Impact Soundworks releases Plectra Series 4: Turkish Oud

Impact Soundworks Turkish Oud

Impact Soundworks has announced the release of Plectra Series 4: Turkish Oud, a new instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Created by Dimitris Plagiannis (designer of our popular 8-string acoustic bouzouki library), this virtual instrument features an incredibly detailed turkish oud with six courses & eleven strings. The library includes all crucial articulations including natural vibrato and two kinds of true legato, as well as a beautiful and inspiring UI. Some of the engine features include a powerful microtuning script with lots of presets, intelligent string positioning / fingering, and an onboard mixer + FX suite.

Much like our other Plectra Series instruments, this library is made to be dead easy to play. No complicated keyswitches or MIDI CCs necessary, just load and start playing. The script engine takes care of everything. Our demos showcase the very authentic sounds you can create with this library, from traditional pieces to more hybrid & modern works.

Plectra Series 4: Turkish Oud features

  • 3,860 x 24bit recordings.
  • 2 x microphone positions.
  • All strings chromatically sampled.
  • 4x dynamics / 4x RR per key.
  • Up & downstrokes.
  • Sustain, hammer-on, pull-off.
  • Tremolo, glissando, vibrato.
  • Automatic or manual control of string, articulation, stroke.
  • Intelligent monopoly voicing; 6 voices max, one per string.
  • Microtuning, lots of oriental presets + custom tuning with variable scales.
  • Mixer suite (mic faders, EQ, compressor, reverb) with save/load.
  • Major, minor, and fifth chords.

The library is available for purchase for the introductory price of $99 USD. Requires Kontakt 5.3 full version.

Impact Soundworks releases Shreddage 2X update + Sale

Impact Soundworks has announced Shreddage 2X, a major update to the popular Shreddage 2 virtual electric guitar library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Impact Soundworks Shreddage 2

The “Shreddage 2X” update includes a total overhaul of the instrument’s UI and underlying engine, adding new features, refinements, options, and even new recordings like powerchord portamento & staccato samples.

Changes in Shreddage 2X

  • UI has been totally redone from the ground up in the style of Archtop. It looks way better, and it’s more intuitive. Check out the Info Bar along the bottom for help text with various controls.
  • The underlying engine has been completely rewritten, from string logic to portamento and double-tracking. Fewer bugs! Better string selection!
  • The entire instrument has been transposed up one octave to make room for new keyswitches.
  • New FX pedals have been added, along with more control over existing FX like the Skreamer pedal or BITE EQ depth.
  • New “Thrash Note” feature. When enabled, select a keyswitch. This key will trigger the LAST played note. Useful for live performance / fast parts.
  • New custom keyswitches. Articulations can now be assigned to keyswitches, instead of (or in addition to) velocities. Keyswitches can be “latched”, or not. Latching means when you press the keyswitch, that articulation will remain on until you press another keyswitch. Without latching, you have to HOLD the key for the articulation to stick.
  • New “Random Resonance” feature. This optional setting will allow for random string resonance, particularly on higher velocities. This can add a bit of extra dirt and sloppiness to your playing.. all in the name of realism!
  • New “Pick Offset” feature. Use this to cut into the sample start time of all notes. Great if you want a snappier response and LESS pick attack.
  • New Velocity -> Volume and Velocity Curve controls. With Velocity to Volume, you can allow the velocity of your keystrokes to affect volume. With a value of 100%, velocity makes a BIG difference on volume, while 0% is like the original S2 playing mode. Or use anything in between! Velocity Curve lets you smoothly adjust the response of the instrument.
  • Various tweaked + improved engine settings (i.e. more options for release noise / extra pick sound).
  • New MIDI CCs. You can now tweak portamento wait time, change the unison bend CC, and tune individual strings +/- 7 semitones.
  • New + tweaked keyswitches.

Shreddage 2 is currently on sale for $99 USD (regular $139 USD). It is compatible with the free Kontakt 5 Player and includes a free copy of Revalver HPse, the amp sim by Peavey.

Impact Soundworks releases Vocalisa: Slavic Women’s Choir for Kontakt

Impact Soundworks Vocalisa

Impact Soundworks has announced the release of Vocalisa: Slavic Women’s Choir, a virtual instrument library for Native Instruments Kontakt.

Vocalisa features the traditional vocal ensemble sound of Bulgaria and other Slavic regions, as popularized in albums such as “Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares” and soundtracks like “Xena: Warrior Princess”. The library is available for special introductory pricing through June 30, 2014.

The choir of Vocalisa is provided in multiple section sizes: full choir, altos, sopranos, mezzos, and soloist, with independent patches and controls for each. The library offers a selection of the most frequently-used syllables, ornaments, and vocal effects in this style of music, along with dynamics ranging from the quietest sotto voce pianissimo to the loud, brassy fortissimo that Slavic choirs are known for.

Impact Soundworks was founded in 2007 by award-winning composers Andrew Aversa and Wilbert Roget, II with the goal of creating innovative, affordable and unique sample libraries “designed with composers in mind.” Impact Soundworks instruments and libraries can be heard on countless blockbuster film, video game, and television scores.

“Ever since hearing ‘Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares’, I’ve fallen in love with Slavic music,” said Roget, lead designer of the library. “To properly capture that sound and present it in a virtual instrument has taken over three years, but the result has been well-worth it!”

In addition to multiple section sizes and articulations, Vocalisa includes two intuitive playing modes: a “grid mode” allows for manual programming of syllables in patterns that can be saved or loaded as presets, while the “keyswitch mode” provides a method of playing and triggering any syllable or ornament in real-time. The inspiring user interface of Vocalisa also comprises built-in effects, individual syllable tweaking and offsets, and mixing tools.

“Our goal with Vocalisa was to create something both authentic and flexible. It’s equally well-suited to both traditional Slavic music, and hybrid cinematic cues with dense layering,” said Roget, “Or anything in-between. With all of the editing options available and both playback modes, you can customize the library to your tastes and personal style.”

Vocalisa: Slavic Women’s Choir is available for the introductory price of $99 USD until June 30th, 2014 (regular $129).
