HISS and a ROAR releases Wet Traffic sound library

Hiss and a Roar Wet Traffic

HISS and a ROAR has announced the release of Wet Traffic, a 11.3GB ambience sample library featuring 93 recordings of traffic on wet roads.

This is a library I have needed myself dozens of times: traffic in a rainy city!

Compiled from over ten hours of recordings and delivered 24 bit 96kHz in dual stereo (ORTF 8040 pair and MKH70 discrete) each track in this library has a minimum duration of 3 minutes and includes locations from inner city, suburbia and motorways, with various densities (busy rush hour, medium/light and single passbys) and a range of degrees of road dampness.

Bring your rainy city ambiences to life!

The sample library costs $49 USD. For the first 24 hours Wet Traffic is on sale for $33 USD.

HISS and a ROAR releases Metal Resonance & Metal Tones sample libraries

HISSandaROAR Metal Resonance

HISS and a ROAR has announced the release of Metal Resonance and Metal Tones, two new sound fx sample libraries.

Metal Resonance includes over 3,000 sounds recorded & delivered in 24 bit/192kHz using 100+ resonant metal props.

The original inspiration for this library originates from a Tom Waits quote: “I’m still looking for the ultimate sound of a real stress metal clang. I wanna hear…. the clang of all clangs!”

So I’ve been collecting props for this library for the last two years – buying old spanners, pipes, wrenches, crow bars, hammers, rods, angle iron, girders… And then obsessively recording them: each of over 100 metal props has been recorded at 192kHz using extended frequency range Sennheiser MKH8040 mics.

Metal Tones includes over 300 24bit/96kHz one minute tones and drones created using the Metal Resonance Library as source material.

Inspired by the extreme range of tonalities captured in the METAL RESONANCE Library I have spectrally immersed myself, generating tones and drones ranging from pure harmonic tones through harsher atonal elements to deep, evocative drones. (Apologies if you are looking for the musical genre of metal – this isn’t it!)

Each of the 308 tones in the library are categorised into perceptual groups (Chordal, Deep, Dense, Mid Frequency, Shrill) and tagged with the prop used as source material.

The sound fx packs cost $99 USD each. A discounted bundle of both is available as well.

Hiss and a Roar Entropy

HISS and a ROAR has announced the release of Entropy, a thermodynamic sound library.

This new library was created by recording sound created by heat transfer in many, many different forms.

Whether it was cooking and burning various food types, turning water and ice into vapour, rapidly cooling very hot metals or physically manipulating metal objects on dry ice, this is a library with a very diverse and unusual range of tonalities, perfect for intensely creative sound effects design.

Entropy features

  • 24bit 192kHz.
  • 1,019 stereo sounds in 69 .WAV files.
  • 5.5GB download, 8.4GB uncompressed.

HISS and a ROAR releases free Xmas Present

HISSandaROAR Xmas Present

HISS and a ROAR has released a free 247MB package of 24 bit 96kHz stereo sounds.

First is a brand new but redundant VHS video deck someone gave me which I promptly pulled to pieces and tortured, then are some little wind up toys that I recorded sitting on top of an old 16mm film canister. Third is a strange little prop: an antique herb grinder that I bought in a junk store, which has a great squeak that can be performed at various speeds. Fourth are some sounds I made on my modular synth – analogue synthesis is one form of religion I subscribe to – watch your bass bins is all I can say! Fifth is a green watering can – the kind of practical Xmas present you might like, but as it is metal and very resonant I managed to extract some unique sounds from it when it contained a little bit of water & I could bend the pitch of the resonance. And lastly are some very strange glass squeaks!

The sample pack is a free download for HISS and a ROAR subscribers (subscription free).
