Antonio Blanca has introduced Dron-e, a free drone ensemble for Native Instruments Reaktor.
Dron-e is a Reaktor Instrument specialised in creating ambient, generative, abstract and cinematic soundscapes and drones. Dron-e contains flexible parameters and controls for creating everything from delicate atmospheres to complex walls of sound.
Included is a custom created sound bank of acoustic and synthetic instrument and field recordings designed specially for Dron-e, but you can load your own and venture into unknown sonic territories.
In addition to the pre-established modulators and controls, it’s possible to use your own modulators built in Reaktor such as sequencers or break-point envelopes using the EXT option, as well as MIDI/OSC signals to further shape your sounds.

H.G. Fortune has introduced GhostMachine WoF Edition 2012, a free virtual instrument in celebration of its anniversary.
GhostMachine WoF Edition 2012 free algorithmic instrument for Windows.
As May 6th is on a sunday this year it is a good day for a surprise in reconnecting to the past some way. The circle of the spiral crosses the point where it all began: HGFortune’s very 1st public VSTi ‘Wheel of Fortune’ or WoF! In reminiscense to this after about 9 years here is a worthy successor GhostMachine WoF Edition 2012 which is an offspring of the bigger project GhostMachine.
GhostMachine WoF Edition 2012 ties some links to it’s predecessor in having a Bass & HiSq part, a scale based algorithmic composing system, a pattern based sequencer with 2 x 8 steps instead of 4 and with the note pattern being editable. And what is most important it does have that very special vivid groovy feel back. And, yes, as of May 6th GhostMachine WoF Edition 2012 is free!
H.G. Fortune has also announced a contest in which you are asked to create note patterns for a chance to win Ghost Machine Pro (scheduled for release around May 18th, 2012) and additional plugins.
Taco van Dijk has updated the Changeling sequencer app for iOS to v1.1
Changeling is the super easy, flexible, diatonic chord sequencer.
It’s purpose is to help people enjoy composing music by providing the basic tools to improvise! Improvisation is a skill that can normally only be obtained by investing a lot of discipline and time in to studying music theory and practice.
Changeling does not generate compositions for you, you remain in full creative control over your music. All recorded musical notes remain relative, and can be changed in various ways during playback.
Changes in Changeling v1.1
16; one for each midi channel.
all parameters for each track in a sequence are saved & recalled.
lock scales and root notes per track, independently (longpress gesture).
cycle through tracks by swiping up and down the pattern area
copy/paste & clear patterns, works between sequences (longpress gesture).
multiple undo / redo, state is saved each time you switch from record to playback.
quantization while recording patterns.
midi export via email (records all parameter changes & midi channel info).
support for custom soundfonts; Open them in changeling via Dropbox or Email for example. The internal sampler is still monophonic though.
fast sequence switching (by swiping left and right in the pattern area).
memory; Soundfonts are unloaded in MIDI mode.
bugfixes, one relating to a MIA scale.
Changeling for iOS is available to purchase for $4.99 USD.
