Waves, DiGiCo & Soundtracs partner to bring DiGiGrid

DiGiGrid

Waves, DiGiCo, and Soundtracs have introduced DiGiGrid, a product range destined to provide the audio market with a new solution that delivers an open approach to audio, plugins, control and audio resource networking.

From the studio to the stage and back again, today’s digital productions are getting more and more complex, with higher track counts, CPU-hungrier plugins and increasingly demanding real-time requirements – not to mention portability, expandability and connectivity issues. Now, Waves, DiGiCo and Soundtracs have joined forces to create hardware and software processing solutions to address these needs with DiGiGrid, which enables users of Native DAWs, Pro Tools and MADI-enabled live and broadcast mixing consoles access to Waves SoundGrid audio networking and real-time processing. DiGiGrid offers a full line of SoundGrid I/Os, Pro Tools-to-SoundGrid I/Os and MADI-to-SoundGrid I/Os.

In the studio, DiGiGrid systems provide the power and performance needed to meet the most taxing mixing challenges. DiGiGrid systems are expandable and ideal for users of all levels, from budget-minded audio enthusiasts to full-fledged multi-studio facilities. And because they use Intel-based SoundGrid DSP Servers to perform audio processing, DiGiGrid systems ensure maximum versatility and compatibility today, tomorrow, and into the future.

Live on stage, DiGiGrid MADI-to-SoundGrid interfaces enable users of any MADI-enabled console to take advantage of low-latency networking and processing, perfect for both FOH and monitor applications. Vocal processing expert TC-Helicon and audio specialist Sennheiser have unveiled their partnership in the field of vocal effects microphones.

TC-Helicon / Sennheiser

Combining their extensive expertise in creating tools for vocalists and microphone technology, the two companies have been working on joint research projects since 2011, and will launch a joint product at NAMM in January 2013.

“The initial spark for our co-operation was at NAMM 2011, when TC-Helicon premiered a microphone with controls for vocal effects and Sennheiser demonstrated ‘Concept Tahoe’, a beatboxing microphone developed in their research lab in the USA,” says Kevin Alexander, CEO of TC-Helicon. “We had never met, we had never talked – and happened to be showing the same product!”

“We sat down together right at the show in a very open and friendly atmosphere and talked about what we were working on in our respective companies. We immediately saw each other as partners,” says Michael Polten, Director Customer Relationship Management at Sennheiser. “TC-Helicon’s mission is to give singers full control and Sennheiser’s aim is to provide excellent microphones – so our brands were a perfect fit.”

TC-Helicon and Sennheiser started a joint research project, exploring how to interface their products to provide one-stop solutions for singers and musicians – products that will make a real difference for their users. The first results of the commitment will be seen at NAMM 2013, where the companies will launch a joint product.

Kevin Alexander: “We are very excited about this upcoming product bundle. Taking the most innovative microphone brand and the most popular vocal processing brand can only be a good thing for singers.”

Audiobus app-to-app audio for iPad & iPhone by A Tasty Pixel and Audanika

Audiobus

A Tasty Pixel in partnership with Audanika has launched Audiobus, a revolutionary new app for iPad and iPhone set to reinvent iOS music making with its ability to connect music apps together, just as cables connect audio equipment.

Support for the app is already built into such leading iOS music apps as Rebirth, JamUp, NLog, Sunrizer and more, with over 750 more developers registered to implement Audiobus in their own music apps.

“Audiobus is going to fundamentally change the way people make music on the iPad and iPhone,” said Audiobus developer Michael Tyson. “The app works like virtual audio cables, turning a platform of isolated apps into a community of pluggable components that work together seamlessly, far greater than the sum of their parts. Nothing like this has even been attempted before.”

The app is the result of a twelve-month collaboration between A Tasty Pixel, developer of iOS audio apps Loopy and Loopy HD, and Audanika, developer of SoundPrism and SoundPrism Pro. Loopy, Loopy HD, and SoundPrism Pro have been placed on sale for the launch.

With a clean and simple user interface, the app allows users to easily connect the output of one Audiobus-compatible app into the input of another, playing a synthesizer live into a looper or multi-track recorder, or using one app to manipulate the live output of another.

“It’s what so many iOS music makers want: to be able to use multiple apps at the same time, mixing together the audio from each of them into a single project,” wrote leading musicians’ gear website Music Radar recently, dubbing the app “groundbreaking”.

Audiobus is launching today together with eleven other leading iOS music apps which have added support for the inter-app audio routing platform: Propellerheads’ Rebirth for iPad, JamUp and JamUp Pro, Sunrizer Synth, SoundPrism Pro, Loopy and Loopy HD, MultiTrack DAW, NLog Synth Pro and NLog MIDI Synth, sir Sampleton, and Funkbox.

Twenty-five additional noteworthy developers, including Moog and Intua, have been invited to the developer program and have already begun to add Audiobus support, prior to a public launch of the Audiobus Software Development Kit (SDK). Over 750 additional developers have signed up to add Audiobus support to their apps once the Audiobus SDK is made public.

Audiobus is now available on the App Store for $9.99 USD.

Ohm Force updates Ohm Studio to Rev 71285

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Dec 05, 2012
Ohm Studio (audio patterns handles)

Ohm Force has released a new revision of its Ohm Studio real-time collaborative digital audio workstation for Windows and Mac.

Start a project, invite musicians and make music together. It’s as simple as that. Download the application and join a worldwide online cohmunity of musicians and producers. Ohm Studio, together sounds better.

Changes in Ohm Studio Rev. 71285

  • New: Audio Patterns now have handles to adjust their Fade-in, Volume and Fade-out values. Select one (or more) Audio Patterns, go to Edit mode, then click and drag a handle to edit its value, or double-click it to set it back to its default value.
  • Improvement: the new overhauled server architechture provides faster project loading/unloading and project “isolation” (if a project crashes or takes a long time to load, other projects should no longer be blocked or slowed down).
  • Improvement: the Volume parameter of Audio Patterns is now expressed in dB (rather than in %) and can now be used to boost the level of a Sample above its original value.
  • Improvement: Aux Racks can now be renamed and freely moved inside the Mixer view.
  • Improvement: mouse cursors have been updated to adopt either a Windows or a Mac “look and feel”. Choose between the white (Windows) or black (Mac) cursor theme in your Display preferences.
  • Fix: fixed several bugs with the mouse cursor image not refreshing properly (e.g. the Eraser tool could sometimes be displayed instead of the Arrow tool)
  • Fix: fixed a bug that caused the status indicator of the Chat panel not to work (i.e. it was always green).

The new Ohm Studio application is available to download now.
