Jonathan Howe releases free Glockenspiel for Kontakt

Jonathan Howe has released a free virtual Glockenspiel instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Jonathans Glockenspiel
The Kontakt interface features a simple reverb on/off switch, a knob for the size of the reverb, a function that randomly detunes the keys and a simple 3-Band EQ.

I recently started my first little sampling project and to keep things simple I started with a glockenspiel that I had lying around here for a while now.

It consists of 1 and a half octave and I have sampled 7 velocity layers for each note. Naturally it can play in the keys of C, G and F but I have stretched some samples to make it a little more versatile. I colored these red on the keyboard so you know when you are using stretched samples and can avoid them if you don’t want to. Additionally I added a few sounds of dropping the mallet one octave below the playing range, making it 101 individual samples!

Jonathan’s Glockenspiel is available to download at no charge.

MA Simon releases Silver Glockenspiel for Kontakt

MA Simon has released Silver Glockenspiel, a traditional and bowed instrument for Native Instruments Kontakt developed in collaboration with Mihai Sorohan.

MA Simon Silver Glockenspiel
MA Simon Silver Glockenspiel for Kontakt

The Glockenspiel has been carefully sampled both with mallets and a violin bow. Within this library you will find Solo and Section Patches. The Instrument has been sampled cromatically from C3-C5. But i extended the playing range to G2-C5 for the Mallets and to G2-E5 for the Bowings. There are two velocity layers for the Mallet artikulation, which has been sampled without RR (There are however pitched 3RR on the Solo patches) and one velocity layer for the bowing artikulation, which has been sampled with 4RR. The volume of the Bowed Instruments is controlled with the modwheel.

There are looped and unlooped patches so you can either play the original recorded bowings ore the more smooth and looped ones for more fluid playing. I included some handy controls on the Kontakt interface for quick use of: Attack and Release for all Mallet Patches and Attack, Hold, Decay, Sustain and Release for all the Bowed patches. I hope you will enjoy playing with it. Have fun!

Silver Glockenspiel requires Kontakt 4.2 or higher and is available to purchase from Samplism for £4.99 GBP.
