quality Amp simulations with the most used models.

Boscomac has announced Mk2 versions of its Claviness and Wurlitsar instrument ensembles for Native Instruments Reaktor.
I announce that CLAVINESS and WURLITSAR are died … to be reborn better in their MK2 Version, Yeah ! Nothing is more difficult than doing a mk2 version that requires as much work as the creation of the instrument! But in the end, we get a better result, Yeah !
WURLITSAR is a Wurlitzer who has a warm et round sound! Now you can mix the direct signal with the amplified signal and get an interesting balance. You can also adjust the rate of distortion of the amplifier to get some “crunch” to the wurli. Vibrato has been replaced by the ability to adjust the tremolo on the panoramic. The instrument offers two types of sound, normal or round, and it has a nice little spring reverb …
CLAVINESS is a clavinet with sensitive strings! More than MK2 version, it is a revisit to really approach the original instrument. The clavinet is an instrument that has a lot of feeling. Here, different tones are available with some very effective effects such as chorus, phaser and auto-filter and the ability to mute the strings. Ideal for the rhythmic players, it is almost impossible not to have the groove with such an instrument …
Both ensembles are available to download at no cost. Donations are appreciated.
