Dynaudio Professional intros new BM mkIII & BMS II series monitors

Dynaudio BM5 mkIII

Dynaudio Professional has introduced four new near-field monitors, mounting solutions and two new precision subwoofers at the Musikmesse / ProLight+Sound 2014 show in Frankfurt.

The new near-field monitors include BM Compact mkIII, BM5 mkIII, BM6 mkIII and BM12 mkIII and on the subwoofer side, BM9S II and BM14S II.

Pursuing Perfection

Still made in Denmark, Dynaudio Professional’s BM range has become a pro audio industry standard since its introduction 15 years ago. Since then, continuous improvements to this series have been made to further support discerning professionals’ needs for transparent, highly responsive and non-fatiguing listening monitors. This new series is the next step in that evolution.

The smaller BM Compact mkIII and BM5 mkIII models both feature expanded frequency response and SPL thanks to a combination of improvements including drivers design and Class D amplifiers. Each includes an auto standby mode as well as both XLR and RCA input connectors for maximum flexibility. BM6 mkIII and BM12 mkIII have been revoiced and now include Dynaudio Professional’s innovative wave guide that ensures utmost precision when distributing high frequencies. Both of the BMS II subwoofers have also been further optimized to compliment the new range of mkIII near-field monitors.

IsoAcoustics Stands Included

Dynaudio Professional searched for what it felt was the world’s best isolation stand and chose IsoAcoustics. Each of the new BM mkIII near-field monitors comes bundled with a dual-branded IsoAcoustics monitor stand that allows the monitors to ‘float’ in free space. This provides an authentic and uncolored sound that is achieved by eliminating energy transfer to surrounding surfaces. The advantages are significant and apart from a tighter bass response, overall imaging is enhanced and the monitors are able to always perform to their full potential. BM Compact mkIII and BM5 mkIII come with an ISO-L8R 155 stand. BM6 mkIII and BM12 mkIII come with ISO-L8R 200 stand.

A Complete Monitoring System

Renowned for sonic consistency across the product range, Dynaudio Professional near-fields and subwoofers are designed to work together. However the company also considers the broader workflow needs of professionals. These are supported by a range of accessories spanning new mounting solutions for larger studios and broadcasters to precision level controls for the desktop – the Volume Box for BM Compact mkIII, the TC Level Pilot for BM6 mk III and BM12 mkIII and of course the TC Electronic BMC-2 Monitor Controller.

Fred Speckeen, Global Brand Manager for Dynaudio Professional concludes: “We are tremendously proud of this next step in the evolution of the Dynaudio Professional product range, a brand that has been chosen by ear by the world’s most discerning studio professionals and broadcasters.“

The products will be available in May (North America) / April (Europe, rest of world), for a suggested US retail price of:

  • BM Compact mkIII: $629.99 USD.
  • BM5 mkIII: $729.99 USD.
  • BM6 mkIII: $899.99 USD.
  • BM12 mkIII: $1,229.99 USD.
  • BM9S II: $999.99 USD.
  • BM14S II: $1,849.99 USD.

Dynaudio BM15A

ILIO has announced that Dynaudio Professional will provide five pairs of its BM15A studio monitors for demonstration at this year’s Winter NAMM show. The speakers will be seen and heard at the ILIO booth, Hall A, #6724 throughout the show.

ILIO president Mark Hiskey comments, “The Dynaudio BM15As are outstanding speakers with tremendous clarity and punch. They’ll provide the ideal combination of power and fidelity that will put our virtual instruments and audio processing products in the best possible light at the show.”

First introduced in 1998, the BM15A is a high performance speaker whose full-range extended bass response makes it an ideal nearfield monitor, particularly for commercial studios, project studios and post-production facilities.

The BM15A is a relatively large 2-way active system comprised of a large 240mm (10″) woofer, a special version of the Dynaudio ESOTEC soft dome tweeter and an electronic phase-aligned crossover, which feeds the built-in dual, high performance discrete MOSFET amplifiers.

