Distorque releases Azurite chorus plugin

Distorque’s entry to the KVR Developer Challenge 2012 is Azurite, a free chorus effect plug-in for Windows.

My goal in designing it was to make as flexible a chorus as possible without losing great tones and ease of use. The result is an effect that will be handy for producers, guitarists, and glitch lovers alike.

Unlike most choruses, Azurite allows for multiple simultaneous voices. Each of these voices has its own delay line that is modulated by a separate LFO. Adding multiple voices leads to a thicker, smoother, and less wobbly tone. It also makes vivid stereo spreading possible with a mono signal. The Voices control chooses how many voices the chorus uses: one, two, four, or eight.

Distorque Azurite
Azurite is a multi-voice chorus with a focus on rich sounds and versatile controls.

Azurite features

  • Stereo or mono operation.
  • Fidelity control emulates vintage analog choruses.
  • 2-band EQ.
  • LFO tempo sync.
  • Feedback control allows for flanger sounds.
  • 27 built-in presets.
  • Delay time from 0.2ms to 200ms.
  • 7 LFO shapes: Sine, Triangle, Sawtooth, Ramp, Exponential, Inverse Exponential, and Random.
  • Spread control for stereo widening of a mono signal.
  • Control randomizer.
  • Other controls: Depth, Speed, Wet Mix, Output, Separation, Dry Delay.

Azurite for Windows (VST) is a free download.

Distorque releases Vitamin C free compressor effect plugin

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Aug 20, 2012 - comment 0 comments

Distorque has announced the release of Vitamin C, a free VST emulation of an Orange Squeezer Compressor.

This is an emulation of an Orange Squeezer guitar compressor, with added controls for tweaking. It runs in mono or stereo, and has selectable 2x oversampling. Note that this is not a studio compressor, the Vitamin C has the quirks and imperfections of the original Orange Squeezer that gave it its unique character.

The Orange Squeezer is a guitar compressor that was released in the 1970s as part of the Dan Armstrong effect line. It has been used prominently by artists like Mark Knopfler and Jeff Baxter for its smooth squish and sustain.
