e-instruments releases Session Keys Grand Piano instruments

e-instruments has announced the release of Session Keys Grand S and Grand Y, two Kontakt based concert grand piano instruments with a new and innovative approach to create the perfect piano sound for music productions.

e-instruments Session Keys Grand Y (Concert)

Session Keys Grand S delivers the rich harmonic structure, warm tone, and full resonances of the Steinway D4 Concert Grand Piano, used in numerous concerts and recordings by some of the world’s greatest artists.

Session Keys Grand Y captures the clear, transparent and dynamic sound of a Yamaha CFIIIS Concert Grand Piano. Rich overtones, sparkling high end, and a powerful bass range make this outstanding instrument the perfect complement to the Grand S.

Session Keys Grand S/Y features

  • Concert and Studio modes – Each acoustic flavour has been recorded in precise detail using two separate piano lid positions.
  • Pentamorph controller – Allows users to easily adjust the Grand Piano’s acoustics – from standard characteristic sounds to atmospheres that go far beyond the obvious – as well as create movement on the fly using just one knob.
  • Session animation – The Animator is designed to generate truly musical piano performances in the most flexible way.
  • Smart Chords – For instant piano chords at your fingertips, Session Keys Smart Chord Mode provides a completely new and inventive way to add depth of musical expression to your production.
  • Edit parameters of the Grand Piano in detail – Strengthen the individuality and expressiveness of the instrument, or to take it far beyond its standard sonic signature. EQ, Compression, Convolution Reverb and Delay Effects can all be edited for creative sound design without boundaries.

The pianos are available for purchase for 99 USD/EUR each, or bundled for 159 USD/EUR.

Native Instruments releases Session Horns for Kontakt

Native Instruments Session Horns

Native Instruments has introduced Session Horns, a new Kontakt instrument that features the sound of a four-piece horn section.

Notable for its pristine and authentic sound, SESSION HORNS is designed to allow producers of all levels access to high quality horns, and includes a number of features that make it a highly creative and usable tool for a large variety of musical styles.

SESSION HORNS is based on four meticulously sampled instruments: a tenor sax, a trombone and two trumpets, playable either as a standard instrument or using the included musical phrases. All instruments were sampled in a wide range of articulations, including specific samples to reproduce the authentic sound of typical legato horn lines. Furthermore, the unique Smart Voice Split automatically allocates each note of a chord to the corresponding brass instrument, just as an arranger would. This results in a realistic, professional sound that avoids the ‘cluster’ effect that plagues many software-based horn productions.

The detailed sample base was used to construct over 170 ultra-flexible playable phrases, which draw their inspiration from contemporary pop, funk, reggae, indie, and neo soul productions, and are suited for use in a variety of production contexts. The Animator in SESSION HORNS provides producers with an inventive tool for jamming ideas and coming up with musical phrases. Using one hand to play a chord and selecting phrases with the other will generate harmonic horn accompaniments in real time, without the need for advanced production or composition experience.

Developed by renowned sampling specialists e-instruments, SESSION HORNS is a KONTAKT Instrument that can be used either in KONTAKT 5 or the free KONTAKT 5 Player. It joins SESSION STRINGS and SESSION STRINGS PRO in offering professional sounding studio ensembles that put usability first.

Session Horns is available to purchase for $119 USD / 99 EUR.

Ableton releases exclusive instruments from Ableton partners

Ableton Partner Instruments

Ableton has announced the release of a new range of exquisite instruments, custom-made for Live by some of its favorite sound partners.

The range of sounds is highly diverse, including painstakingly sampled grand pianos, Balinese gamelan, EBow guitar, boutique vintage synthesizers, found objects, acoustic and electronic percussion, atmospheres, and soundscapes. All partner instruments work with Suite 8, Live 8 or Live Intro, and many of them are exclusive to Ableton Live.

The partner instruments are completely integrated into Ableton Live, which makes for a smooth workflow and familiar controls. Most of the instruments use Live’s Rack format, with the eight Macro Controls carefully mapped to provide powerful, top-level control for immediate tweakability. Within the Racks, carefully selected Ableton effects provide additional sound design options. This tight integration also means that the partner instruments all provide instant mapping to controller hardware.

Some of the sound design teams behind these instruments are long-standing Ableton partners – Puremagnetik, e-instruments and SonArte have all provided sounds for Live’s Library. The “new” partners – Sample Logic, Toontrack, Soniccouture and Flatpack – may already be familiar names to many of you.

The new partner instruments are available now at the Ableton web shop.
