Soniccouture offers Freenotes Morpheus instrument in prize draw

Soniccouture has announced it is offering its Morpheus and Bass Wing in a prize draw.

Soniccouture Morpheus

Made by Freenotes Instruments, this tuned aluminium metallaphone has a modular structure which allows you to rearrange keys into any scale you like.

Worth $2000, the instrument spans two and a half octaves, with the optional ‘Bass Wing’ extension which offers six notes ranging another octave below that of the main unit. It is played with soft mallets, and has an incredibly pure, sine wave like tone which can lull you into a dream-like state… hence the name.
How To Win

Only registered owners of Soniccouture Morpheus are eligible for this competition ; all Morpheus users will be automatically entered into the draw, which will happen on 1st October. We figure that if you really want a real Morpheus, then you probably own the sampled version. Right?

We will pick a winner at random and ship them their prize entirely free of charge.

During the competition the Morpheus sample library will be available to purchase as a download at 50% off MRSP with discount code Q0OP8YSRAH

Soniccouture Morpheus percussion instrument now available for Ableton Live

Soniccouture has released Morpheus for Ableton Live, a unique take on a most unusual mallet percussion instrument, the Freenotes Morpheus.

Soniccouture Morpheus

The Morpheus is one of the cleanest, purest sounds you will hear – add tremolo and it sounds very much like a vibraphone, but with an extra ‘glass-like’ quality. Used with subtle delay and phase effects it takes on a hypnotic quality, showing why it is often used for mediative healing. Roll-off the attack transient and you’re left with an almost perfect sine-wave, but not quite; the gloss and shimmer of the metal still remain, making serene yet characterful sustained tones.

Beyond the multiple acoustic presets that come with Soniccouture Morpheus, there are also a series of abstract presets – the Morpheus, sculpted into ambient textures, lush pads, and other experimental timbres, loops and tones. These presets demonstrate the malleability of the resonances of the Morpheus, and include complex chains of effects, with macros set to easily control the important nuances of the sounds.

Soniccouture announces Morpheus, virtual percussion instrument

Soniccouture Morpheus

Soniccouture has announced Morpheus, a sample library featuring the sounds of an aluminum percussion instrument by Freenotes.

The instrument is modular; the keys can be rearranged in any order you like, as each metal bar is attached to its own tuned resonator.

The Soniccouture Morpheus instrument comes with 2 additional types of instrument apart from the natural version: Morpheus Generator and Morpheus Pad.

The Morpheus Generator is a generative music device built in KSP that creates repetitions (loops) that vary in length while a note is held down. You can have one or two loops active, and a loop will be created for every note you hold down. Playing simple sequences creates constantly moving, shifting patterns & soundscapes. ( not available in EXS version)

The Morpheus Pad uses a different set of samples, fully looped instead of the natural decay. This enables infinitely sustaining glassy pads and textures. These can be further enhanced using phase offset, detune and doubling controls in the Ensemble effect section.

Morpheus features

  • 1.6 GB Sample Library.
  • 24 bit 44.1 Khz Stereo Sampling.
  • 3 Velocity layers , 3-4 Alternate Round Robin layers.
  • Natural Decay and looped Pad Instruments.
  • KSP Generator – ambient pattern generation tool.
  • KSP Jammer – generative arpeggiator.
  • KSP Strummer – allows you to ‘strum’ or sweep notes across the keyboard.
  • KSP Ensemble Effect Processor.
  • 40 Kontakt instrument presets.

Morpheus is available for Kontakt (Kontakt 3.5 or 4.1.1, NOT compatible with free Kontakt Player) and EXS24, priced at £49 GBP / €49 EUR / $79 USD.

Until 26 November, 2010 you can get £10 GBP / €10 EUR / $15 USD discount by entering the following code at checkout: GK4SDTZQ1X
