Ugo Audio has announced that its VST plug-ins for Windows are now available as freeware.
Ugo’s M-theory synthesizer offers a wide range of high quality synthetic and synth/acoustic hybrid modeled sounds.
From 2003-2011 I was into designing synths and effects with SynthEdit. I was obsessed with it for years but eventually my life became increasingly busy, leaving me with no time for plugin development. These are the results of those experiments – some of which were pretty popular, and all of which I thought were quite fun.
They are all rather old now, and very outdated as far as system compatibility goes. To use them these days, you’ll need either a 32-bit Windows host or a wrapper such as jBridge. Also, only Rez is multi-core compatible, so for all others you can only use one instance per project without crashing your host. You may bump into a few other bugs too.
Due to their age, and that I no longer have time to update them, I’ve decided to make even the previously commercially released plugins freeware now. I hope you have some fun with them.
The free downloads include M-theory & Dualism, Rez, Disturbance, Ironhead Suite, Metallurgy, and more.

Saltline has released version 1.0.2 of its Liść-delay, a simple delay line effect that features pre and post effect filters.
The dry signal can be passed through the pre effect filter before the output and/or before the effect section. The effect section consists of 3 delays with there own dedicated filters, left, centre (left+right) and right. This setup can create a range of sounds from subtle spatial effects to twisted glitching when automating delay rate and filter cutoff together.
Changes in Liść-delay v1.0.2
- New user interface.
- Input filter LFO.
- Delay offset (sync/free).
- Effect bypass.
- Simple preset manager.
- Larger preset bank. (Check the preset page and Lisc-verb’s info page for more details).

Tokyo Dawn has announced the release of SlickEQ, a mixing/mastering equalizer designed for ease of use, musical flexibility and impeccable sound, developed in collaboration with Variety Of Sound.
Three (and a half) filter-bands arranged in a classic Low/Mid/High semi parametric layout offer fast and intuitive access to four distinct EQ modes, each representing a set of distinct EQ curves and behaviors. An elaborate auto gain option automatically compensates for changes of perceived loudness during EQ operation. Optionally, SlickEQ allows to exclusively process either the stereo sum or stereo difference (i.e. “stereo width”) without additional sum/difference encoding.
In order to warm up the material with additional harmonic content, SlickEQ offers a switchable EQ non-linearity and an output stage with 3 different saturation models. These options are meant to offer subtle and interesting textures, rather than obvious distortion. The effect is made to add the typical “mojo” often associated with classy audio gear.
An advanced 64bit multirate processing scheme practically eliminates typical problems of digital EQ implementations such as frequency-warping, quantization distortion and aliasing.
- Intuitive, yet flexible semi parametric EQ layout.
- Full featured, modern user interface with outstanding usability and ergonomics.
- Carefully designed 64bit “delta” multi-rate structure.
- Three EQ bands with additional 18dB/Oct high-pass filter.
- Four distinct EQ models: “American”, “British”, “German” and “Soviet” with optional non-linearity.
- Four output stages: “Linear”, “Silky”, “Mellow” and “Deep”.
- Advanced saturation algorithms by VoS (“stateful saturation”).
- Highly effective and musically pleasing loudness compensated auto gain control.
- Oversampled signal path including stateful saturation algorithms.
- Stereo and sum/difference processing options.
- Tool-bar with undo/redo, A/B, advanced preset management and more.
SlickEQ is available as a free effect plug-in for Windows and Mac (VST/AU). VST3 and AAX formats will follow later.

Audiotechracy has announced a collection of free guitar patches for Propellerhead Reason.
After the success of the ‘Rock and Metal Drums ReFill Vol.1′ that I released a while back I have decided to follow that up with a set of guitar patches for you all to try. Rather that releasing this in the form of a ReFill, this time the download is in the form of just a Reason file with the patches all lined up in it for you.
The reason for doing this is that some of the patches are wah devices and include the automation lanes for the wah effect within the file. Also, whilst all of the patches are based in a Reason audio track, some of them use audio tracks paired up with Propellerhead Combinator patches built on the Line6 guitar rig (I’ve used the ‘Thrash Metal Rig’ one, but toned it down a bit). I could have built all the effects into Combinator patches and then released that as just a single unit, but I wanted to make these patches as accessible as possible to everyone. So no loading up patches or connecting things up to different audio channels then having to automate the wah yourself.
With these patches you just plug your guitar in, select the patch you want and off you go. If you want to then use these in Reason projects rather than just for practicing with then you can copy and paste them over to your tracks in the usual way.
The patches are a free download at Audiotechracy.
