Ueberschall releases Art Of Sounds

Ueberschall Art Of Sounds

Ueberschall has announced the release of Art Of Sounds, a new Elastik Soundbank.

Activate the parallel atmospheric energy in your productions with Ueberschall‘s new school tool „Art of Sounds“. This versatile ensemble of FX mechanism based grooves and loops was made for progressive and experimental sound chemistry. From this original standout concept, you can construct edgy, texturally emphasized grooves for Tracks, Film Score, GameAudio and New Media. With „Art of Sounds“ you will be able to shape material beyond conformity.

Creator of this library is Yvat, distinguished as a Rumanian IDM-artist. All „Art of Sounds“ material was produced exclusively for Ueberschall using his unique, inventive means to create a new world of soundscape sculptures. Bionically infused rhythms coupled with soft and harmonic ambiences deliver a homogenous sound setting of seemingly simple yet impressive environments. Only the semantic and syntax of each of the 679 sounds are used to propel elemental formations into evolved structures.

Art Of Sounds features

  • 1.06 GB content by Rumanian IDM-artist Yvat.
  • 679 Loops and Single Sounds.
  • 69 construction kits between 60 and 136 BPM, seperated into: Single lines, artificial ambiences, IDM illustrations, unperfected loops, additional drum kits shots to generate your own loops with.
  • Elastik Soundbank for Mac/PC/AU/VST/RTAS/StandAlone (Elastik Player included – no sampler required).

Art of Sounds is available for purchase for PC and Mac, priced at 99 EUR.

Some interesting things I found recently:

Gijs Gieskes Acid-Machine

# Gijs Gieskes Acid-Machine – A machine that makes sort of party like music.. (it can also make other types of music).

Gijs explains:

The circle with the lines that you see on the top of the machine, rotates and displays the note you are playing. When you play a C the lines in the middle circle will be standing still.. from the C it will go outward, displaying all notes on a keyboard in 12 steps. It works by making a LED blink in the frequency of the sound, and rotating the image at a set speed. For the distance between the lines i used this table, it displays musical frequencys in centimeters. The sound part of the machine is based on logic ICs, but it also has a simple noise generator, and a filter. The sound the synth generates, is a 4 bit saw, or the same saw clipped to a square. The 4 bit saw is made with a binary counter and a resistor ladder. A nice feature is that you can mix in the binary pins, making one octave jumping chords (like c1 + c2 + c3 or d1 + d2 + d3 and so on).

Review: Loop Cache Abstract Percussion

Loop Cache Abstract Percussion

Loop Cache’s latest offering of loops is Abstract Percussion, a collection of loops designed for layering with a basic kick and snare.

These kickless loops are ideal for dropping into a mix for some extra sparkle and percussive interest in an otherwise straight ahead sounding track or ableton live DJ set.

Abstract Percussion features

  • 262 loops in Wav in REX formats, 24 bit.
  • BPMs range from 120 to 127.

The loops are grouped in some 30+ categories. Titles such as BuzzBleeps and TinCanBeat are a good indication of the type of sound of these loops.

So what do I think?

Abstract Percussion is great for spicing up your basic beats, but you can also work the other way around. I was quite inspired by some of these loops when using them as a starting point.

Loop Cache’s Odd, obtuse and vicious percussive description fits these samples well, glitchy without getting too crazy.

If IDM is your thing you should definitely check out the free demo pack with some loops from Abstract Percussion. At $50 USD it’s not the cheapest pack of loops you’re going to find, but it may very well be worth your money if you’re looking for some quality glitchy loops with a unique sound.
