Xenos Soundworks has announced the release of Xenos Dubstep and Drum & Bass Vol. 3, a collection of patches for Predator by Rob Papen.

The third soundbank in the series picks up where the previous two sets left off.

Volume 3 contains 33 presets and places more emphasis on blazing leads, sublime pads, exotic polysynths/keys and a touch of sound effects, while still containing a token amount of new bass presets.

Loopmasters has released Mad Professor Reel to Reel Reggae, a new sample library by legendary producer Mad Professor.

A disciple of Lee “Scratch” Perry, Mad Professor was one of the leading producers in dub reggae’s second generation. His Dub Me Crazy albums helped Dub make the transition into the digital age, when electronic productions started to take over mainstream reggae in the ’80s. His space-age tracks not only made use of new digital technology, but often expanded dub’s sonic blueprint, adding more elements and layers of sound than his forebearers typically did.

As his reputation grew, he became a remixer of choice for adventurous rock and techno acts, most notably revamping Massive Attack’s entire second album under the new title No Protection.

Mad Professor has worked super close with the Loopmasters team to create an exclusive and authentic collection of some of his most prized musical gems from the Ariwa studios reggae vaults – providing producers of Dub, Reggae, Dubstep, DnB and other musical styles with previously unheard and undiscovered audio material!

Ableton has released some free downloads.

The Schwarzonator is a Max for Live patch from Henrik Schwarz, Berlin’s own jazz/soul/electronica legend.

“The Schwarzonator is a note twister. It’s all about helping musicians (or non-musicians) find the right notes and chords in real time. It turns one finger playing into chords that fit together well. Choose from a list of Chord Sets in a drop down menu. Then all notes you play on your keyboard will fit into the selected Chord Set.”

The Schwarzonator also comes with a companion device, called ‘Little Brother,’ which applies chord changes from the Schwarzonator onto other tracks.

The Schwarzonator is free but you’ll need Max for Live for it to work.

Ableton has also released two free Live Packs by KJ Sawka, drummer extraordinaire.

The first Live Pack is called ‘Mad Beatz.’ Here’s a personal description from the artist:

“I’m KJ Sawka and I’m excited to introduce the ‘Mad Beatz’ drum n’ bass, dub step and breakbeat collection exclusively for Ableton Live, as a special holiday gift. I’m proud to be part of the world changing Ableton team!
