echo|collective releases Signal Return for Kontakt

echo|collective has announced Signal Return, a performable Kontakt instrument and soundset designed to create a wide variety of interesting and textured sounds.

echo|collective Signal Return

All of the source material comes from recordings of various devices feeding back into themselves either electrically or acoustically. No software based speaker emulators or distortions were used in the creation of these sounds.

We covered all of the classic forms of feedback including an SM58 through a PA, an electric guitar through a tube amped miked with an SM57 and a Royer 121, a set of Sony headphones feeding into themselves, and a pair of Uniden walkie talkies with both mics open too close to one another.

We also did a series of line level loops with devices like a sansamp bass driver DI, a Danelectro Honeytone amp, and a Roland Cube amp. The line level loops were also run through guitar pedals and pitch/delay plugins to further bend and distort the looped signals.

Signal Return features

  • 24 bit 96k metadata tagged wav files.
  • Soundminer embedded spectrograms created with iZotope RX3.
  • 250+ unique recordings.
  • 4.8 total Gb of sounds.
  • 22 Kontakt fully programmed unlocked .nki files.
  • .nki files require full version of NI Kontakt 5.0 or higher.

The library is available for purchase for $20 USD.

echo | collective releases Swell virtual cymbal instruments for Kontakt

echo | collective Swell

echo | collective has announced Swell, a virtual instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt featuring natural and designed cymbals.

Swell is a performable Kontakt instrument and sound effects library designed to create natural sounding cymbal swells with a variety of different cymbals and performances.

We brought in a professional drummer to perform each of the swells and on during the recording sessions we covered a wide variety of cymbal shapes and sizes. Cymbals included gongs, orchestral suspended cymbals, crashes, chinas, sizzle ride, and others.

Great care was taken to record each performance with the highest sonic quality and detail. We chose a relatively reflection free space with a super low noisefloor and recorded through John Hardy M1 preamps for the big clean gain. Schoeps and Neumann mics were used to get full coverage of each cymbal.

Swell features

  • 24 bit 96k metadata tagged wav files.
  • 500+ unique recordings.
  • The entire “Natural” collection.
  • The entire “Designed” collection.
  • 6.5 total Gb of sounds.
  • 12 Kontakt fully programmed unlocked .nki files.
  • .nki files require full version of NI Kontakt 5.3 or higher.

The Swell library is available to purchase for $79 USD. A Lite Collection edition is available for $15 USD.

echo | collective releases Squelch radio sound fx library for Kontakt

Echo Collective Squelch

echo | collective has launched Squelch, a full featured interactive radio instrument and sound effects library.

The Squelch sound library is a collection of 6 radios, walkie talkies, and CBs recorded both through the speakers and in some cases through the line outs. Each device served up a broad palette of static, beeps, clicks, squelches, and random idle chatter.

The Kontakt instrument is a unique performable radio device designed for experimentation and discovery of the broad palette of sounds. It also includes a classic spring reverb unit with a custom interface created from a Pioneer SR202W. See the Kontakt interface here.

These authentic radio recordings are useful in sound design/film applications and can be twisted out into musical and sound design effects.

Squelch features

  • 24 bit 96k metadata tagged wav files.
  • 93 unique recordings with hundreds of individual sounds.
  • 1.8 Gb of sound.
  • 1 really cool Kontakt unlocked .nki file.
  • .nki files require full version of NI Kontakt 4 or higher.

The sound library costs $15 USD.

echo | collective release Little Boxes sample library

echo | collective Little boxes

echo | collective has launched Little Boxes, a curated collection of four unique sound sets designed to compliment one another sonically and texturally.

These textures move from acoustic to electroacoustic to analog synthesis. The tonal palette of one instrument fits like a puzzle piece into the sound of the others. Each deeply expressive, these instruments compliment each other in both musical and sound design contexts.

All of these instruments were miked or directly recorded in MONO, providing for thick, punchy recordings. The Kontakt instruments break the sounds into stereo however, and push the source material much deeper into its potential.

Little Boxes features

  • 24 bit 96k metadata tagged wav files.
  • 342 unique recordings.
  • 3.1 Gb of sounds.
  • 79 Kontakt unlocked .nki files.
  • .nki files require full version of NI Kontakt 4 or higher.
  • Photos.

The sample library costs $55 USD. A Limited Collection (16bit/44kHz) is available for $30 USD.
