Waves Audio has announced the IR-Live Convolution Reverb, a reverb effect plug-in customized for live sound use.
The upcoming Waves IR-Live Convolution Reverb plug-in.
Like its predecessor, the IR1, the IR-Live is convolution-based, using sound samples called “impulse responses” (or IRs for short.)
Featuring a simple and intuitive interface, IR-Live is compatible with Waves MultiRack Native and SoundGrid platforms, as well as all of IR1′s impulse responses, including those of world famous venues such as Wembley Stadium, CBGB’s and the Grand Ole Opry. In addition, IR-Live includes samples of the world’s best-sounding hardware reverb units.
With IR-Live, FOH/live sound engineers now have virtual access to the magic of convolution-based reverb from Waves.
The IR-Live Convolution Reverb will be available soon with a MSRP of $250 USD and an introductory price of $100 USD.
Kemper Amps has announced Cabmaker, a software tool to create speaker cabinets from impulse responses (IR) for the Kemper Profiler.
A lot of owners asked for a way to load impulse responses into the Kemper Profiler to extend the amount of available Cabinet simulations. There are a lot of places where users can access libraries loaded with IR taken from the most diverse kinds of speaker systems. “So be it”: thought the team and created Cabmaker, a straightforward software tool for Mac and PC that reads IR Wave Files and converts these into local Cab Presets for the Kemper Profiler.
The Kemper Profiling Technology caters for lively and dynamic Cabinet performance even with just static IR Data. Cab Converter is a free download from the Kemper Amps website.
Particular paint the world in color with Spectrality – Temporal Impulses; convolution patterns of granular mashups, twisted harmonic delays and modulation madness. Suitable for just any style craving fantasy and otherworldlyness – but for that extra fit, slap them onto something electronic.
Created by plucking very short sounds on pianos, plastic buckets and windows to old fashioned synthesizers and guitars, sent through a diverse range of effects and then through some analogue goodness on it’s way back. The result ranges from beautiful harmonic shimmerings to plain weirdness, and all in between.
The tempo might and might not, entirely depending on the material send into it, set boundaries to where the impulses belong. In fact, some files actually find you pockets of niceties in your groove if you really set out to misuse them from tempo perspective. Inherent pitch in the impulses is a different matter. Total alignment in pitch might cause recursive feedback – so watch your speakers – as well as just the right amount of dissonance might sound awesome!
In detail expect to find 254 impulses in 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130 bpm:s, all in all summing up to 573 MB of 48 kHz 24 bit wavefiles.
