ModeAudio releases Urban Middle East

ModeAudio Urban Middle East

ModeAudio has released Urban Middle East, a field recording sample library featuring 6 ambient sound recordings.

The air is thick with heat, dust and bustling city activity in this carefully recorded ambient sound collection. Across the 6 files contained you will be presented with a range of street sounds from frantic market sellers and twittering finches shading from the burning sun, to the hum of air conditioning in the empty night.

If you want to take your listeners on a journey, Field Recordings 004 – Urban Middle East is the release you’ve been waiting for. We’ve shaded our eyes from the relentless sun and squeezed our way through the crowds, microphones and recorder in tow, so you don’t have to!

The sample pack is available for £6 GBP.

99Sounds releases free Rain And Thunder sample pack

99Sounds has announced the release of Rain And Thunder, a free sound library from the new indie sound design label started by Bedroom Producers Blog, featuring 64 high quality audio samples recorded during a spring storm on the streets of Belgrade.

99Sounds Rain And Thunder

This free sample collection contains all the sound effects you may need in order to evoke the atmosphere of a rainy day in a large city. You can hear the cars passing by on some of the recordings, tires splashing through puddles and people walking around in a hurry. The rest of the audio content was recorded in quieter parts of the city, far from the busy downtown. I’ve also recorded the beautiful sound of raindrops falling on an umbrella, it almost sounds like vinyl noise.

There are also around twenty recordings of distant thunder rumble. These can be mixed with clean recordings of rain, if you need background noise for a movie or an audio project. The coolest part of this sound library though are the samples of seven thunders which struck very close, even too close if you ask me. Those are the most valuable samples in the pack, because recording a storm from such close distance is indeed a very rare opportunity.

The sample pack is a free download at 99Sounds.

Native Instruments releases Arcane Attic for Maschine

Native Instruments has announced the release of Arcane Attic, a new Maschine Expansion pack featuring gritty field recordings.

Designed for unconventional beat making across all styles and genres, this Expansion was created, recorded, and designed by BOOM Library. ARCANE ATTIC also comes with new presets for MASSIVE and MASCHINE’s Drum Synths, with a selection of sounds that perfectly complement the out of the ordinary sample material.

Native Instruments Arcane Attic

The high-quality field recordings in ARCANE ATTIC are aimed at electronic music producers or simply anyone looking to add unconventional sounds to their productions. The range of sounds is highly diverse and organized into several categories. It represents a wide spectrum from robotic and mechanical science fiction recordings to heavy cinematic metal impacts, slams, strikes, and buzzing, percussive details. A set of elemental sounds explode with kinetic fire and water blasts. Producers looking to spice up their percussion will also find a range of pistol, rifle, and cannon sounds that have been transformed into pounding drums. Finally, a set of orchestral samples recorded with a live orchestra are included for adding rich, larger-than-life melodies to productions.

Complementing ARCANE ATTIC’s field recordings are a new set of 40 presets for MASSIVE, which provide additional melodic possibilities beyond the orchestral samples. 43 MASCHINE 2 Drum Synth presets feature a clean sound designed to complement ARCANE ATTIC’s gritty sample set with added punch and character. In total, ARCANE ATTIC features 7 projects, 39 drum kits, and 7 special kits, plus a set of 140 pre-arranged patterns for quick inspiration.

ARCANE ATTIC was created by BOOM Library – the sound design company founded in 2010 by Axel Rohrbach, Pierre Langer, and Tilman Sillescu. The sounds are a selection from the BOOM Library product line – now for the first time directly accessible within the MASCHINE beat production environment. Their sound libraries have been featured in films like ‘Sin City – A Dame To Die For’, TV series such as ‘From Dusk Till Dawn The Series’, Games like ‘Battlefield 4’ and trailers for ‘The Hobbit – The
Desolation Of Smaug’, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

A condensed version of ARCANE ATTIC is also available as an iMASCHINE Expansion, for creating unconventional beats on-the-go. The iMASCHINE Expansion features 2 projects and 4 drum kits. Tracks can be exported to MASCHINE STUDIO, MASCHINE, and MASCHINE MIKRO for completion.

Arcane Attic is available for purchase for $49 / 49 EUR / £44 GBP. Requires Maschine 2 software. The iMaschine Expansion is available for $0.99 USD / 0.89 EUR / £0.69 GBP.

Ivory Bunker releases free sample packs

Ivory Bunker has announced 4 new free sample packs.

I’ve opened up the Ivory Bunker Samplepacks page a couple of months ago with the idea of sharing some of the sounds I’ve recorded or created over the last couple of years. I may have used some of those already and/or might in the future, but a lot of them are probably doomed to gather binary dust.

Trusting that there are plenty creative people out there who can make good use of some sounds that go beyond the scope of most commercially (including the freebies coming with magazines) packs and libraries, I decided to start out with a focus on my collection of recordings of my DIY- and Circuit Bent Instruments and the like, as well as the occasional field recordings.

New packs at Ivory Bunker

  • Samplepack 2: Waves Mallorca 24bit/44.100 (38MB) — rec wavs16 selections from field recordings of waves captured on Mallorca March 2013. Recorded with the built-in mics on a zoom h4n. Post processed for ideal results. 24/44.100.
  • Samplepack 3: Atari Punk Console 16bit/44.100 (24MB) — APCC142 (fortytwo) 16bit/44.1kHz/mono wav files* all recorded from either my “Atari Punk Cassette Console” or an Atari Punk Console Circuit built with two 555 chips on a breadboard.
  • Samplepack 4 Kid’s Electronic Lab: 24bit/44.100 (38MB) — ElectronicLab 30inONE18 24bit/44.1kHz/mono wav files* of recordings of circuits with the 30 in ONE Electronic Lab. All from Audio-related Experiments – simple oscillators, siren, etc on a Maxitronic 30 in ONE kit.
  • Samplepack 5 The Poor Man’s Synthesizer: 24bit/44.100 (54MB) — This sample pack contains 113 24bit/44.1kHz/mono wav files* sorted into four categories – Bass n Synth, Drones n FX, Loops and Percussive. These have to be read with a grain of salt, as those are probably not your classical construction kit variety sounds. The Poor Man’s Synthesizer (or Chocolate Box Synth) based on a design by Andrew Bentley. You can find the schematics, BOM and layout at John Richard’s Dirty Electronics website, should you be interested in building one of those for yourselves.

The packs are free to download at Ivory Bunker.
