Ju-X Designs has released Gimmick Mini, a free synthesizer instrument plugin-in for Mac.
Gimmick’s oscillator draws waveform by setting how many times to twist it in a cycle and then divides it by scanning up and down direction, finally player can also determine ratios of each turning points.
Gimmick synth is under ongoing development, and this Mini version has been built with basic concept of Gimmick. It is absolutely free, so try it today and experiment the new way of synthesis!
The plug-in is a free download for Mac OSX 10.7 or later (AU).

Justin Dolby has released Smack My Batch Up, a free Max/MSP application for generating new sounds from samples with plugins.
Smack My Batch Up is a software tool designed to batch process audio files.A folder of WAV files can be loaded into the software along with up to 5 VST plug-in effects. When the programme is activated each WAV file in the folder is loaded and played through the VST FX rack and the resulting sound is recorded to disk. In addition to the VST rack, the speed of the sample playback can be altered, as well as the sample rate and bit depth of the new files. A folder location can be specified for the new sounds to be stored in, and a word can be added to the end of each file name to differentiate them from the original files.
The main purpose of Smack My Batch Up is to automate the process of creating new sounds for musical composition or sound design work. By chaining together different effects a folder of boring drum loops can be turned into evolving pads, or a folder of field recordings can be turned into percussion loops. A tempo box is provided allowing you to use tempo-sync’d FX so the resulting files will fit the tempo of your song.

Ignite Amps has updated its free NRR-1 custom 3 channels tube preamp effect plug-in to version 2.0.
NRR-1 is a digital emulation of a three channels tube preamplifier for guitar. It has been developed to accurately model its real harware counterpart, built for Fleshgod Apocalypse guitarist Cristiano Trionfera by Ignite Amps, back in 2009.
The NRR-1 core circuit is mainly based on a famous boutique preamplifier made in ’88, modded to suit Cristiano’s needs in the best possible way. It can deliver tones from jazzy clean, to blues or rock crunch, to modern bonecrushing metal rhythms and leads, with everything in between.