The ESOTEC HF driver provides quality and headroom due to a dynamic headroom of 1000W. The 240mm (10″) bass driver is well-known for its 100mm (4″) aluminum alloy voice coil, which outperforms many 300mm (12″) drivers in terms of power output and punch.

The electronics offer complex protection circuitry helping to prevent accidental damage to the drivers, while still providing maximum transient response.

The BM15A monitor is front-ported for powerful and extended low frequency response, and the elegant matte cabinet has radius edges on the front baffle to reduce boundary effects and improve the overall sound quality.

Dynaudio Professional intros Choosing by Ear – Practical Loudspeaker and Monitor Systems Evaluation

Related: , , , , , Posted in news on Nov 12, 2013 - comment 0 comments
Chosen by Ear

Dynaudio Professional has announced the release of Choosing by Ear – Practical Loudspeaker and Monitor Systems Evaluation, a paper by Paul Mac, which provides a practical guide to monitor selection by ear.

Choosing the right monitors can be a challenge in any scenario. To choose well from many candidate monitors for their multiple stereo and 5.1 monitor setups, recording studios and broadcast production facilities often conduct blindfold listening tests. They do this to make the best possible decision based entirely on pure audio considerations.

“Monitors must be the most overhyped and least understood part of the audio chain,” says Fred Speckeen, Global Business Manager, Dynaudio Professional. “Paul Mac brings together his own extensive experience and the seminal AES20 standard to this paper, providing a practical approach to selecting monitors via critical listening. Inspired by the fact that monitor selection by systematic blindfold tests is increasingly common at the highest levels of the pro audio industry, this paper covers the issues of listening environment, listening material and the listening process. Buying monitors is one of the most critical and expensive decisions each of us has to make in assembling a studio that’s a joy to work in. We hope that this paper contributes to making that process a success for everyone.”

The paper is available as a free download along with accompanying audio files for stereo and multichannel system configuration.

Dynaudio Professional intros M3VE main monitoring solution

Dynaudio Professional has announced the M3VE, a main monitoring solution which combines world-class driver and cabinet technology from Dynaudio Professional with cutting-edge amplification and signal processing from Lab.gruppen and Lake.

Dynaudio Professional M3VE

M3VE takes monitoring to a whole new level with a significant upgrade from its predecessor – the renowned M3A 3-way monitor. To top it off, the speakers are powered by a four-channel Lab.gruppen PLM10000Q amplifier, using the integrated, active crossover between LF and MF by Lake, while passively filtering the MF/HF cross-over point.

Sporting the newest and most pristine Dynaudio ESOTAR² driver technology, M3VE takes over where most other monitor systems give up. With unsurpassed attention to detail, underpinned by an impressive 22Hz – 21kHz frequency response and beyond 133dB SPL, M3VE leaves no room for desire in terms of resolution, range or sheer power. The only difference between M3XE and M3VE is that the latter is powered by a single Lab.gruppen PLM10000Q amplifier rather than two.

The cutting-edge combination of Lab.gruppen and Lake technology forms the ultimate backing for M3VE and ensures unlimited power and the tools for optimizing any room to become the perfect listening environment.

In short, M3VE surpasses any and all main monitor expectations!

M3VE features

  • Natural and Uncolored – Painstakingly Accurate Audio Reproduction.
  • Carefully Selected Materials – From Handmade Drivers to First-grade Wood, Cables and Connectors.
  • Extremely Powerful – 4,700 W Per Monitor.
  • ESOTAR² – Aluminum Voice Coil Technology.
  • Heavy Internal Damping – Minimum Cabinet Resonance.
  • Protection and Redundancy – Always Reliable.
  • Exclusive Lake Processing Algorithms – Raised Cosine Equalization, Linear-phase Crossovers and Limiter Max Loudspeaker Protection.

The M3VE is available for 27,300 USD / 20,300 EUR.
