ifoundasound has released Alpha 4 of LiveProfessor – The Sound Processor, a host software for VST effect plug-ins.
LiveProfessor is designed to be a effect rack of VST-plugins. I have designed it specifically with live sound in mind. The concept is very simple. Using a ASIO audio card you can route inputs and outputs through your VST-plugins. The program supports snapshots, MIDI and both VST-effects and VST-instrument.
Changes in LiveProfessor Alpha 4
- New: Cue lists. recall any number of snapshots at once + +.
- New: MIDI hardware control of all plugin parameters.
- New: Meters, on inputs and outputs of the plugins.
- New: Change ASIO sample rate.
- New: Possible to set default MIDI patch.
- New: Midi input on units now filtered by midi channel.
- New: Possible to ban a plugin from being scanned when looking for new vst-plugins.

Changes in LiveProfessor alpha 3
- New features
- Custom workspaces, save and recall window layouts.
- Chain MIDI from one unit to the other. Plugins that have MIDI out can now be routed to other plug-in’s input.
- Clone units, automatically adds a new unit and loads the settings of the cloned unit.
- Load banks and programs from files ( .fxb, .fxp).
- Custom shortcuts, add or change keyboard shortcuts.
- MIDI panic function (can be assigned a keyboard shortcut from the shortcut manager).
- Right clicking on the navigator now brings up a menu to add, remove or clone a unit.
- Hold down ALT and Scroll to Zoom out the window, makes it easier to rearrange windows.
- Fixes
- Tuner plug-ins not showing right (problem with plugin time info).
- Shared MIDI input dies on removing a unit.
- Bugs in routing window that made connections “stick”.
- A lot of smaller bug fixes.

- Fixed: Crash on startup after building plugin list containing some strange plugins.
- Fixed: Some windows are not fully displayed when their size changed (like Reaktor 5).
- Fixed: Plugin window could flicker when using navigator.
- Fixed: Bug in the VST scanner routine.
- New: Collapse button on each unit.
- New: Window positions are saved on exit.

- Midi input. To control instruments or to allow hands-on control of plugins.
- Fast audio engine to ensure low latency. Using a standard ASIO-card you can have as many inputs and outputs you like.
