Machinewerks launches Kickstarter project for CS X51 control surface

Related: , , , , , , , Posted in news on Sep 09, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Machinewerks has launched a Kickstarter project for the CS X51, a USB/MIDI control surface for electronic musicians & DJs.

The Machinewerks CS X51 was born out of the sheer frustration of not being able to find the Control Surface we wanted.

Everything was either too big, too heavy or didn’t have the controls we needed, often they would have a lot of things that nobody wanted. It seemed to us that the market place is flooded with control surfaces that set out to be everything to everyone and have ended up being no use to anyone!

The design of many existing Controllers also leaves us cold. Cheap lumps of plastic designed to keep the costs down, with no look or feel to them at all.

Time For A Change

We decided from the start to design something beautiful, something pure, something people would want to use and own.

With 30 years experience of playing live and in the studio we know what’s needed for a working artist/DJ; This is why we’ve designed the Machinewerks CS X51.

Maschinewerks CS X51
The CS X51 USB/MIDI control surface is 100% programmable & compatible.

CS X51 features

  • 28 x Potentiometer Rotaries: All fully assignable.
  • 7 x 45mm Potentiometer Sliders: All fully assignable.
  • 16 assignable buttons in a 4×4 matrix, each with a cool blue assignable LED (LEDs can respond to clip status messages).
  • USB and 5 pin DIN MIDI In & Out for full bi-directional MIDI support.
  • 9v DC power connector for computerless setups.
  • Plug & Play: USB Powered*, no drivers required.
  • 100% programmable midi mapping to any hardware or computer.
  • MacOS, Windows & Linux Compatible.
  • Works out of the box with Ableton, Traktor, Reason, Cubase, Logic and any other programmable DAW.
  • Aluminium Body.
  • Anodised Body with Powder Coated Base.
  • Portable: 390mm x 184mm x 57mm Weighs 1.4kg.
  • RoHS compliant.
  • Designed & Built In Sheffield, UK.

The Kickstarter project aims to have £27,000 GBP pledged by Saturday Oct 5th, 2013.

Philips and Armin van Buuren intoduce M1X-DJ System

Philips M1X-DJ System

Philips and Armin van Buuren have launched the M1X-DJ System, a combined DJ controller and sound system.

Combining a sleek design aesthetic and easy-to-use interface with innovative technology, the M1X-DJ allows anyone who wants to mix, play and share their music in one portable device. It combines a DJ controller and sound system that comes integrated with an Apple Lightning connector and Bluetooth® connectivity and works seamlessly with the djay 2 app from Algoriddim.

“Fans often ask me what equipment they should buy when they want to start mixing themselves,” said Armin. “A lot of kit can be expensive, so with the M1X I wanted to create something that’s accessible for everybody. The other great thing about the M1X is that you can play it wherever you want, whether that’s the beach, the park or your street: it’s the ghettoblaster reinvented for today.”

“Music drives us, especially in its ability to let people express themselves through their own unique sound,” said Ruggero Nardone, senior manager consumer marketing, audio at Philips Lifestyle Entertainment. “The M1X-DJ makes mixing, playing and sharing tracks simple. Everyone loves a great party and this product will deliver a great music experience, whatever the setting.”

“We are thrilled about the release of the M1X-DJ,” said Karim Morsy, CEO of Algoriddim. “djay users of any skill level will be excited to control their music in a whole new way with this unique new DJ system.”

The Philips M1X-DJ System includes speakers that output an impressive 80-Watts of sound. Optimized for iPad® and compatible with the iPhone 5®, the system includes an Apple ‘Lightning’ connector and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. Using the djay 2 app, you can switch between tracks on your playlist or mix tracks together for a sound that is truly your own. The integrated DJ controller allows you to mix and scratch your music using two professional grade platters, cross faders and controls – just like a professional DJ would use.

The system is simple to use and provides an authentic DJ experience for beginners to professionals, depending on how you choose to use the features. With multiple inputs and outputs, aspiring artists can link up multiple M1X-DJs or bigger stereo systems for a more club-like sound. Bluetooth connectivity allows you to share your favorite music from Bluetooth-enabled devices. When the party moves outside or to a remote location that may not have accessible power, the M1X-DJ will play for five hours with D cell batteries.

Native Instruments releases video on creative beat producers and performers in Japan

Related: , , , , , , , , Posted in news on Aug 23, 2013 - comment 0 comments

Native Instruments today released the first of a series of videos showcasing respected Japanese producers, performers, and DJs.

Five artists give detailed insights into their individual creative processes with MASCHINE – Native Instruments’ groove production system seamlessly integrating tactile hardware and advanced software.

After a widely successful launch of Native Instruments’ Japanese office in Tokyo earlier this year, the company is beginning a series of activities with skilled local artists to further expand its footprint in the Japanese music production and DJ equipment markets.

Five-time DMC world champion DJ team KIREEK uses MASCHINE to intuitively create beats on the fly, dragging them directly into TRAKTOR PRO for an instant transition from their studio setup to playing live. International touring artist KAITO from the Cologne-based Kompakt Records lineup constantly discovers new ways of working on dance music in a way which is only possible with MASCHINE. Tokyo’s star performance duo HIFANA loves the comprehensive collection of sounds and use MASCHINE in their live setup on stage. Samplesmith DJ Baku uses MASCHINE as his main production tool to sample records from various genres and to find new musical inspiration. Fukuoka’s beat specialist OLIVE OIL has discovered MASCHINE as his go to tool – not only for sampling old records but even for mixing and arranging entire tracks without any additional software.
