The Drum Broker intros !llmind 808s & String Breaks

!llmind 808s & String Breaks

The Drum Broker has announced 808s & String Breaks, a sample pack by !llmind.

“For the longest time, I’ve had the idea to develop a complete sound kit consisting of nothing but string sections. Classical music has played a huge part in my life, and throughout the years, I’ve learned to appreciate the various textures that string instruments deliver, regardless of genre, from cellos, to violins, to epic 30 piece string orchestras.

“808s & String Breaks” is a culmination of 2 of my favorite textures: heavy TR-808 kick drums, and royalty-free string compositions. I’ve partnered up exclusively with www.hiphopdrumsamples.com to bring to you this unique and exciting special edition BLAP KIT. I hope it inspires you to create amazing musical pieces of your own!” -!llmind

!llmind 808s & String Breaks features

  • Over 120 audio files (over 1.6GB worth) of authentic !llmind 808 kick drums & original string riffs, in 16-bit/44 WAV format.
  • All string riffs were completely composed by !llmind, including violin solos + groups, cello solos & complete multi-piece string orchestras. String Riffs vary, from aggressive 87 BPM minor chord “street sounding” riffs, to 120 BPM Pop compositions & everything in-between!
  • All 808 kick drums were sampled from an actual TR-808, into an Ensoniq ASR-10 AND Akai S-20 at 33khz/12-bit for maximum warmth + punch!

The sample pack is available from the Drum Broker for $24.99 USD.

Hollow Sun updates Freepacks for Kontakt

Hollow Sun has announced it has updated its Freepacks sample libraries for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Hollow Sun SQ Strings
Freepacks includes the SQ Strings lush analogue string sound from the Ensoniq SQ80.

Amongst them, you’ll find THE PolyMoog Keyboard 280e ‘Vox Humana’ (THE sound used on Gary Numan’s ‘Cars’), Polymoog Strings I and II, various pads, Ensoniq SQ80 strings, Buddhist instruments, Novachord, Speak & Spell and Novation BassStation…

These raise the ante as to what expect of a freebie with sumptuous GUIs and flexibility one doesn’t even get from some ‘payware’ Kontakt products – an LFO, multimode/dual slope filter, dual envelopes for a great deal of synthesis flexibility plus chorus > flange/phase shifter > stereo/mono echo into convolution reverb with custom impulses multiFX all in an an easy to use and compact panel. They come with documentation and many with preset variations. There are some simpler Kontakt 3.5 freebies too. And they are all free for you to enjoy.

These are not compromised or crippled in any way – all perfectly looped and totally and professionally usable. My thanks (as always) to Mario/Evil Dragon of this parish for his masterful scripting.

Why? Well, we believe in bringing quality sounds at affordable prices and you don’t get cheaper than free. Also, it gives a taster of what’s on offer and what we get up to here at HS Towers. We do ok out of this business so it’s nice to give a bit back. And yes, if these entice some to put their hands in their pockets and buy some stuff, so much the better.

The Freepacks libraries are available to download at no cost. Requires Kontakt 4.2.4 or higher, full version.

Binary Music Crosswave

Binary Music has announced the release of Crosswave, a sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt, Ableton Live and Apple EXS24.

The Ensoniq SQ80 was originally manufactured in 1988 as the successor to the ESQ1.

The hardware instrument used three 8-bit wavetable oscillators per voice and digital amplifiers but, crucially, it had Curtis 4 pole 24dB/octave filters, making it a distinctive hybrid instrument.

Our sampled instrument has an easy-to-use custom interface and contains 133 patches made from 1,642 individual samples recorded at 44.1 kHz, 24 bit resolution.

The sample library is available to purchase for £15 GBP (Kontakt) / £12 GBP (Live & EXS24) + VAT in E.U.

Rhythmic Robot releases Grit Kit for Kontakt

Rhythmic Robot Grit Kit

Rhythmic Robot has announced the release of Grit Kit, an analogue drum synthesiser sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

At its most basic, Grit Kit allows the user to create entirely original drum sounds using sampled analogue waveforms, transients and noise, multimode resonant filters, attack and decay envelopes, and other typical drum synth controls.

The difference that Grit Kit brings to this process is that every wave within the instrument has been recorded through the circuitry of three different vintage hardware samplers: the 8-bit Ensoniq Mirage, the 12-bit Akai S950, and the 13-bit Ensoniq EPS. These waves have been recorded over and over again using different settings of the source samplers, and pushing the input circuitry of those samplers harder and harder, allowing the user to dial in exactly as much hardware character as they want for their sound.

Grit Kit features

  • A uniquely inspiring source for analogue drum sounds with a hardware-sampler edge.
  • Choose from Ensoniq Mirage, Akai S950, or Ensoniq EPS samples.
  • Mix and match between samplers for absolute precision in creating your custom kit pieces.
  • Adjust the amount of grit and character from your hardware sampler by simply turning a dial.
  • Massive, pumping beats with an entirely individual sound: craft your very own signature drum tone.
  • Grit Kit ships with a pack of 16 preset kits covering everything from tight studio kits to total sonic mayhem.

The Grit Kit library is available to purchase for £34.95 GBP.
