PreSonus intros StudioLive 64AI & 48AI Mix Systems

PreSonus has announced two new StudioLive AI Mix Systems that deliver large-format channel counts, recording, powerful DSP, and more for under $7,000.

PreSonus StudioLive AI Mix Systems

Available in 48- and 64-channel frame sizes, StudioLive AI Mix Systems consists of two cascaded StudioLive AI consoles, a joining bracket that locks the two mixers together, a PreSonus PRM1 Precision Reference Microphone, and a custom dust cover.

StudioLive AI Mix Systems perform as a cohesive mixer and offer a familiar, surface-driven workflow with one-to-one control over every parameter. Every channel is routed through the bus outputs of the Master mixer and every global setting is controlled from the Master to provide seamless integration between the two cascaded consoles. All the power and performance available to a single StudioLive AI mixer are available to cascaded StudioLive AI Mix Systems.

Each StudioLive AI Mix System provides a robust audio interface, making it easy to record and playback audio as well as to use your favorite plugins as inserts on any of channel. Connect each mixer to a wireless router with a standard Ethernet cable and you’re ready to remote control your StudioLive AI Mix System from an iPad or iPhone or go wireless using the included USB WiFi LAN adapters.

The StudioLive 64AI Mix System cascades two StudioLive 32.4.2AI mixers to create a 64-channel system with 80 x 66, continuously bidirectional FireWire 800 recording interface; 26 mix buses, including 8 effects buses (for 4 reverb and 4 delay processors), and a whopping 558 discrete EQ and dynamics processors. This feature-rich, 64-channel mixing system is a fraction of the size, weight, and price of a conventional large-format digital console yet offers features no console anywhere near its price class can match.

The StudioLive 48AI Mix System consists of two cascaded StudioLive 24.4.2AI mixers, giving you a 48-channel console with an onboard 64 x 50 FireWire 800 recording interface; 22 total mix buses, including 8 effects buses; and DSP processing on every channel and bus for a total of 438 EQ and dynamics processors.

Like every StudioLive AI mixer, the StudioLive 64AI and 48AI Mix System include the StudioLive Software Library. The library includes PreSonus’ Capture™ live recording software, Studio One® Artist DAW, VSL-AI with Smaart Measurement Technology™ for Mac® and Windows®, SL Remote-AI for iPad®, and QMix™-AI for iPhone®/iPod® touch, plus a free account with PreSonus’ Nimbit® online direct-to-fan marketing and distribution service.

PreSonus StudioLive 64AI and 48AI Mix Systems are available for an expected street price of $6,999.95 USD and $5,499.95 USD, respectively.

Sonic Studio releases Amarra sQ in–line DSP utility

Related: , , , , Posted in news on Dec 12, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Sonic Studio has released version 2.0 of Amarra sQ, a new utility that joins Amarra, Amarra Hifi, Amarra Vinyl and Amarra Symphony High Resolution Audio (HRA) software for file–based playback.

Sound Studio Amarra sQ

Amarra sQ is an in–line DSP (Digital Signal Processing) utility that provides real time equalization for any and all audio sources on Mac OS. Making use of two proprietary Sonic Studio technologies, Sonic EQ and SonicStream, Amarra sQ gives the user access to powerful “equalization” tools to custom tailor the sound of any audio source, from a CD or music file, to streaming movies and songs. Fourteen factory Sonic EQ presets correct the response of popular headphone models from Apple, Audeze, Grado, Mr. Speaker and others, while additional presets fine tune playback for popular music genres, from acoustic and classical to jazz and rock. An infinite number of user presets can also be saved and recalled at any time.

Installed along with Amarra sQ, SonicStream is a highly optimized, ultra–fidelity 32 bit software driver that routes the Mac’s output to the input of Amarra sQ as its input “device.” Amarra sQ takes that input, runs it through four bands of Sonic EQ equalization, adjusts overall gain and redithers the signal. The final output is then routed directly to the output device, bypassing Mac OS’ Core Audio. Four redithering algorithms are available, including Sonic Studio’s proprietary noise–shaped form, along with adjustment of resonant frequency for noised shaping as well as turn–off delay.

Recent trends in consumer audio have hastened the rise in popularity of HRA or High Resolution Audio, including new high resolution streaming services. With its superior 32 bit driver, plus Sonic EQ and redithering technologies, Amarra sQ is ready for new listening experiences in the home or at work. Chris Connaker, founder of popular web site Computer Audiophile, is convinced of Amarra sQ’s merit. “I’m listening to TIDAL (HRA streaming) through Amarra sQ and I can’t live without it now,” Connaker said. “On my MacBook Pro, Amarra sQ makes all the difference in the world!”

Founder and company President Jonathan Reichbach developed the new software to enhance and personalize the audio experience for modern media consumers. “Everyone streams movies from YouTube and Netflix, or listens to music via iTunes, Pandora or Spotify,” he stated. “Sonic Studio provides affordable, pro quality tools to make everything you listen to better.”

Amarra sQ is available for purchase for $29.95 USD.

XTZ launches Kickstarter campgain for wireless Headphone Divine

Related: , , , , , , Posted in news on Oct 13, 2014 - comment 0 comments

XTZ has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the brand new wireless Headphone Divine, the world’s first high-end DSP wireless headphone with Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC pairing.

Let’s face it: headphones have been on the market for more than 50 years now. Year after year, new products come up – always offering more additional features and new designs. However, a closer look at the technological side of the product reveals that the changes often merely concern the design. When it comes to technology, not much has happened throughout the years. That’s due to the fact that there is a limit of what you can accomplish inside the size of a headphone. Until now…

With our new Headphone Divine, we take a huge step forward by combining the long experience of mechanical knowledge with the latest sound engineering technologies:

  • DSP sound optimization, including an algorithm for both frequency and impulse response.
  • Bluetooth 4.0 technology with aptX® Codec – no cables, no chaos (however, we also include a by-pass cable, so that you can connect the headphone to any 3,5mm jack).
  • NFC that pair your headphones without hassle
  • New: Works on PC and Mac via Bluetooth!

The Kickstarter project has already reached its initial target of $25,000 USD. Various stretch goals may still be reached before the project is funded on November 3rd, 2014.

Kush Audio intros UBK Pusher plugin

Related: , , Posted in news on Jan 20, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Kush Audio has announced UBK Pusher, a “magnetic DSP colorbox”.

Kush Audio UBK Pusher

Pusher is a sound sculptor’s dream, an artist’s tool that bends the rules of physics to generate genuinely new musical distortions and transient colorations. It models the unique sound-bending properties of 4 magnetized metal cores and, through the use of controls the world has never seen or heard before, lets you creatively shape their harmonic complexity and transient character. The result is an unprecedented palette of colors from the classic to the cutting edge.

Pusher then feeds that texturized signal into what is easily the punchiest and wildest UBK compressor to date, and packs the whole control set into an unabashedly forward-thinking GUI that picks up where the UBK-1 left off.

Pusher also sports Kush’s new Custom Preset Managment system and a novel ‘Cheat Mode’ which labels & explains every one of this beasts controls. But the fun with this one is in the exploring… stay tuned!
