Rob Papen BLUE II patch contest

Time+Space has announced a Blue II patch contest, a chance to share your dream patch for Blue II synthesizer and win Rob Papen’s upcoming synthesizer plug-in.

As the release of Rob Papen’s Blue II crossfusion virtual synth is almost upon us, we’re giving you the chance to have your dream patch created by the man himself!

Simply describe your ideal patch using as much detail as possible. Once the closing date of 3rd March has passed, three winners will be randomly selected and Rob Papen will design the three patches within Blue II. The patches will then be made publicly available for all Blue II users!

Rob Papen will select a Grand Prize winner who, in addition to the designer patch, will also receive a copy of eXplorer III plus the other two winners will receive a copy of Blue II.

The contest ends March 4th, 2014.

Novation launches Heritage Competition (+ free sample pack)

Novation has launched its Heritage Competition, a chance to win Novation’s Bass Station II, UltraNova and MiniNova.

We’re celebrating our heritage with a short film that explores Novation past, present, and future, along with a completely free sample pack comprising over 800MB of loops, single hits, multi sampled patches, and drum kits from its unforgettable and modern classic synths.

In addition, three people will win their choice of Bass Station II, UltraNova, or MiniNova – our award winning current lineup of synthesisers – in a make-a-track competition with an all-star judging panel including Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, Sneaker Pimps), Eats Everything, and Timo Maas in a competition running from the 4th of February to the 4th of March 2014.

Novation co-founder Ian Jannoway, legendary synth designer Chris Huggett, Gus Unger-Hamilton of Alt-J, Sneaker Pimps and Lana Del Rey producer Liam Howe, and product manager Matt Derbyshire all feature in a very special short film that charts the rise of Novation from humble beginnings to a company whose musical innovations support a user base that includes – amongst many others – Orbital, M4SONIC, Rudimental, T.E.E.D, Lunice, Alt-J, Teddy Riley, and Jimmy Mac – keyboardist for international sensation Lorde.

Supernova II, K Station, Bass Station, Drum Station, Bass Station II and Ultranova are all represented in the heritage sample pack, and we are launching a month long competition with an all-star judging panel including Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Liam Howe (Lana Del Rey, Sneaker Pimps), Eats Everything, and Timo Maas to create a track using the pack – with three winners each winning their choice of either Ultranova, Mininova, or Bass Station II.

The competition ends March 4th, 2014.

Newpool Music launches Hiding Jekyll Lable Tennis Remix Contest

Hiding Jekyll Lable Tennis Remix Contest

Newpool Music has announced its Lable Tennis Remix Contest, a chance to remix a track by Hiding Jekyll and win prizes from Ohmforce, Sonic Charge, Fabfilter and XILS-Lab.

Hiding Jekyll’s open minded journey through different electronic styles along with his continuous testing of various live setups finally matured to become a real trademark sound. His aspiration to organize the material in a way that makes it possible to constantly manipulate his tracks, thus comprising both a unique studio and live performance which sometimes can’t be repeated another time, is his strife for authenticity. This is the core of Hiding Jekyll, a name which is synonymous with his activities as a producer and live unit.

With his single Lable Tennis, out in spring 2014, we want to give you the opportunity to create a remix of this minimalistic beauty. You’ll be able to win some valuable prizes from Sonic Charge, Ohm Force, Fabfilter and XILS-Lab. Just be sure to read the instructions and follow our terms and conditions. We wish you good luck and a lot of fun.

The submission phase begins January 27th, 2014 and ends February 27th, 2014 at 23:59 UTC. The decision phase begins February 28th and ends March 3rd. The winners will be announced soon after.

A picture is worth a thousand words – Contest winners

a picture is worth a thousand words

The theme of the most recent music production contest at rekkerd was to create a piece of music inspired by an image.

For this contest, the idea is to take a photograph as your “muse” for a piece of music. Kind of similar to how you would write a soundtrack for a film. Use an image of a person, object, environment, or whatever might inspire you.

A total of 36 tracks were submitted. With a great variety in style and approach, I can imagine the contestants had a hard time picking their top 6 favorites!

It was a very close finish between the top 3, each just trailing 1 point behind the other. The same for spot 4 to 6, with just a few points difference.

So, without keeping you waiting any longer, here are the winners.

  1. Russian Corvette with sundayafternoonweightlessness (61 points)

  1. 3ee with Winter Breeze (60 points)

  1. Koen Veldeman with Nightfall (59 points)

The top 3 winners will receive a prize from D16 Group, as well as a pick of the prize pool in order of placement. The remaining prizes from the pool will go to the following entries.

  1. König with Mecha Funk (39 points)
  2. Stan Dart with Underworld, Part 2 (The Lost Island) (38 points)
  3. Jon Solo with The 11th Plague, and Alex Sorenti with 1570 Miles (36 points)

Congratulations to the winners, and many thanks to all who participated!
Hope to see you again next time.

Cheers,
Ronnie

LVC-Audio PreAMPed beta

LVC-Audio has released public beta version 1.0.1 of its PreAMPed audio plugin that recreates many of the qualities of analog preamplifiers.

The purpose of the release is to ensure that as many bugs are fixed before releasing the final version of 1.0.1.

The beta release contains many new features, as well as numerous bug fixes and enhancements.

Changes in PreAMPed v1.0.1 beta

  • Added bypass buttons for preamp, saturation, EQs, and stereo controls.
  • Added 2x, 4x, and 6x oversampling with linear-phase filtering and latency compensation for mix control.
  • Added A->B comparison ability to each knob (double-click will return the knob to the previous value, and right-clicking a knob will set a new previous value).
  • Made demo bypass less annoying (shorter duration of bypassed sound, and longer intervals between bypassed sound).
  • Improved waveform display.
  • Fixed VST3 format error.
  • Fixed Clip LED from remaining stuck on when knob was adjusted.
  • Fixed overlapping text (increased GUI size).
  • Improved preamp buttons.
  • Improved knob position indicators on small knobs.

PreAMPed for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is available to purchase for $47.70 USD. The demo version of the public beta is also available to download.

LVC-Audio is offering a chance to win a free license of PreAMPed to those who are willing to test the beta release.

If you find a bug or have a suggestion, please submit a quick message using the following beta contact form. If you don’t find a bug, just have a suggestion, or want to enter to win a free plugin, you can use the same beta contact form.

LVC-Audio will select several names from the list to receive free licenses of PreAMPed. Although any bug submission or suggestion is welcome, multiple entries will not increase the odds of winning a free license (i.e., one entry per person). Licenses will be awarded shortly after January 1.
