db audioware updates Sidechain Compressor & Sidechain Gate to v2.0

db audioware has released version 2.0 of Sidechain Compressor and Sidechain Gate, two effect plug-ins for Windows and Mac.

db audioware Sidechain Compressor

Sidechain Compressor is a flexible VST/AU compressor plug-in. It can be used as a regular channel strip compressor for clean crisp compression & limiting across a wide range of mixing jobs (e.g. adding punch to drum tracks or presence to vocals). For additional flexibility, the sidechain controls (Lo Cut/Hi Cut/Shape) let you customise the compression response.

Sidechain Gate lets you perform clever mixing techniques, by using a source track to gate a destination track. For example, you can use a complex hi-hat pattern in one track to rhythmically gate a synth pad in another track. Or simplify a busy bass guitar by gating it from a kick drum track (so the bass guitar is only heard when the kick drum sounds).

Changes in Sidechain Compressor & Gate v2.0

  • 64-bit VST and Audio Unit plug-in support (for hosts such as Logic Pro X, Cubase, Reaper).
  • Easier licensing (challenge/response has been replaced with a simple serial number).
  • A new sidechaining mechanism (using 4 inputs) in addition to the existing Universal Sidechain feature (Requires a host which supports multi input plug-ins such as Reaper).
  • Support for the latest OS X and Windows operating systems.

Sidechain Compressor and Sidechain Gate are available for purchase for $79 USD and $59 USD respectively. Existing owners of previous versions of these plug-ins can upgrade for $20 USD.

Robotic Bean Euclid Rhythm Generator

Euclid Rhythm Generator is a Rack Extension for Propellerhead Reason that uses Euclid’s Algorithm to generate natural-sounding rhythmical patterns. You can use it to trigger anything that has a gate input: Drums, synths or even external instruments.

It’s dead simple to use — Just hook it up and start tweaking the knobs! The graphical display visualizes every change you make to your pattern in real-time, and Euclid always stays in time with the music. Euclid also comes with tons of inspiring patches to use as a starting point.

Euclid Rhythm Generator features

  • Euclidean gate sequencer with up to 32 steps.
  • Patterns can be rotated up to 16 steps in both directions using the offset control.
  • Advanced display that visualizes your pattern in real time.
  • Individual mute buttons for each step, with support for click & drag.
  • Always in sync with Reason’s main sequencer, at user-selectable resolution.
  • Everything can be automated, modulated and remote controlled (except for the mute buttons).
  • Four gate outputs provide unique variations of the same pattern.
  • Reset input and output, quantized to the current resolution.
  • Shuffle and slide controls, fully compatible with the corresponding controls in Reason’s ReGroove mixer.

Overtone DSP DYN4000

OverTone DSP has released DYN4000, a channel compressor/expander/gate plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Based on channel dynamics processing from one of the best-known British recording consoles, the DYN4000 comprises compressor / limiter and expander / gate sections.

The plug-in includes a true RMS side-chain detector, while the compressor provides a switchable soft / hard knee characteristic, ensuring smooth onset of compression at the threshold point or more aggressive dynamics control on demand.

Switchable compressor fast attack settings are also provided as is variable programme dependent release while the expander / gate section provides a 1:2 downward expander or a 1:∞ gate setting with threshold hysteresis.

DYN4000 for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) is available for purchase for £20 GBP.

Unfiltered Audio releases G8 Dynamic Gate plugin

Related: , , , , Posted in news on May 07, 2014 - comment 0 comments

Unfiltered Audio has announced the release of G8 Dynamic Gate, a gate effect plug-in for Windows and Mac.

Unfiltered Audio G8

G8 is a high-quality noise gate with many tricks up its sleeve. It is both a professional dynamics workstation and an experimental amplitude effect.

Use it for noise reduction, AM/granular synthesis, bouncing ball rhythm programming, tremolo, trajectory panning, transient shaping, and much, much more.

G8 Dynamic Gate features

  • “Cycle” and “One-shot” gating modes give you the ability to use G8 as a stutter effect, AM/granular, or tremolo.
  • Customizable MIDI inputs and outputs allow you to trigger G8 from MIDI clips or to synchronize instruments to G8 for drum replacement or groove extraction. Combined with G8’s alternative gating modes, you can create intricate rhythms, bouncing ball effects, or MIDI clips with granular trigger patterns. Synchronize two instances of G8 over MIDI for the ultimate customizable sidechain.
  • “Reject” Outputs allow you to hear the audio that gets blocked by the gate. Use this innovative feature to create amplitude-dependent effect chains.
  • “Flip mode” swaps the regular outputs with the Reject Outputs. Use G8 as a strange compressor, or remove grains from your audio.
  • Expert Mode contains an advanced routing, amplitude, and filtering matrix for each channel, as well as individual input monitors for up to 4 channels. Use this to clean up the analysis input with even more precision, or to create unpredictable gating polyrhythms.
  • Sidechain support (in select hosts, please see the compatibility list for more information).
  • Independent Analysis Gain and Output Gain controls eliminate the frustration of balancing your mix with your ideal analysis level.
  • RMS and Peak style metering selection ensures that you will always have the right tool for the job.
  • Lookahead control with accurate latency reporting to the host.
  • Wet/Dry control for parallel gating, compression, or expansion. The dry signal is latency-compensated to prevent any unwanted phase issues.
  • Variable Reduction controls the depth of the gating, from full silence to barely-there disturbances.
  • Hysteresis and Hold parameters to prevent “chatter” or unwanted dropouts.
  • Locking modes allow you to keep specific parameters frozen on preset change.
  • DRM Free. When you buy it, you own it. No serial numbers, dongles, or forced internet connections.
  • Steam Cloud Support means that if you use G8 Gate through Steam, all of your presets will be automatically backed up to the cloud and synced between your computers. Every purchase of G8 includes a Steam Key.

The plug-in is available for Windows and Mac (VST/AU) for the introductory price of $39.99 USD until May 13th, 2014 (regular $49.99 USD).

123creative releases Multiband NoiseGate NX3

123creative Multiband NoiseGate NX3

123creative has launched Multiband NoiseGate NX3, a multi-band noise gate effect plug-in for Windows.

Noise gate is processor that „mute“ signal that is quieter than threshold level and vice versa pass signal that is louder than threshold level. This is mostly used during recording of live drums on more microphones, so if you are recording hi-hats microphone is also recording kick drum but at much lower level. You want to remove quite sound of bass drum from hi-hat channel – you use noise gate. Noise gate is useful also for removing low analog noise, low room reverb or some disturbing noises/speech in background of record. Next example from real use: you are recording guitar and want to use digital simulation of pedals and combo, but you record it with very low noise level for example -80db, later this low level noise is multiplied by distortion/fuzz pedal simulation to level -40db and more, so you need to remove this noise: it is suggested to use noisegate at input to remove very low noise -80db.

Often you don’t want to mute full frequency spectrum, but you want to set different threshold level of other frequency ranges – for example you want to mute just quite subbass under 50db.

For these purposes you will need Multi band noise gate.

Multiband noise gate can be used also for special creative effects, try it on any drum loops or if you are slicing melodic loops (with Slicer in FL studio for example) for creating glitch music styles, try to use multi band noise gate to get much more natural sound and effect of more glued slices together. Possibilities are endless…from technical things to creative freedom.

The plugin is available for the introductory price of 13.23 EUR (regular 18.90 EUR).
