• String-Instruments
  • Autoharp – This is a stringed instrument with a series of chord bars. Despite its name, the autoharp is not a harp – it’s a chorded zither – and it’s the perfect instrument to give subtle highlights to all kinds of music. (6 patches)
  • Muted Baritone Ukulele – This is the largest size of ukulele and is tuned differently to the others (D-G-B-E, the same as the last four strings of a standard guitar, as opposed to G-C-E-A). We’ve concentrated on the muted played notes which can add beautiful light and subtle elements to your music. (3 patches)
  • Kantele – This a traditional plucked string instrument of the zither family native to Finland and Estonia with a distinctive bell-like sound and a diatonic tuning. We’ve made a Kontakt patch to play it in a chromatic tuning. (3 patches)
• Key-Instruments
  • Magnus Harmonica Organ – This little organs use an electric fan to blow air across reeds, like a giant harmonica with keys. (3 patches)
  • Super Sound EK-470 – This is the processed e-piano sound of a low-cost, garbage keyboard for just €25. The sound is warm and crunchy. (3 patches)
  • Zeitter & Winkelmann Piano – This is our rehearsal piano, located in one of our control rooms. It’s got a warm and organic charm. (3 patches).
• Mallets / Percussion (Tuned)
  • Glass – A collection of glasses and vases in different sizes. We scrubbed, rubbed, tapped and hit all the glass and made some very nice instruments out of it. (3 patches)
  • Metallic Objects/Lids – A collection of lid sounds. We struck the lids with fingers and recorded various sounds. It allows you to make up your own lid-mallet sound.
• Percussion
  • Metallic Objects/Kitchen, Handrail – This is a collection of sounds, noises, crashes and bangs made with our studio fixture and fittings: our iron KITCHEN and our staircase with its huge HANDRAIL. The result is astonishing: experimental percussion, strange and remarkable mallets.
  • Percussion – All percussion sounds are easy to play in a lively, realistic and organic way (no loops). Available as a multi set or single instruments of: Bongos, Chimes, Guiro, Ocean Drum, Shaker, Spring Drum and Tambourine. Just in the multi are: Toms, Cymbals and Wood.

Cinematique Instruments libraries are available in .nki-format for Native-Instruments Kontakt 3 or 3.5. All samples are in 44.1 kHz/ 16Bit mono/stereo .wav-Format. Prices start at 7 EUR.

Bolder Sounds has announced the release of Harmonium, a sample library for Kontakt and EXS24.

This beautiful sounding Harmonium was sampled in 4 articulations (listed below) as well as key press and release noises for each key. Programming utilizes the modulation wheel (cc#1) to emulate the pumping of the bellows via amplitude and filter modulation.

Harmonium features

• 480 mb chromatically sampled 3 1/2 octave Harmonium 24 bit stereo .wav files.
• Natively programmed for Kontakt 2 & 3 as well as the Apple EXS24.
• Articulations:
  • Chromatic single notes with cover open and closed.
  • Chromatic octave couplet engaged with cover open and closed.
  • Key press and release noise for each key.

Bolder Sounds has also released Harmonica, a sample library featuring the sounds of a Marine Band harmonica (in the key of A) by the Hohner Company.

The samples are 24 bit mono with NO LOOPS for a natural sound and total 31 megabytes. I originally recorded these samples in stereo but have decided to sum them to mono for the final version. Perhaps in a future Bolder FREE sound set I will sample bends and other gestures which give this instrument it’s signature sound.

Kong Audio has released ChineeSheng, a virtual mouth organ instrument for Windows PC.

As one of the earliest and most commonly recognized Chinese instruments, Sheng, a free-reed, mouth-blown instrument, which can be traced back to at least 3,000 years ago, has withstood against time and still is a vital key piece in today’s Chinese music. Sheng is also said to have inspired the creation of Accordion and Harmonica.

Sheng is extremely versatile and expressive in its own right, with a wide note ranage, as well as much the broad tonal textures, as demonstrated in our official audio demo.

Due to its portability and the polyphony nature, Sheng is also one of the few common accompanying instruments in Chinese music. It’s a must-have piece for scoring a more comprehensive Chinese-themed music.

ChineeSheng features

• 270 MB meticulously produced sample sets.
• All samples are recorded in 24 bit 96 kHz.
• ChineeSheng (in D) contains various types of long tones, vibratos, spit tongues, roll tongues, chorus, and various playing expressions.
• The note range is from A3–F#6.

Harmonica Loops
Harmonicas are used in all sorts of music, by all sorts of people and in civil war / prison / depression era films and probably lots of other places. So pick it up! Bound to find a use for it eventually.

Acoustic Ballad Guitars
6/8 Timing or compound time signatures or that weird waltz type stuff your parents know about, used to be rather popular. However it has fallen out of favor for the more danceable 4/4 time that most everything is done in today. So by using these loops you can now consider your music as experimental.

This pack contains 65 loops keyed in A, C, D and E at 90 bpm (6/8 timing). All loops are available in Sony Acid WAV and Apple Garageband AIFF format. The pack is available for $8.95

• Squarecave: a DIY analog/digital synthesizer – The Squarecave is a hybrid digital and analog music synthesizer. It uses digital CMOS ICs to generate a sequence of oscillations of varying pitch and volume, and then pipes the result through analog filters (lo-pass, hi-pass, band-pass).

• The HarmoNESica – That's a NES cartridge and a harmonica.
• The “Amen Break” and Golden Proportion by Michael S. Schneider – I became intrigued when I saw an image of the audio waves themselves because I immediately recognized the Golden Ratio in the structure of its timing. And I was surprised to find an even deeper relationship to the structure of the human body.
