It consists of 3 oscillators each modulated by 3 low frequency oscillators see the signal path.

The oscillators are based around the hex invertor IC known as CD40106 aka 7HC04 , the wave froms produced from this logic device are trapazoid . This modulator to oscillator combination allows the user to create a wide range of sounds.

Like its predecessor, Peggy 2.0 provides a quick, easy, powerful and efficient way to drive a lot of LEDs– up to 625– in a big matrix covering almost a square foot of area.

A full Kit ($95, US) includes the circuit board, preprogrammed microcontroller, battery holder, power switch, two buttons, rubber feet and all other components needed to make the pegboard display base, along with full color printed instructions. Just add batteries and LEDs.

Some interesting things I found on May 6th, 2008:

# Jazz trash robot is an experimental sound-producing entity made from recycled electro-mechanical components. It is a collection of mechanical sequencers and timers, that can be connected together with various experimental instruments we have made or altered. Our instruments are build in an experimental manner, so they are quite unexpectable as themselves, but connecting them all through the robot gives them exponential possibilities for randomness and unexpectancy.

The main idea is, that connecting a vast number of experimental instruments together in an experimental manner the instruments will produce a very complex and interesting soundscape. We can pretune the instruments so we can affect the direction of the end-result, but we can not fully control it.

In this project the Jazz Trash robot is the artist and the koelse.org crew is working as technicians maintaining it. The robot can perform solo, we can leave some user interfaces open for the audience to jam with our robot, or we can perform together with the robot as one of our bandmembers.

Jan Kees van Woesik and Patrick Brouwer have made a system to control Flash with audio.

Jan Kees writes:

We have created an alternative approach for this (worldwide) known problem. We made a MaxMSP patch that does the FFT analysis and sends a OSC package to flash (with the help of a small java application). MAX/MSP sends the Amplitude and the pitch of a stereo signal (left and right). So, now we could use the input of the microphone to make a two-player game. If you only have one input they will both send the same data. In fact you will only get four parameters in flash, you can do whatever you want with it (be creative)!
