A little over 3 years ago de la Mancha started releasing free VST instrument and effect plug-ins for Windows. Quite prolifically too.
After releasing many freebies — lots of great random/probability-based FSU type stuff, early 2008 de la Mancha released Octav8r, its first commercial plug-in; a 7 band pitch shifter collaboration with Singing Crane.
Currently de la Mancha’s collection of plug-ins spans more than 50 freeware and commercial plug-ins including 4-operator FM synth FMMF (3rd place winner of KVR’s Developer Challenge 2009), and drum sample player ballistic, released as a charity fund raiser for Cancer Research UK (over £1,000 GBP donated already!)
bassbomb is dlM’s latest effort, a monophonic bass “monster”.
bassbomb is a monophonic, bass synthesizer focused on creating a wide range of bass sounds from punchy to chunky via squelchy and fat with a sprinkling of dirt on top. It does everything from dubstep wobble, electro house dirt, funky bounce, breakbeat dirt, hiphop boom, acid squelch and more besides. As well as bass lines it’s also happy banging out kick drums and bass drops, with a pure sine sub osc to really nail that low end.

bassbomb features 2 (syncable) oscillators with 7 custom waveforms. They have detune and pulse width controls, and adjustable Unison with spread for each. There’s a sub oscillator (sine) to fatten things up.

de la Mancha has released bassbomb, a virtual bass synthesizer instrument for Windows.
bassbomb is a monophonic, bass synthesizer focused on creating a wide range of bass sounds from punchy to chunky via squelchy and fat with a sprinkling of dirt on top. It does everything from dubstep wobble, electro house dirt, funky bounce, breakbeat dirt, hiphop boom, acid squelch and more besides. As well as bass lines it’s also happy banging out kick drums and bass drops, with a pure sine sub osc to really nail that low end.
It features custom waveforms, a composite filter and non-linear envelopes to give that old school synth sound, with 2 LFOs and 3 envelopes to really make stuff move around. Unison, oscillator sync, ring modulation and dirt all add to the flavour and a tempo-sync arpeggiator is the cherry on top.
bassbomb features
- Monophonic bass synthesizer for bass lines and drum sounds
- 2 oscillators with 7 custom waveforms each (sine, square, pulse, ramp, saw, triangle, noise)
- Adjustable Pulse width and detune, modulated by envelope and LFO (per osc)
- Adjustable Unison with spread control per oscillator
- Oscillator sync and ring modulation between oscillators
- Octave selector and level per osc
- Sub-osc with math-generated pure sine wave for sub bass layering
- Independent sub-osc detune modulation from envelope and LFO
- Octave selector and level control
- Resonant Low Pass filter, 24 dB / octave slope
- Composite design, non-linear behaviour across frequency range
- Adjustable Cut off and Resonance, both modulated by envelope and LFO
- Cut off can also track velocity and note, positive or negative modulation
- 3 non-linear ADSR envelopes, for amp, filter and multi-parameter modulation
- All envelopes have pickup mode as alternative to starting attack from zero
- Multi-parameter envelope covers cut off, res, pwm, detune and dirt
- Pulse width modulation and detune are selectable per oscillator
- Detune modulation allows pitch envelopes for kick drum and bass drops
- 2 tempo-sync LFOs with 20 waveforms, note-sync and adjustable phase
- LFOs can be tempo-sync to host (32 beats to 1/32 beats) or free (0-100 Hz)
- LFOs both modulate cut off, res, pwm, detune and dirt
- Pulse width modulation and detune are selectable per oscillator
- LFO 2 also modulates the depth and frequency of LFO 1
- Tempo-sync arpeggiator with 6 patterns
- Arp can cover 1 to 4 octaves, synced to host (1/32 beats to 4 beats)
- Adjustable note length (0-100%)
- Dirt control adds harmonics and saturation for extra oomph
- 2 monophonic modes, classic and drop (only plays last note)
- Portamento with adjustable time control
- Master volume and pitch control
- 200 presets covering many styles and functions
bassbomb is available to purchase as a VST instrument for PC, priced at $24 USD. Until 28 February 2010, all purchases of bassbomb will include a copy of PULS for free (usually $9 USD).

de la Mancha has released fr33some, a 3-band, stereo splitter effect plug-in for Windows.
You can use it to define 3 frequency ranges for low, mid and high frequencies, and output each band to a different stereo output, for individual processing.
fr33some is a free version of the splitter used in thr33some which is a stereo widening/narrowing processor
fr33some features
- 3 band splitter
- Split stereo input into 3 stereo outputs for low, mid and high frequencies
- 3 frequency ranges are user definable using non-linear knobs
- Zero phasing band splits using inversion rather than crossover
- free version of the splitter used in thr33some
fr33some is available as a freeware VST effect plug-in for Windows PC.

de la Mancha has released QB-3, a vintage-style, 3-band EQ plug-in, with its own unique colouring and a few tricks up its sleeve.
For each band you can adjust the centre frequency and gain. For the low and high shelving bands you can adjust the steepness of the slope, whilst for the mid peaking band you can adjust the bandwidth. This allows a range of sounds from steep, sharp cuts to smooth and gentle boosts.
But the Queen Bee is not a super clean and transparent plug-in. QB-3 features a pleasing combination of harmonics, saturation and low level noise to bring a subtle mojo to your sound. You also have the option to switch on a 40Hz cut to boost your low frequency headroom and a limiter to curb any peaks.
QB-3 features
- Vintage-style, 3-band EQ.
- Subtle colouring from a home-made blend of harmonics, saturation and low level noise.
- Full Stereo processing.
- Centre frequency adjustable for each band.
- Gain adjusts positively and negatively for each band.
- Low and High bands have adjustable slope, including negative ‘resonant’ like curve.
- Mid band has adjustable bandwidth for narrow to wide curves.
- Master gain control.
- Optional 40Hz cut for low frequency optimisation.
- Optional limiting on final output.
- Non-linear knobs for precise control at small values, with double-click reset to default value.
- 33 Presets covering many different configurations.
QB-3 is available to purchase as a VST effect plug-in for Windows PC, priced at $24 USD.
