Tone2 Gladiator

Tone2 has announced Gladiator, a powerful new synthesizer based on Advanced Harmonic Content Morphing (HCM) synthesis.

Developer Markus writes about HCM synthesis:

The new synthesis method is based on a large and expandable repertoire of standard waves like saw or pulse as well as complex waves like multi waves, trumpets, organs, pads, pianos, and voice samples.

These waves can be modified in real-time by e.g. transposing the wave by one or two octaves and adding it to the original wave, altering its harmonic structure, syncing, compressing or expanding the frequency domain of the spectrum, making the wave fat using only one (!) oscillator by transforming each wave into a supersaw, selecting some cycles of a sample and moving through them over time (comparable to wavetable synthesis)…

Any modification of a wave can be modulated producing lively shimmery sounds (recall: with only one oscillator!). In total there are more than 30000 different spectra available for combination and modulation.

Gladiator features

  • Synthesis: Advanced HCM (new synthesis), FM, AM, PWM
  • Sync, Phase modulation, vocoder sounds, waveshaping, distortion, supersaw, additive sounds, resynthesis sounds, phase distortion sounds
  • Sample playback
  • 30208 waveforms
  • 18 OSCs per voice
  • Effects: 40 different stereo filters, 20 effects
  • Real stereo
  • 162x oversampling
  • Programmable ARP & Step LFO/trancegate
  • BPM syncable
  • Microtuning
  • EQ
  • Modular routing

Gladiator is currently in a private beta testing stage and is expected to be released in early December. It will be available for Windows and Mac OSX (no pricing info yet).
