Granular atmospheres, rich evolving pads, mind bending glitchy beats, rhythmic sound patterns and deep melodic ideas come together to create a beautiful and thought provoking collection of loops and samples.
Created by sound designer and composer Carlos Butler, who has gone to great lenths to design an extremely well produced and complex selection of loops that are surprisingly flexible and easy to use. The samples work well layered with each other, as they do individually when dropped into an existing project.
Partikkel Audio has introduced plug-in versions of its Hadron particle synthesizer, previously released for Max for Live.
The Hadron synth is now available to hosts that support VST/AU plugins.
The Hadron plugin is your ultimate granular synthesis tool. In fact it is such a complete implementation of granular synthesis we’ve renamed the technique to particle synthesis. The plugin is of course free and open source.
For your convenience, we’ve made a preset system allowing you to quickly get started making music with it. All presets have selected “expression controls” to allow creativity and flexibility, and you can morph between presets for ultimate creativity. The plugin comes with a basic set of presets, and you can buy additional preset packs to expand your sonic palette. This kind of presets is called “states” in Hadron.
Hadron can be used as a synthesizer or an audio effect. It can also seamlessly morph between different sound processing methods, so you can make the plugin gradually change from synthesizer to audio processing mode. This is all part of the state morphing system, accessible via the big 2D joystick control.
You can also use live sampling as a sound source for manipulation with Hadron, as well as audio files and live audio input.

Steinberg has announced the release of Absolute, a VST instrument collection comprising the HALion Sonic workstation, the Hypnotic Dance, Triebwerk and Dark Planet instruments alongside the Retrologue virtual-analog and Padshop Pro granular synthesizers.
HALion Sonic combines a high-quality sample library with a powerful sampling and synthesis engine that unfolds infinite possibilities for sound generation. M-RGT has announced the release of psyGEN, an experimental granular synthesizer plug-in for Windows.
The psyGEN granular multilayer synthesizer uses samples as the source for unique sound generation in the creation of experimental ambient soundscapes, drones, special effects, as well as more traditional synthesizer sounds.
Using granular synthesis as a basis it adds extensive Modulation and FX capabilities to take any type of .wav file source and turn it into a multi-layered composition of great complexity.
With the built-in 16 track sequencer, long evolving ambient/drone sounds can be created and cross-faded with other sounds to create dense tapestries of sound. Also, the sequencer allows for more rhythmic based compositions or patches as well. It is possible to create an entire composition with just one track incorporating many variations.
psyGEN can be used as a standalone synthesizer with a plug-in like SaviHost or similar program or can be installed as a VSTi with a Host DAW.
